I guess I have to say this again. No, the pixel watch isn't the one where you get all the features for free compared to galaxy watch. Samsung blocks some specific features for non-samsung users, but the pixel watch is even worse because it keeps way more features behind a paid subscription to fitbit. I usually really like your content, but this claim absolutely drives me up the wall.

I bought a really nice-looking watch last year. It was the first time I'd worn a watch since I was a kid. But it was too large for my wrist, made me look like a target for thieves, so big that it made my arm look small, like I was trying too hard to wear it. It also was supposed to keep itself charged through kinetics, but I constantly had to manually fix the hands. Finally, not a month after owning the watch, one day I was in a rush, getting into a taxi at the airport, and the watch snagged onto the seatbelt and sling-shotted into the tarmac, smashing the display all to pieces and sending dirt and its guts throughout the mechanism. I haven't bought another watch since. I can't imagine buying a smartwatch only for that to happen.

Below are several smartwatch brands that Mike O'brien hasn't mentioned that are widely used by athletes in Asia.
    Coros, Huawei, Amazfit.
I don't know why Mike didn't include Huawei at all, maybe because a lot of his audience is from America.

I am a Samsung user I have three watches the Galaxy watch 5 pro the Galaxy watch 6 classic and the Galaxy fit 3 . The fit three is my daily user ever since you made that video on it I purchased one and I haven't looked back or missed my five pro or my six classic. The fit three does everything you need and it's much more comfortable to where to track your sleep. You're right on the little bugs upon launch because it wasn't tracking steps correctly it was actually subtracting steps but now with the latest update it is flawless.

In my opinion, the Huawei Watch GT4 is the best smartwatch I have owned and it's my current watch. I have gone through about 10 different smartwatches in the past year (yes, I know I have a problem lol) and the Huawei GT4 Pro is the only one that has ticked most of the boxes (for my personal use) and that 14 day battery life is the icing on the cake. I respect Mike's opinion and I understand that smartwatches are something very personal as we all look for something different in a smartwatch, but talking about the best smartwatches in the market at the moment and not mentioning Huawei is like talking about the most reliable cars and not mentioning Honda or Toyota.

Add on, its had tons of community member and update watch faces everyday, so far up to couple thousand watchfaces. Also its a very² tough watch and water resistant, screen are amoled, auto brightness works great and best thing is 35min for full charge.

I want a smart watch that will really improve life, set the temp in the shower, unlock my car and set the radio and seat position so I do not have to drag out that brick of a key fob. Report my Libre blood glucose without 10 different work arounds. Unlock my house, set the ac temp in my car, remind me the dog is outside, go into alarm if I get near someone I have listed as Avoid like the plague, when leaving the house, check weather, remind me to take coat umbrella or Ark depending on rain amount, or to take sunglasses if sunny.

My ex had a Galaxy Watch 5 with laughable 1-1,5 days of battery life, terrible GPS (which lost signal and stopped tracking in the middle of nowhere), etc. It was a joke compared to my Garmin, even she realized that after a few weeks. -2-3 days of battery
-somewhat mediocre size (not too small/light, not too bulky) [so no fitness band nor G-shocks]

Of course it depends on your budget, but I would get a garmin venu 3, a 265 because it has music and nfc, if you want a band you could get a fitbit charge 6 or even the fitbit . Or if you want a "smarter" watch I would pick the pixel 2. The advantage with garmin is that you get longer battery life and more stats for running.

The huawei watches are also good for fitness tracking (the xiaomi are trash for fitness), but then you don't get any smart wallets, since its sanctioned by US

I agree with Mike's assesments. Fitness & battery life all week long (pun intended) - Venu 3. Full on smartwatch - GW6C.
The question you need to answer is this: how much of a smartwatch do you want/need?
More apps, more features, shorter battery life (all that stuff consumers significant amounts of power): GW6C
More pared down, more only what you need and nothing you don't: Venu 3
For me I found the GW5 series (tried them all), would activate apps when I didn't want them which is very distracting. For example when I would expect driving directions from your phone and it comes from the watch. I didn't really end up using many of the features or apps at all. That's my experience, finding that at some point I simply wanted the phone to do the job and the watch actually interfering. Yes, fixable in settings, but really?
Venu 3 has slightly smaller watches (41 & 45 mm) with the GW6C being larger (43 & 47 mm). For refernce, I get away with the 45 mm Venu 3 on a 6.5" circumfernce wrist, but the 47 mm GW6C would be too large.
Both can use standard watch bands, so bonus points there. Both look good as daily users and for casual occasions, but neither will look as classy as a full on classic watch, which is where the Withings Nova hybrid Mike talks about comes in.
If you want a much more in depth discussion of these watches in a fitness setting, key phrase, I'd check out both DesFit and DCRainmaker who make exemplary and complimentary fitness device videos to the point where they both work together often. They talk about running, biking, weight lifting, and swimming to name a few activities and have great insight as to what works best and in which circumstances.

Are Fitbit fitness bands passé these days? Seems like they're still in production, though Google bought them and is pushing Pixel watches right on the Fitbit landing page now.
There are all these super cheap Chinese knockoffs that I know you don't have the time to review, but I got a Tozo watch for around $30 a few months ago and from a distance, it looks just like an Apple Watch. However, the heart rate monitor doesn't work as well as the Fitbit and, presumably, smart watches that cost 10x or 15x more. It's handy for use at the gym for timing my intervals and that's about it. Fitbit is actually better, but getting the timer to work is an arcane series of steps that is an exercise in patience.
It seems as though the all around best of breed is still the Apple Watch, as you concluded. The Ultra 2 is currently $800 and for that price it had better be darned good.
FYI you mentioned, but didn't actually include a link to the Xiao Mi fitness band.

This is a problem with most reviewers. Don't know if it had improved but hard to put the money down for her either disappointment.

It was a super awful experience .. nothing works properly! Heart rate while walking was terrible ! It was heavy on the wrist … tracking was poor (it’s not like “hey you’re walking, let’s track more” like an Apple Watch after 10 minutes of walking will tap you on the wrist .. no no, nothing at all)
In fact the only thing that works great was sleep tracking … after you woke up, it was nightmare
Even if it was the first gen… I bet the second gen is not that better

I like my OnePlus 2 watch, for $249 it does all the things I need, not to mention that for the size, 46mm, it fits perfectly, unlike the Classic 6 47mm which I had to return due to the shape of the watch where the band connect to. Hey! I bought two OnePlus 2 watches, one for work which if I bang it and it scratches I won't mind, because I'll have brand new mint for going out. For the rest? nah!!! I'll pass. Had the Classic 6 47mm, return it for the 42mm, too small, so I sold it, bought me the extra OnePlus.....worth every penny.
What I needed my watch for? The following: Time, Date, Temp, NFC, Notifications, Style, Proper Fit, Long Battery Life.........that's it.

Hmmmm no such thing as the perfect smartwatch - always trade offs. I love the Pixel Watch 2 for having the best heart rate/sleep tracking but wish it was a big bigger/more rugged with a better battery, I think the Samsung Watch 5 Pro does well for tracking and user interface/ecosystem but I don't have a samsung phone and it's not the most comfortable of watches (thanks to the on going design choice on the strap connection to the watch), I loved the OnePlus Watch 2 but it's missing some odd things in the software and it doesn't play nicely with Google Fit/Health Connect.... I'm also not sure about the Health tracking on it. Garmin Venu 2 Plus was great but the sleep tracking was woeful. I really like the Ticwatch Pro 5 but again it requires playing nicely with Google Fit/Health Connect to work with things like MyFitnessPal etc. With better software and updates I would probably opt for the Ticwatch but for now I am using the Pixel Watch 2 as the health tracking is probably the best for android (watch The Quantified Scientist for his reviews of the tracking data!)

I have several smartwatchs, as Samsung Galaxy watch 6 Classic, Huawei watch 3 Pro, Huawei watch 4 Pro and last week just buy the new Huawei watch Fit 3 for my wife, she had the old Huawei Fit 2 and from experience with all this watches I can say the Huawei watches are much better, in all aspects, battery (5/20 days) operating system, all the functions, sensors, design, comfort and to finish in the build quality... Sapphire glass, titanium.... And so on..all this at a very competitive price.
