Tornado Warning near Houston, Texas | Severe Weather in our RV

- Sadly, this storm did bring casualties in the Houston area. We would like to give our condolences and prayers to those families effected. We feel very blessed that no harm to us or damage to our rv resulted from this storm.
Living in an RV is not easy, but add crazy and dangerous weather into the mix.. it feels so overwhelming at times! There was definitely a point in this storm when I was alone with the boys and Andrew was stuck at work that I thought, "is this worth it?". Hindsight, YES! Living in an RV has given our family so much flexibility BUT there are some downsides and complications that come with it!
If you are new to our channel, WELCOME! We would love to have you back for our next video! See you soon!
It’s not weird that your dogs are freaking out. THEY ARE WARNING YOU.
Animals know when bad weather is coming, especially tornadoes!!
@@NancyMoody-ec7wtTRUE
The dogs were not freaking out. I was. Never been in that situation before. We now know…
@@NancyMoody-ec7wt and death. Was on a Saturday on March in 2020 because of a tornado warning and I happened to find out dogs knew when death or severe stuff was happening. She was panting and I was wondering why she was in the laundry room, so I was watching something with her, but I look over to our washer and dryer and see my step dad laying there dead. We had to put her down in 2021 in August for skin cancer and a stinky pimple/? On her that the doctors thought was cancer. I miss them everyday
Yes
All RV parks should have a shelter. We live in our RV full time.
Always be weather aware when staying in a camper or rv. Check with office or long timers on where to go if bad weather hits. Pack a to go bag ( water, medications, phone charger, snacks etc). Don’t be scared, be prepared-Ryan Hall (UA-camr)
That’s exactly what I did. I think this was before Ryan was around. I have alerted all of our RV friends to have him on standby.
Glad you guys are okay. Please stay safe out there. All of you. Your family is adorable. God Bless you all 🙏🏻🤗
Ask RV park if they have a shelter.
Good idea!
👍
Good luck at finding one that does have one!
In that scenario do not stay in the trailer or car. Not safe. If you can, find a ditch to lay down in.
However, if you are a frequent traveler, you should always determine your safe plan when you arrive at a location. If you get a tornado warning, sometimes you only have minutes to decide how to be safe. It should ready be in your head what you are going to do.
Glad you are safe!
In a tornado your first thing to do is find the nearest secure building. There is no point trying to out run a storm you put yourself at risk. if you cannot find a shelter lay down in the lowest possible area and cover your head. If you are at a camp spot and you hear severe weather is in the forecast ask the camp spot where the designated spot is located. NEVER seek shelter under an over pass or in a culvert. The fact the dogs where acting weird you are lucky you did not get hit by anything to bad. RVs and Mobile homes are death traps in tornados.
Most camp grounds have concrete bathrooms which are safer than a camper!
yeah, thats my families go to place if theres ever a tornado warning, our tornados arent particularly strong the last high rated tornado in the last like 10 years was an ef3
We were traveling home from Sturgis SD to Calif. and were in a tornado warning in Nebraska about 6 years ago. I was freaking out…the hail was so intense. We pulled into a Cabellas RV park, and I immediately went to the office and asked, (or maybe slightly screamed) “what do we do?”. She said if the siren goes on, grab your pets and go into the bathrooms. They were built of block and the safest place to be. So I am planning all this…what do I pack, how far is it from our spot… and my husband looks at me and says “well, if you got this, I am going to do some shopping.” 😳😵💫🤨🧐🙄 Like seriously? 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ Anyway, I now ask the office at each park we go into where we might have a problem. But! What do we do if we are on the road? 43’ pulling a Jeep it isn’t easy to turn around or “run away” from anything. Lots to think about…🧐 Stay safe!
Just because the sirens go off, doesn’t mean a tornado is on the ground. It just means there’s rotation in your area. The storm more times than not won’t drop a tornado. Ppl get worked up, and cause mass panic for no reason sometimes
Wow crazy video I live a couple of towns over in Liberty Hill Texas and for us it was just a small storm but it was getting bad and then when it came up to the Houston area it just went crazy and turned into a tornado glad everyone is safe I live and travel in my RV full time so I know how scary it can be in those types of situations
EF0 EF1 might be ok- EF 2 and bigger tornado will absolutely destroy an rv and possibly roll it... if in tornado area I would make sure the park has a shelter and I would personally take my chances leaving the area if I know what direction it's going
There are no RV campgrounds that have any shelters though! Not even tornado alley! Look them up! None found with underground shelters! They should! Its scary!
Well, you got lucky. Be AWARE of weather. Pack up stuff so it doesnt become a flying projectile & hirt you or someone else. Years ago someone used to drive around & warm campers of dangerous weather & where to take shelter. Its hard to entertain kids in the bath or shower house but do not freak out. The kids feel the fear & tension.
WATCH THE CLOUDS AND THE CLOSEST TV STATION. Your phone's radar is GREAT!
I was suprised to see so much stuff out just loose too.
Leave the RV...find the shower rooms, bathrooms or even the office if the park, might have place to go...they even might have tornando shelter..be aware of the storms...we are having the worse and stronger tornados weve ever had before...be safe, not sorry...you can replace items, but not ypure kid's life...be safe...
Exactly that’s my point. Please don’t ever say you’re going to hunker down and whether it out that is Ludacris!!! Don’t put your children’s life in danger like that ever again please oh my God
I love me some Galveston ! Grew up down there, GLAD all is ok!!!
This could be a commercial for startlink. Happy your family is okay. I was in Houston during that storm.
Did she really say Facebook where all the trusted news is?😂
3:17 oh... my... word... either I trust the dog or the weather itself. No way can I trust people nowadays!🤣
@@EL_NERVE_TIK trust the dog
Get into a big sturdy building even if it's Lowe's or something
It is always good to have a plan of action for a tornado. When a watch is issued there isn’t often time and sometimes there is no watch in order to load children and go to a shelter. Everywhere we have stayed on the road or stationary I have asked the park where we are at. If your at a rest area most buildings are somewhat sag if they are block or tornado shelters.
If a park in the town or city area most public schools offer storm sheltering. They’re activated by emergency management or when the tornado sirens go off. It’s always good to have a pre packed bag and be ready to go. Also have a noaa weather radio. And know what county you are in. We have had the last 2 events a tornado
Came through nearby and sirens were never sounded. Thankfully no one was hurt. # full time in a bluebird Wanderlodge motorhome since 2015.
Sunset is stunning. Glad you’re safe.
I’ve always heard the sky after a big storm is magical! Definitely was! Thank you!!
Enjoy your meet & greet video. Scary storm, good outcome.
I live in central Texas it was the same here surprised the storm was so big and strong it hit Houston and Galveston
You got lucky! Glad you are safe.
So happy you guys are safe, I don't like thunderstorms in a house let alone an RV/Airstream
Thank you!! You definitely feel every wind gust in an RV 😅 haha But scary in a house to!!
Right!
Tornado season has been intense this year, especially Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas.
We have been full time RVers for years and this is what we do:
We won’t stay at any campground unless they have a storm shelter or concrete shower/bath house. Either is much safer than our rv. The minute a severe thunderstorm or tornado watch is issued, I’m glued to my weather apps and, if he’s live streaming, Ryan Hall. Pack a to-go bag with necessities. When the weather starts to pick up and warnings are issued, we head to the shelter and stay until it’s passed and all clear.
We now know this. It only took one time living thru it to do some research and make a plan part of our routine.
I love your hairdo! Beautiful dogs and children
Thank you!!
Love to watch your life. So fun.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 🥰
Your boys r so adorable and I’m glad y’all survived
A trailer park in Ohio was recently completely destroyed this year in Ohio. A lot of injuries, because strong winds can pick up these types of structures and fling them around. I would say the safest place is in a concrete building, maybe the bath house at the campground.
Be safe and careful in bad weather ty 🤗
Husband and i raised our girls in Oregon and still taught them all weather safety. Doesn't matter where you live or what you live in, stay prepared as best you can and enjoy life as much as possible
I'm always weather aware. I have 2 babies and we live in a mobile home, so if I feel like the weather will get severe, I got to the storm shelter.
I live in an RV and if there is a tornado warning/watch go to the closest shelter immediately. Local churches usually have a basement. Always a good idea to check where you can go incase of emergency before it happens. You do NOT want to be in an RV during a tornado.
If a tornado is coming at you and there is no shelter around you go lay down in the deepest ditch you can find and lay as flat as possible. DO NOT go in a car, camper, or RV.
Church is a good idea!
the dogs barking wasn't weird, they were warning you hun! animals always have a wicked sense of when something dangerous is coming. i'm glad ya'll were safe, this video was a good watch :)
ohhh!! they do? i’ll keep that in mind!! and i hope they’re safe too
😭😢😢😞😭😭😭😭😭😭😭I am glad that y’all survive the storm
before the storms even get there look for the closest storm shelter and have a plan how to get there in a moments notice
Oh my goodness! I remember this day here in Kentucky where I live for me there was 5 tornado warnings and like 3 tornados! I was terrified! I stayed in a shelter for over 3 hours. But thank god I'm ok♡ I hope y'all are ok.❤❤ It was the worse day ever!
Go to the closes shelter or run to the closes ditch and lay flat .. YOU do NOT stay in a trailer or RV during a tornado .. MY advice is this .. ANY day there is some bad weather coming .. RENT a hotel room .. Even if it is just one room one bed .. Better safe than sorry .. Plus it gives you a break from RV nice hot shower .. Winds of 150 up to 300 MPH a RV is history .. So rent a hotel room for the night or a couple nights . MAKE sure its a STRONG sturdy hotel .. Stay on a room on the lowest level ...
Putting your kids in a car seat is always a good idea not in the car just to protect them if the RV does get moved around
Thunderstorms can be just as dangerous as tornadoes. Straight line winds especially in a RV can kill you. Always be prepared to get out.
I love your dog
If you're in Galveston you better start preparing for Hurricane season.
Have a plan before it happens. Since you've been through this before, always check out the park for a storm shelter, or community evacuation in the area you plan to stay in.
Are your dogs huskies ~ there gorgeous.
When there is a tornado warning, the EAS message or sirens might indicate to seek shelter in the lowest floor of a sturdy building and mobile homes might be destroyed, but it depends how severe the storm is. My advice is to seek shelter if the situation gets really bad so yea.
Happy birthday
I wanna be a storm chaser but how when I’m scared of storms😂
Pretty dog
Get out and get in a sturdy building or lay in a ditch and cover your head. Don’t try to outrun it because they can recycle and drop in diff places and can expand quickly. Just be weather aware. Many great live storm chasers on UA-cam when tornadoes are breaking out. Try to watch them or the local weather channel wherever you are. Be prepared before and you will be glad you have a plan.
If there is a tornado you need to get to a building and get to the middle room with no windows or a basement.
Please get out of the Trailer for you and your children's safety.
Make you a to go bag for your family.
There are good list online you can go by.
Have it in a place that you can grap and go if you need too.
I live in area that gets tornados every year and live in a trailer.
We already had two tornados in Wisconsin this year.
I am making us a to go back as soon as I get paid this month.
I have had to learn a lot after moving here from N.C.
Take Care and Stay Safe,
CASSIE ❤
You should know if aa place that has a shelter. Or see ur rv I'd have plaan
Glad your all safe~ storms are bad enough in a brick house, yours must be a bit scarey.
In a tornado ~ aren't you meant to go into the bathroom, no idea why, I just saw it in a film.
Yes . In a house. Not in a camper/ RV. Your best bet is to get out of it and go to a sturdy structure.
In a camper, RV or trailer, there is no safe area - it will be sucked up by the tornado in an instant. In a house with a foundation, yes, a bathroom. Seriously, where is common sense these days?
Hope you guys are good and my sister cuz she lives there too
The news said a contractor was killed from flying debri so don’t go outside if you can avoid it to get your stuff.
It’s not worth the few dollars of stuff you that may be lost. Glad you were safe and had some good neighbors.
Wow, you're asking what to do if you see a tornado while you're in the RV? As your children's protectors you should have that question answered before you ever set foot in the RV with them.
Every location we’ve encountered tornadoes has been an unprecedented occurrence. Even the houses don’t have shelters or extra precautions for extreme weather like this. It’s important to have these conversations whether you’re in a house or an RV! Thanks for adding to the conversation! 🤗
@@natureladyk Everybody with kids has similar concerns in tornado alley, any hurricane zone (which is over 1/3 of the U.S.), the entire west coast earthquake zone, or any coastal area that has tsunami concerns. This isn't any more or less risky than people in any of those areas of the country.
I would say anywhere is safer for children to be than in an RV during a tornado!
@@natureladyk I would not agree
Well next tornado watch and see how many people run with their kids to the RV for safety.
Yes, dogs can tell you something you're not a where of . Do pay attention to them .
I live on Houston and the tornado it was kind of scary
Dogs are warning you!
We were thinking to drive down from The West Coast would you recommend the pottery barn? We’d be driving to Delray Beach
We still love our Pottery Barn HOWEVER they are known to not hold up as well as older Airstream models. Ours has only known highway miles and it has fallen apart pretty good. Every RV will have their little things here and there but our PB isn’t holding up as well as other model of RVs we’ve previously owned.
We have a video on our channel about everything that’s broken in the last 90 days. (now our awning is broken as well!) 😅
Pottery Barn is beautiful
@@katandandy they are very cute but having everything break is too much..not good with two English bulldogs..
@@katandandy that's terrible
We where in my Rv BTW i have a house and we where in California and on a tornado warning/watch and i was so scard while everyone was asleep and are houae was in TN my wrost fear and me and my mom woke up on the same time with an alert on are phones and it was in front of us and we had to get in the car and run down to my mimi her bf made us do that but are mom before that was trying to put us uder her bed 😮😮😮 and my mimi and i was up all night i was falling asleep when the alert happened 😅😅 we where all safe
My tornado started from the ground up not sky down Spokane Washington April 11 1999 was like something else I never seen before
SMH to the parents 😮😂🙄💀
Are yall ok now or is that just me or did it just happen
This is beyond the point of praying and needing to be in a storm shelter I one time faced one in a 1983 chevey van in 1999 I thought this thing was a dust devil next thing the right side of my van lifted into the air I leaned from the driver seat to the right hand seat to keep the other side from lifting I loose both side tires my whole car will be airborne
JESUS AND GOD WILL PROTECT YALL
Where are you two originally from? Where’d you grow up?
If it’s not rude to ask do you live there
You need to shelter, especially your children.
Fun fact a tornado cloud is actually called a funnel cloud
be safe tornadoes deff don’t play in those types of areas especially for a RV to be a death trap
We have 6 leaks in our “new trailer” that me and my boyfriend didn’t know about but 1 because the person that was apparently lived in the trailer before us said the only thing that was wrong with it was the bathtub. That’s the only thing that leaks because the bathtub has a crack in it. And it’s and old trailer they don’t make the same bathtub brand, So that were me and my boyfriend at just trying to save as much as we can to get a good home. Life will alway be unfair sometimes but you got to make the most out of it.
Also please make sure you take things inside you care about or things that could fly away easily. Doesn’t seem that was done
The tornado was in temple my mom s friend lives there
AYOO A TORNADO
If a tornado is coming at you you should never drive away because it can pick your car up or you can crash into something flying around if it hits your car you're in big trouble but if you're in your car if you have a helmet in a blanket and protect you is should have to keep your seatbelt on if there's a building nearby go to the building and if they have a bathroom going in there and protect yourself with your kids it does not matter if the boys you don't care you have to protect them sorry this is weird, comments but if this is building nearby you should go to it and you should never drive away from a tornado and that's why because I used to watch like videos about tornadoes what do you do I was born from Lansing and a tornado watch or what's happening and I was like a little baby and when I was like 8 years old I went down there for my birthday and it was a good time me and my mom were going to see my dad I I heard tornado siren mom and dad I hear tornado siren and I just said was a like a practice one but I did not know that was a practice one so I was scared
Can’t you park the RV somewhere that isn’t in the open? Better to be tucked away than in a parking lot. My cousins and I learned that the hard way when our rv was flipped from a tornado
They happy but they are not in a secure place very dangerous
Don’t understand… You knew there would be strong winds, but you still left everything outside?
When there is an enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms you simply don’t go camping.
Guys stop telling to go to shelter and get to safety. I think they are grown adults who know what to do at this point.
I'm glad that you GG uys are safe for now but shouldn't your kids have some clothes and shoes on.
Find a story building that has bathrooms with no windows
If there’s a tornado and u r in a rv u get out and go on the ground to protect yourself beaches the tornado will most likely take ur car or rv and not u.
First of all, you’re responsible for those children’s lives as well as your own. Don’t ever ever ever stay in a camper if there is a severe weather approaching, EVER!!!!!!!
We had no children with us. Just our fur babies which we were prepared for.
It’s not safe for a family with animals and kids to be driving in that
The tornado happen in Houston
#kat and andy
Tornado coming for 10 minutes
stay away from windoors plese leave becuse hail can brake your camper and campers windoors to okay
You should go to a gas station and go inside so you can keep safe
...
People are SO judgemental... Truly the ones who criticize you have likely never worked as hard as you have a day in their lives; that's why they have that type of energy to waste💯
FYI if you're ever interested in staying in North Central Wisconsin, in a town called Willard....you can park & stay at my all brick 3 story 1926 Slovenian Dance Hall FREE, it makes a great storm shelter, and the property is set with free well water & electric...yet right next to parks and activities❤
Maybe move to the southwest? Or move out of an RV. The weather is just going to get worse... and the weather getting any worse in Houston is BAD
You need to be in a storm shelter get this entire camper evacuated
You go in the bathroom in the tub
Get bathroom
We are in the last days. Get right with Jesus and make him your lord and savior before to late. The worse to come. Draw close to Jesus an read Holy Bible. Even animals can sense weather danger.
I think about the dumbest thing you can do is worry about food instead of looking at your weather app and radar.
Luckily I’m a great multitasker! 😉 I think it’s sad when children go hungry.. but that’s just me, you’re entitled to your opinions!
Fortunately, we have weather apps for that, which are always on with alerts. With tornado watch from Galveston to Tulsa, there’s nowhere to drive to. So, it’s probably a good idea to still make sure kids have food 🥘
