It's a great looiing watch. I don't need a fitness watch per se but I wanted something with an MIP display after I sold my RangeMan. I settled on the GBD 200. Very happy with it.
I’m glad you like it, Tim! The pros outweigh the cons. That’s weird that you’re still getting some notifications. Maybe toggle the notifications on and off again with additionally turning off the sound and vibration from the same screen.
Thank you for this in depth review Tim. These watches are very expensive and getting first hand ownership knowledge is critical to making a good purchasing decision 👍 I love the Casio style, but my son's Garmin has such a great Android app...
I think it’s the best for the money. I paid around $225. Not bad considering my other Casio smartwatch was +$300 and it crapped out on me a week ago (had it for 6 yrs). I like the G-Shock dna in this one. Have a great week.
This is a fantastic tool! And the strap fits! Not sure why they gave it a plastic buckle though. I love the display and the features too! I think I need a fitness watch as well. That should help with me knowing where I stand during the day! The charge intervals is fantastic. My previous smartwatch had about three days worth of use before charge. Those notifications are why I threw my previous smartwatch away. I hear yo on the running hahaha! Have a blessed day Bro!
you can from your phone settings it was bothering me as well but i figured it out, now i have selected only the important things to be notified to my phone
I have the gbdh1000 white and yellow accents. Needs a better solar panel and the app is getting better. Casio still has a long road ahead of them for the activity/smart watch market.
Have any owners of this and other watches had difficulties with the Casio Android app ?? Apparently it's a bit of a nightmare to get the notification settings to stay put. A friend of mine upgraded his phone and the watch just will NOT accept changes to the original notification settings...
I am struggling with the whole idea of tracking fitness. Do I need a fittness tracker? I have been running since 1978. I get out every morning with my ACD/heeler and run, then do a light home weight workout. All without tracking it electronically, without writing it on a log book, etc. My body tells me to take a day off or run longer. (I have the fittest ACD/heeler within 500 miles). I can't see me suddenly needing a fitness tracker. Am I missing something?
I’m in the exact spot. I know I’m moving during the day. I wear it for the ABC (compass mostly) for outdoor info, sleep tracking and the heart rate monitor option if I want to see where I’m at. I’ll take a G-Shock over the other brands for when I need it for outdoors. The battery is awesome.
Very cool. It’s way too big for my wrist though. So I’m going say something a bit controversial. I feel if you need a watch for health, fitness, etc. you should just go ahead and wear a Smart Watch. I have nothing against them. They’re brilliant pieces of tech so if you need the tech, why not wear the best version out there. Again that’s just me. And I’m the guy who only wore an Apple Watch for years until I started collecting a few years ago. Thanks for the great review!
True regarding features. If I remember the Casio will outlast the Garmin for battery life. I like the simplicity of necessary outdoor tools without getting to tech heavy. Have a great week.
That neg display really is good. Looks like a good compromise between a smartwatch and proper watch. Given how fast bears can run a bike is better than two feet! 😂
You’re kind of up the creek without a paddle in you’re chased by a circus bear (those guys can ride bikes 😂😉). Nice watch, but it seems to mirror my Garmin Instinct solar so I couldn’t justify spending the money.
Casio is late to the game of Fitness/smart watch. For ruggedness, features, user-friendliness, connectivity I would choose Garmin of the similar price bracket over G-Shock. Like the smart watch features on paper but feel the burden of the need to wearing it all the time to reap the full benefits of health reading status, while also need to take off to charge using proprietary charging cable. My Garmin Instinct 1 solar which was my first proper and expensive fitness/smart watch is malfunctioning for almost a year now - always auto off. Seems to be the common issue among the model. So it is useless now. Anyway, sooner or later it will be obsolete when there’s newer version coming out or when the (irreplaceable?) battery is dead and not supported by latest apps.
i wish they didnt push the fitness crap on every single watch out there. talking to garmin too. why cant they just release a proper standalone (without smartphone !!) watch with gps functionality (basic, not maps, even just points and basic directions like the garmin instinct 2) and full solar capability (not including gps battery drain of course) ? the gpr b1000 was the closest we ever got, and of course it was discontinued..
I bought this watch brand new at full price, and while I like how it looks, everything else about it sucks. 6 weeks later I bought an Amazfit t rex pro, which I just upgraded now to a T Rex 3, and that watch is everything this watch is not. The solar battery topup/charging? Doesn't work. Sleep tracking? Doesn't work. Notifications from phone? Keeps losing connection. Sync with Fit/Apple Health/Strava etc? applies to specific workouts only, 'synced' manually one by one. Screen layouts only 4 to choose from. At this price it should have a layout for every gshock ever made. GPS? Can't get a fix for at least a minute. Overall, it's a piece of crap. Also, Casio UK has these at like half off in their outlet sale right now.
That’s no good! I’ll keep listening for other issues. I’ve not heard of that many issues with the watch. Sorry it happened to you. I’ll have to look into the Amazon watch you mentioned.

MIP display is outstanding! Have a great weekend.
I’m glad you like it, Tim! The pros outweigh the cons. That’s weird that you’re still getting some notifications. Maybe toggle the notifications on and off again with additionally turning off the sound and vibration from the same screen.
I’ll give it a go! Thanks for the tip.

@@edwardfletcher7790 I’ve got a 1st gen Garmin Instinct that’s still going strong. I really like it for hiking & working out & the app works well!
@@Realidealgear Your dead smart watch likely needs a replacement battery 👍

Thank you Johan, it’s the best fitness/outdoor Casio watch I’ve come across. Have a great week my friend.
@@Realidealgear 😁👌
I'm not interested in "smart" devices, but glad to see Casio filling another niche. Thanks for the interesting review.
You’re welcome. I agree, Casio needed to get their toes into this market and this is a great step in that direction.
you can from your phone settings
it was bothering me as well but i figured it out, now i have selected only the important things to be notified to my phone
Good to know. Thanks for sharing.
I have the same watch and I wear it everyday now. And I have mudman, mudmaster and M5610.
Which one do you prefer?
@@Realidealgear I prefer H2000 now, because I need to track my activity everyday and it forces me to get moving instead of sitting on the couch.

Agreed.
What a great watch this is! I’d love it if all that capability came in a watch the size of a G-Shock square. This is a bit too big for me, though.
You’re right, it’s a big fella. Have a great day.
Great video I think you have to go in your phone's permission and select what you want to come through
I’ve done that but maybe I missed something. Not out of the realm of possibility.
Nope, it's all or nothing.
If you are so stoked about this watch, you're going to be blown away with a garmin fenix 7 or 8.
I’ll have to check it out. I’m not a fan of pure smart watches. Don’t need the connectivity. Just need fitness and outdoor info.
@@Realidealgear If compared with an Apple watch, the Garmin is far from a smartwatch.

Haven’t heard of that issue but doesn’t surprise me. Never a dull moment.
The app and the watch bluetooth connection are garbage.
@@OptimusMonk01 Under Android or iOS ?
What phone and OS SW version?
I've had this watch. Heart rate sensor sucked so bad so I sold it. Kept my Garmin for health tracking.

Great point. What attracts me to this watch is that it’s not a full fledged smart watch and I get the basic health functions. Have great week!
I love Casios too. But as a fitness/exploration watch, this can't hold a candle to a Garmin Instinct 2 Tactical.
True regarding features. If I remember the Casio will outlast the Garmin for battery life. I like the simplicity of necessary outdoor tools without getting to tech heavy. Have a great week.
how would this compare to the garmin fenix
I don’t know. I don’t have one to compare.

Haha. Yes the display is my favorite negative display.
Get an Amazfit instead
