I found it easier and cleaner finish to cut the hole and then carpet ghe door. That way you can tuck the excess carpet between the two metal skins before applying the edging strip. And finish installing the window.
Good video. I've got an older vivaro to convert and have the barn door windows and 2 sides to do. I really wanted the barn doors so I can have a centre mirror and see out of the back. I'm too used to cars where I can see out the back!
Have you had any side effects of using that angle grinder? I heard the hot metal fragments burn your paint and eventually you’ll have rust spots where the paints burnt?
no issues and most of the sparks/fragments went inside the van which were just swept away when completed. Clean any area after carrying out grinding and there should be no problems, but I'd always recommend using a jigsaw over a grinder, I just ran out of jigsaw blades at the time
Great vid!! Did you put adhesive between the two panels after cutting the hole out? I'm about to install a window on my Reno Trafic and I am wondering how to treat that double layer of metal after cutting the hole. Cheers!
You could have let light in with a sky light plus it would have vented hot air without the problems of opening a window, had a mozzy screen and blackout blind built in
@@lys823 I guess I'm not a view guy. Insulation is only as good as its weakest link. A window will negate some of the insulation/soundproofing.....a compromise on performance. Enjoy your view.

Solar on the roof takes up the space and both front windows wind down, sliding door opens, rear doors open, adding a roof vent wouldn't make that much difference nor let much light in

Not a bad idea
Thanks for the tip. Just made a note of that one.
Your getting there my friend. So far so good. 👍👍

you can always fit a reverse camera and put it on a live power feed to give the same as a mirror
Nice job ..good work
Thank you

This is exactly what happened to my white T4 😢
you could use this for the nissan nv300/renault trafic

I put a bead of sealant between the panels to seal and stop them flexing
@@TheCampervanBuilder awesome thanks I will do the same. I have some silkaflex hopefully that's the job 👍

Most of the roof is covered with the solar panel so not an option. I would prefer the door window anyway. I like a nice view when I'm parked up

@@xtc2v I can't see the point in going anywhere if you don't want to see outside. May as well stay on the drive

you could use this video for a nissan primstar nissan nv 300 renault trafic
same method yes, different window though
Man hope no one uses that truck when it’s 30’c. You need some ventilation.
Both front windows wind down, sliding door opens, rear doors open, a tiny opening in the side window would make practically zero difference
Hi do you have a link for the glass and fitting kit please
Should be one in the description
Can I ask what are the front seats you have in the van. They don't look standard. Did you have to modify them to get them to fit.
Mazda rx8 seats and yet needs mods for them to fit
Do you get the window casket
Hi what type of carpet are you using.
4 way stretch carpet, there are carpeting videos with links to it on my channel videos
Did your window fall out. There is hardly any adhesive on it ?
Of course not, maybe you missed the double layer I applied, no shortage at all
