  • Living in the Florida Keys in our RV for a little over.a week definitely DOES NOT make us experts of the area (far from!) but this is our experience so far of living in this popular destination. Although it is BEAUTIFUL and we are so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to spend some time here, there are some harsh realities we've experienced that are also important to share to anyone looking to travel to this unique landscape.
One of these being a dang TORNADO watch! We were definitely not expecting to ride out a two day storm of this magnitude in an RV but we definitely wanted to document a little of our experience and share it with you.
If this is your first time on our channel, welcome! We are a family of 4 (6 counting our huskies) that live full time in our Pottery Barn Airstream. We traveled from Alaska and are in search of some beautiful coastal waters (and warm weather). We post a video every week! We would love for you to join us on our journey of travel, minimalism, health, and living a little unconventional!
    See you next week!

Did you not know that Florida has a long hurricane season, June thru November? It is also the lightning Capitol of the US and tornadoes are pretty frequent. Not to mention there is not any easy evacuation from the Keys as it’s one way in one way out and a whole bunch of folks living and visiting here. Stay safe.

Ive lived there and in South Carolina. Those fire ants are no joke. Also the no see ums if you get them under your skin use clear nail polish. It helps. The snakes and all the things that bite and sting I dont miss at all!! Esp the snakes. I remember driving with my mom to the air force base and it would be normal for a 12 ft gator to be sunbathing on the side of the road. I learned to not jump in random water and steer clear from the snapping turtles too. 😂😂 The Pacific NorthWest isnt so bad now huh lol ❤

We feel very blessed the storm swept through and we had minimal damage! 👍🏼 Definitely one of the scarier nights in the camper! Haha

@coastalcabin I cannot imagine! It would be scary enough if it was just you two, but with babies, that's even worse! Stay safe! 💜🙏

Will you upgrade to a bigger trailer when you’re kids get bigger? We were thinking about the pottery barn but I don’t think it’s big enough now we’re looking at a big RV conversion

Thanks for your comment! I don’t think we would go bigger than our current 28’. It feels pretty spacious right now and spending time outdoors definitely helps! 👍🏼 We might feel different in a few years but we honestly wouldn’t want to haul anything longer!! 😂
