  • Part 2 is meant for a 1000 vita but still applies. don't use the battery fixer app anymore, just turn the vita off for 2 minutes to make the vita check the batteries status.
    Part 2: • PS Vita 1000 Classic B...
    LiPo batteries, the batteries I use to mod, only last 1-3 years. This mod makes replacing a modded battery easy. Imagine every time you battery dies, you need to pull out the soldering iron - not with this mod. With this replaceable Battery Mod you can just buy a 3.7v battery with a JST plug and the vita will clip to it.
    With this mod you can also charge multiple batteries and change them out for a full battery on the go. (Bring a screwdriver)
    For this mod you need supplies:
    PlayStation Vita WifI or a converted 3G (PCI removed)
    Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery
    I'm using a 105060 3300mAh (actually has 3750mAh),
    105060 means 10mm thick, 50mm wide, 60mm long
    Battery should come with a battery protection board
    Battery should come with a JST 2.0 male plug
    a.aliexpress.c...
    www.amzn.com/B...
    10k thermistor within 1% and B value between 3350 and 3450
    a.aliexpress.c...
    www.amzn.com/B...
    JST 2.0 female connector with wire.
    Get both male and female if your battery doesn't have one
    Use a different connector if you prefer! (Let me know!)
    a.aliexpress.c...
    www.amzn.com/B...
    Solder 60/40 Rosin Core
    Flux Paste (or your preferred flux)
    Electrical Tape
    For this mod you need tools:
    Phillips #00 precision screwdriver
    Wire Strippers (or a way to strip wires)
    Pliers or something to pry/break plastic
    Soldering Iron (Any with a large tip, clean)
    Razor Blade or another plastic scraping or sanding tool
    Battery mod based on the battery mods I found 2020.
    Tested many orientation and discovered how the battery works and doesn't work - how it failed others. Part 2 is on how to use a modded battery.
    I have currently tested this method on 12 previous vitas all of which I own and use for testing. I have run many more than 36 tests on all 5 original vitas running Minecraft (36x5=180 tests) before suggesting battery mod validity.
    Doing this mod alone will get you 10-10.5 hours of 333mhz (depending on how much you let it sleep and correct it's battery % or turn off 2 minutes). Making sure you get 10.5 hours will require a battery read reset. (Part 2 • PS Vita 1000 Classic B... )
    You need to force the vita to check the actual battery % sometimes. The vita checks it's battery % and corrects itself normally at random times or you can turn the vita off 2 minutes to force it to correct.

    why dont you use the control board from the original battery and replace it on the new one? wont work?

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  Рік тому +1

      You can use the original protection board if you want. The battery I installed has it's own protection board. Don't install 2 protection boards.
      If you use the original battery protection board it has all 3 needed wires and has it's own thermistor. Don't install another thermistor, 2 thermistor won't work.
      I did the battery mod this way so all future battery replacement is just to clip in a battery using the very common connector. The connector is the JST-PH 2.0 also known as the "tiny whoop".
      Most LiPo batteries come with a charge protection board and the pst-ph 2.0 connector.

      In order to get the full 10-11 hours on a charge you need to do the button combo from the pinned comment every 5-6 hours and also after charging. Still has the same battery countdown issue as the 1000.
      Software issue - hopefully someone will fix it some day.

      @@anderxale1 My 2000 still holds quite well for my needs by now, but I'm pretty sure I'll need to replace the battery someday.
      Seeing that it's possible to change the Slim's battery to add a bigger one on it makes me very happy cuz I thought it didn't had enough space to fit a bigger one, and you managed to put almost 4000mAh on it by accident, that's crazy XD
      I don't have any equipment by now, and I'm pretty much just watching videos like these cuz I find it really interesting (and also cuz they WILL be useful in the future, seeing that lithium batteries don't last forever)
      Thank you for the awesome job! I'll keep following your content, and I'll probably try doing this on my 2000 blue aqua someday in the future :)

    Warning: This works but the battery read reset is harder than the OLED models (you can't just turn the Vita off 2 minutes).
    To reset the battery you have to turn the Vita off, hold L1+PS+Start+Select and also hold Power for 15 seconds - the screen stays off. You know you did it right if when you turn the Vita on, you have to set the time and date. The battery will also be corrected.
    If the Battery Fixer app ever gets updated for SLIMS, that would also work.

    • @kyhassen
      @kyhassen 2 роки тому +1

      Is this battery reset something you have to do frequently?? I'm just trying to decide if I should mod mine. My battery is shot due to using a Nyko hand grip that extends the battery a tiny bit.

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  2 роки тому +1

      @@kyhassen So... It depends how much you use it. If you play an hour or four a day, it will probably fix the battery % while your vita sleeps or is off and you won't notice.
      If you want to play 9 hours straight and the Vita doesn't fix it's battery, then you have to turn it off and do the button combo at about 5 hours in (before 20%).
      Do the button combo after charging if you are playing while charging (because you charge past what the vita thinks is 100 and the reading needs reset). Charging while off until full won't need the combo.
      It's not as easy to use as the OLED battery mod...

      @anderxale1  2 роки тому +1

      @@kyhassen Oh, and you can do this mod with a 2500-2200mAh battery and the Vita will work normal. It's only hard to get the full capacity of you try for a large battery.

      @@anderxale1 I don't think I'd ever crack 5 hours in one go but a bigger battery sounds better haha. A couple of hours here and there mostly. Overall it looks fairly easy to do with how you explained and showed in the video.
      I never bothered with the OLED Model. I imported a Dragon Quest Vita and I love it. I did soft mod it and use the SD2Vita a while back but having to play while it's plugged in sucks. Kinda made me put it to the side and I never use it anymore.
      Also thank you for the quick reply.

      I JUST got that vita the other week! The slime icon on the up direction in the dpad. It's an awesome vita!
      Easy:
      If you get a vita slim 2000 replacement battery off Amazon or elsewhere on the Internet you should be back to 6+ hours between charges. That battery should be pretty good for a year and usually they come with the screwdriver needed to open. Probably need another in a year or so though - not great quality batteries perform the same as good quality when new.
      The batteries that I'm using in these mods are also poor quality. Last maybe 1-3 years. That's why the clip, replace it easily.
      The original vita batteries were great quality, but "new" batteries now are always fakes that will die in a year or two.

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  7 місяців тому +2

      Battery fixer app was for the OLED models and won't work for the slim. Vita battery mods are still janky and slim is extra janky because there is no forced battery reset.
      Only way is to turn it off for a bit and hope it reset.
      My Vita that I modded still works. Randomly the battery will jump up higher, but it's not reliable. Charging while off (or asleep) is the only way to be sure to fill the battery completely.
      Very imperfect mod.

    So I couldn't find the stock battery replacement with reasonable price anywhere in my area, i trued online but the shipping fee is anywhere from $200-$300, so i kept looking and came across a battery replacement for some wifi device which has same specifications as the vita battery like 3.7v and 2200mAh and three wires with ground, i thought to replace the battery by soldering the wires but the only question i have is do i need to solder a thermistor to the board or should i just replace normally?

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  4 місяці тому

      It will probably work... Most battery thermistors are 10k ohm. The difference may be how much the resistance changes with the temperature change.
      It will probably work but might be extra temperature sensitive or not sensitive enough.

    • @mobi92392
      @mobi92392 4 місяці тому

      @@mobi92392 If the thermistor is too sensitive then the Vita may trun off unexpectedly by getting warm or cold. If not sensitive enough it could charge while too hot and become a fire danger.
      It might work perfectly too!
      If you use that battery with it's thermistor, I would just be sure to charge it at a comfortable room temperature.
      Performance won't be affected at all by a different thermistor.

      Hahaha nice! This is the absolute largest I could find and still make the battery replaceable (clip in)
      If you don't do the clip (need to solder every time you need a new battery, every 3 years) you might be able to fit 10mm by 70mm by 50mm.
      I would suggest being patient though, batteries are increasing capacity soon with solid state batteries (they keep promising). Aluminum Air batteries for instance will be smaller, lighter, and able to charge more times.

    In another comment you said a solder free mod. I thought this was solder free since this is clip in.

      In this you need to solder the battery clip and a thermistor to the vita motherboard. Also true for the OLED "replaceable battery mod" video.
      After the mod is soldered, all new batteries with the right clip can just clip in. No more soldering needed in the future. All batteries just clip in after the mod is complete.
      The method with no soldering will instead destroy a Sony vita original battery. Replacement batteries will just clip in like the mod in this video. There will be annoying ugly wires. But in that mod there will be no soldering to install the mod at the beginning.

      This red blue vita video is taking me forever (over two weeks... I lost a 4 hour shot).
      When red blue released I want to do usb-c for 1000s. Then the solder-less 1000, then the solder-less 2000.
      Sorry about the wait, maybe 2 more weeks. :(
      Videos take me some time
