Since during the Latin American colonial era, Simon Bolívar, our liberator proclaimed the territories of Suriname and Guyana as part of our nation. However, this was temporary because these 2 countries expressed their need to govern themselves. Simon gave them permission but still on the Venezuelan flag there is a ninth star that refers to Guyana. Currently, President Nicolás Maduro intends to annex the territory of Guyana again.
