longus Why is it cringey? It actually sounded great in this performance, and he even manages to control when he wants them to clap and stop clapping. If you've done any live music performance you'd know that this one's audience interaction was near perfect.
Some people are just gifted at certain things. Someone could be a better guitar player after 3 or 4 years of playing than someone who's played 25 years. Don't ask me why because i can't explain it. Learning the instrument is just easy for them it almost comes natural.
I'm 63 years old , so you can imagine how much acoustic guitar I've heard over the years this performance literally leaves you in tears., because your mind cannot fully process what you are hearing , it is that stunning. He must be heard by as many people as possible
I bought a guitar recently, went to youtube to learn basic chord. Then, this video pops up. I click as i am interested in the song played with guitar, hoping that can learn as well. And now, i regret that i bought the guitar. ☺
I'm disturbed by the number of posts about giving up the guitar after hearing Mike. One would think you would be inspired. I've been playing "at" the guitar for over 40 years. At various times, depending on my dedication, I've been really, really good, or really, really bad. After finding Mike Dawes, I am refocused and have a new challenge. Come on folks...you may never be able to duplicate him, but if you learn even one thing from him to improve your playing, it's a good thing.

One great guitar player said a long time ago that improving on your guitar playing is like a deep chasm that has no end. Better enjoy playing music then instead on giving up on it after discovering great artists. Let them be our inspiration!
This. I used to hate practising my scales and moving up and down the neck etc. Now I can't find enough minutes in the day to practise directional picking and scale work.
I recently discovered Mike, what an amazing acoustic guitar player!!! I am 57 years old and grew up playing all the greats of my time. I played solos of George Lynch, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, and of course EDDIE VAN HALEN!! Mike is the perfect example of putting a guitar in the right hands. So great to see newer musicians making a name for themselves. Stay the course my friend, you are going places!!
Oh man this is so overwhelmingly amazing. The amount of practice it takes to incorporate a looper on this level...plus the tone is amazing, bright and dripping with reverb, the percussion from your hands and feet, and the backing track that guy seems to be cuing up...this is not a guitar performance, this is a juggling act featuring guitar.
Im not kidding. Mike dawes is so inspiring to me. I mean you can really see how he feels what hes playing and that motivates me even more to play the guitar and trying to make own stuff :)
I played guitar for years and years, and this young man has taken my heart ❤️ I'm in total love with Mike's style and blown away by his exceptional talent 😍
Did he grow a third hand to quiet down the crowd at the start of the second verse? An absolutely unreal talent. The harmonic section in the bridge was killer too
Saw this dude open for Periphery. Had no idea who he was or what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. Never thought I'd hear a killer acoustic cover of a pop dance song before a prog metal show, and I never thought it'd *work* so well, but lo and behold. Great musician!

Mike Dawes. Guitar hall of fame worthy. No doubt. Wish I could hear you play "Heart" with Plini LIVE some day.I listen to that song (both versions) on a daily basis. Please never stop making acoustic music.

Finally a crowd that can clap in time without fucking Up the performance. Great!
still cringey though
given its a school of music, id be dissapointed if they couldnt lol
maybe they had been trained before the performance :PDD
They're all music students so I would be shocked if they couldn't keep a beat😄
