  • Hey folks,
I've had a lot of requests to do a 'rig rundown' style vid, and in an effort to answer as many of your questions as possible, I decided to film this super detailed explanation with 'Soundman Steve' during the last US tour. Let me know if it was useful to you in the comments!
One million thanks to my friends at the following companies for their support and wonderful abilities to build some of the best guitar gear in the world :)
    Ernie Ball strings: ernieball.com
    Dimarzio pickups: dimarzio.com
    G7th capos: g7th.com
    Z Vex effects: zvex.com
    In Tune picks: intunegp.com
    Nick Benjamin guitars: benjaminguitars.co.uk
Thanks to those who came out to my concerts in 2014. It was my busiest year yet with three huge tours in the States, as well as shows in Canada, Italy, Germany, Greece, China, Latvia, England and Spain.
This year I'll be releasing a lot of new music and visiting plenty of you again, especially those of you across the UK who I've regrettably neglected for too long!
I'll also be hitting some new and exciting parts of the world like Bermuda, the Dominican Republic and more unusual Islandy places that rarely get access to beardy weirdos.
All current tour dates and guitar clinics are up at mikedawes.com

I am so gratefull Mike for your candid and useful video. Can anyone imagine 40 years back any guitar genius (Page, Beck, Clapton ...), being so nice as to tell you with this detail the secret sauce of their sacred juices? .. these are really good times for being an amateur fan of this great players

Wicked idea using the Bose mixer, makes perfect sense and certainly cuts down on a lot of processing pedals for board space!

Holy moly. That's way too intense. This dude is one of the best acoustic players I have ever seen - maybe people disagree but he totally doesnt need all of this. I'm pretty sure everyone would pay to see just him and a guitar. No hate - MD is an incredible talent.

I know this was 5 years ago, but I wanted to see your pedalboard, and then I see this video where you are in Paducah, KY. That's like 40 minutes south of me. How awesome is that! Glad I found you, and it was only through the ToneWood amp commercials and Andertons video that I did, but I am glad I did! You are amazing!

You're probably very happy with your ZVEX proximity wah (ZVEX makes great stuff) but might I suggest the Dunlop 105Q Bass wah. I had the same issue as you, in that I wanted the wah to start in the heel down position. The 105Q has no bypass switch but instead turns on when your foot starts moving forward on the wah pedal. It is also tension loaded to return to the heel down position when you lift your foot off of it. It being designed for bass players in mind it does not thin the sound out of the guitar but if the stock sound has too much bass. it does have a variable Q frequency to let you narrow the bandwidth of the sweep to your liking.

Hey mike, I'm looking to mic my acoustic for finger style percussive like you do because I absolutely love the sound and tone. What model of internal mic are you using in the guitar to pick up the body sounds? Thanks!

Great video! But I'm not quite understanding how the effects pedals are connected to the Bose T1. Do you mind explaining that part a bit more? Like what goes into the input of the effects pedals and where does the outputs of the effect pedals go too. Thank you.

    • @mikedawesofficial
      @mikedawesofficial  9 років тому +6

The electric was there, just not on the stage at that point. It's a Tom Anderson Tele. I also have an Ernie Ball Musicman Axis Supersport that's in CA waiting for me to pick it up. Can't wait!

2:42 that answered my one and only question how those taps on the guitar amplifies.. Actually I thought it's the kind of the guitar that produces that amplified tapping on the wood but it's simply the internal mic to say the least.. No wonder when I'm buying a guitar awhile ago and had been looking for guitar that can be played for percussive guitars.. They have no idea what I'm talking about lol.. But now I've realized that the answer to that is the internal mic.. Thank you mike for that info.. Tho I still have a question .. Almost all the guitars that can be bought here at the Philippines have only one pick up and doesn't include an internal mic.. Do you prefer to buy an internal mic and be installed into the guitar??? Thanks mike and I'll be waiting for ur feedback cheers

Hello Mike. What PA system would be best to preserve the natural acoustic sound of my electroacoustic guitar from Aer Compact 60/3?
I need power for more larger venues. I am very happy with just Aer Compact, guitar and voice all in the Compact in pubs and Hotel's Restorants.
Now am not sure how to preserve the same sound adding a PA system.
    Can you help, pls?

How did you fit that DiMarzzio p/u in the sound hole along with that sound hole cover? Or vice-versa? I have an LR Baggs Anthem installed on my Martin GPCPA 4 and I have been trying to figure out how to put a sound hole cover in. Your help, or anyone here, would be greatly appreciated.

    • @1Aquadon

watch over and over.. but basically, the mag pick-up is run into Bose mixer then using one or 2 separate aux outs from that mixer channel goes into boss OC-3 and Joyo JF-14 separately (with either a TRS splitter cable from 1one aux ..one to each.. or 2 separate aux channels) and JF-14 amount is blended in by an vol/expression pedal... both pedals are returned into channels 4 & 5 on the mixer
