It's funny you should say that, I've always wondered myself.. but yes, in my opinion, we're worlds apart from other peoples, willingly or not. That's just who we are, I guess. I've come to terms with it. That's what I like about the Witcher series, Sapkowski's body of work and slavic culture in general. You could show me 10 different RPGs and I would be able to tell you which one is made by a slavic group of people. There's no mistaking CD Projekt. It's in the small details, the conversations, the characters, the lore; everything. I don't think westerners are hating on the first game, I just believe that the rest of the world discovered the Witcher series with the second one. That's fine with me. This universe deserves to be known, even if it had modest beginnings. I'm damn proud of what they've accomplished, so far. Can't wait to see Cyberpunk 2077. When he channels igni firestream ... thats my goosebumps moment. With the subtle face twitching, so awesome. Imagine how awesome it would be, if there were a double handed igni cast in tw3 ... more powerful, but you can't move, like in the cinematic.
From Time of Contempt "A white-haired monster attacked them. He jumped from the wall. From a height it was impossible to jump without breaking a leg. It was impossible to land softly, turning a pirouette that blurred to the eye and killing a split second later. But the white-haired monster did it. And he began to kill." He landed on his feet without rolling, no damage. In TW3 he literally dies falling from a height that even I could jump.
ronnie koch just read it and I swear the strega in inside the tomb, not geralt, while he waits. so its a bit in reverse. also he is instructed not to touch a hair on her, and what do you know - he ends up cutting a bit :p
BozChord "Geralt pulled the third vial from beneath his tunic, quickly drank its contents, climbed into the tomb and stretched out in it. As he had expected, it was a double tomb, for mother and daughter." You are right about the hair part, and I'm pretty sure he didn't climb a building, just a flight of stairs.
+BozChord What you have to remember is that this book is translated from Polish and, I've noticed that many other languages tend to speak about things backwards than we do in English like if you translated direct from say spanish they would say something LIKE: There was a driveway the car went down it. And of course in English we would say: The car went down the driveway. So much is lost in translation really its pretty sad.
Just started reading the books and instantly new I saw this scene years ago in the first game and had to watch it again. Spot on how the fight is almost the same as described in the book.

So this cinematic is basically the climax of the first chapter of the first book. That's a pretty cool way to tie the novels with the games' storyline.
The man that Geralt of Rivia used as a bait to draw the striga out of its crypt is none other than Ostrit himself. Ostrit was a courtier in the court of King Foltest, and he loved the king's sister, Adda of Temeria. Angered by the incestuous relationship between the king and his sister, and the pregnancy it led to, Ostrit cursed them. Indeed, both the mother and the girl-child died during the labour, and they were buried. Several years later, Ostrit's curse bloomed and the girl rose as a striga, haunting the streets of Old Vizima. Ostrit was killed by the striga that he cursed.

Vivi Nefertari yes at the end he bit her and when he is resting i cant remember who comes and says "why did you try to bite her to death?" "By that time Geral was asleep."
This 12 years old animation is the only production I acknowledge as the loyal and respectful adaptation. It's pretty damn sad that despite their decent budget and great actors, Netflix still managed to fuck this core story up so badly. Foltest was a fat simpleton without any depth, cunning or discipline. The most important sequence at 5:09 when Geralt reflects the bestial hatred and rage at the monster to lure out the scared little girl was completely missing from the show. It's just fucking disgusting how hissrich changed and falsified these stories! But Cavill could sell any generic swords & spells flick so why even bother. The entire Brokilon episode was meaningless, yet they cut Nenneke's parts most likely to save time.

Yeah this cutscene and that episode are based off the same short story in The Last Wish. If you liked the Netflix series I highly recommend reading it.
Triss may not have the look I expected, but she got the voice. Yen after the transformation also looks the part. Henry nails Geralt for sure. They tried their best. Not disappointed, can't wait for ss2.
I liked this version of the Striga more. If the Netflix Witcher series had more budget and time for the Special Effects, the monster fights might have been cooler. Looking forward to the next season
I love LOVE this game.... its literally the game that got me into gaming (excluding ps1's spyro and crash and so on)... all the dicks bashing this gem need to stfu. This is a master piece, its a 2007 game and for that time it looks beautiful and the story is engaging as fuck, really following the books! I remember being in a mall with me mum when I was 13 and seeing this being played in one of the game stops. Instant crush, I knew I needed it to be under the christmas tree :)
I mean, the gameplay is pretty shitty and Geralt moves kinda awkwardly. Also, signs are pretty much useless, I don't think I've used signs a single time during combat, only Aard to blow walls and rocks. But I really liked the story and all the details about the monsters and such.
@@VividlyChillin You have no idea what you're talking about, lol, the first game had the best combat system because it was unique and suited for witcher games, everything nowadays is just boring spamming hit and dodge.

There are so many details i can point out about the show on how its bad at 3rd episode mind you.

It was in the "the last wish" that he was paid to cure her instead of killing her. If he straight out killed her, he would've risked being hanged by Foltest.
Denes300 foltest had a conversation with geralt privately when geralt interrogated the miller. There the king siad, he ca kill the striga if it means his life or the striga's. He said he would banish him from the country and after that, he could maybe get the deals the others made with him. And then the king left.

But the gameplay itself...just felt so boring.
That is who Witcher 2 actually looks and its no hyberbole ,rather a understatement . I love this series so much and the friendly developer .That games in my register : All Time Favorits . salutations
@Olemguy Well the reason an Xbox can run a game like the Elder Scrolls is because first of all, all the meshes, LOD, textures are sized down to an extreme. And distant lands aren't rendered worlds. There's very little for the console to process at a time. And on a side note, most multi-platform games that release to the 360 run at 30fps or lower. Playing with a controller gives you the feel of less lag. And the Witcher 2 even as it looks on a small scale has a million things to render at once.
4:39 sucks that the games didn't touch on the fact that he can climb this well. Yes you can climb in the Witcher 3, but they should have incorporated some speed and flow like they did here.
Shiladri Saha You don’t think I know that? This cinematic intro is an adaptation of the short story “The Witcher”... the game is proving that Geralt in the books carries his silver separately.

Except better since foltest wasnt such a tool
Yeah this cutscene and that episode are based off the same short story in The Last Wish. If you liked the Netflix series I highly recommend reading it.
Triss may not have the look I expected, but she got the voice. Yen after the transformation also looks the part. Henry nails Geralt for sure. They tried their best. Not disappointed, can't wait for ss2.
haha why are you saying this here? and not below any netflix content?
but i have to agree with you :D
(exept triss looks like discribed in the books)
@@hundebengl5042 You're right, I should have, it's just that I was too excited when I watched ep 3 and this battle popped up.
You crack me up, " all the dicks bashing this gem need to stfu." :')
I mean, the gameplay is pretty shitty and Geralt moves kinda awkwardly. Also, signs are pretty much useless, I don't think I've used signs a single time during combat, only Aard to blow walls and rocks.
But I really liked the story and all the details about the monsters and such.
@@THEPELADOMASTER yeah the first game is much better just to watch the cutscenes than to actually play lol
@@VividlyChillin You have no idea what you're talking about, lol, the first game had the best combat system because it was unique and suited for witcher games, everything nowadays is just boring spamming hit and dodge.
@@krejziks3398 lol okay dude , the first games combat is so dogshit. Not even fun . That mixed with a few other things made it so I didn't even want to finish that damn game after 2 hours
14 years ago and still top notch
.....love the way Geralt actually look here!
So I just noticed Ciri's dialogue in The Witcher 3 indicated the scar over his eye is new to her. He has it here, he has it in the Price of Neutrality, he has it in Side Effects and he has it in those Witcher 2 mini movies like when he's stabbed by the pitchfork
One of the best intros I've ever seen.
I love this game. This intro is a masterpiece
2:21 Don't ever do this ingame.
"boo"
"Stiga runs away yelping"
The 3 episode of Netflix serie, adapt this fight
they adapted the books which was in the last wish book
@@zee2213 i know
@@zee2213 either their adapted it badly...
Or the books were bad in such csse.
1, books arent perfect. Games did improve weak points of them, such as making witcher medalion something diffrent than olimpics silver medal.
Show... Just copies, and copies 1:1 or worse. Which is point 2.
After 3rd episode, i m sure re reading the books with witcher games like imagination visualisation will be better than watching show...
There are so many details i can point out about the show on how its bad at 3rd episode mind you.
@@dr_birb Another game fanatic smh, You do know that if the Medallion was shaped like in the games, it would be really awkward seeing a giant wolf head medallion hit his eye or face in fight scenes, or how fucking awkard it looks when it's backwards and Geralt has to turn it.
One of the most epic intros ever seen...
"His name was Geralt of Rivia, he was a Witcher..."
Netflix showed this moment in live-action.
And it was not as good as this
I feel like Netflix went cheap on the witcher tv series.
*Wind's howling*
Im here after 3 episode, its soooo amazing even after 12 years, witcher 1 had his own and diffrent game atmosphere and i wish in future they should make a remake
Netflix witcher brought me here
Saudades dos livros com as aventuras de Geraldo e Carpeado, e nunca entendi porque mudaram o nome de Jaskier pra Dandelion.
Didn't understand why Geralt didn't go on and kill the monster but instead took a nap in the coffin...... UNTIL I read the beastiary entry of striga.
It was in the "the last wish" that he was paid to cure her instead of killing her. If he straight out killed her, he would've risked being hanged by Foltest.
Dickey not really
yeah really, that's his daughter. Foltest wasn't ready to lose her again THEN.
Denes300 foltest had a conversation with geralt privately when geralt interrogated the miller. There the king siad, he ca kill the striga if it means his life or the striga's. He said he would banish him from the country and after that, he could maybe get the deals the others made with him. And then the king left.
Imagine a game that combines 3 games.
Assasin's Creed,The Witcher,God of War.
Brutal game....Brutal game...
i honerstly couldnt get in to the god of war. i always wanted to play it and when 3 hit ps4, i played it and got a few hours in and just never touched it again. as interested as i was in nordic mythology and the aspect of being a demi god fighting other gods, its just so epic. But the gameplay itself...just felt so boring.
Kugrox God of War 3 and the new God of War are two completely different animals.
Its a damn shame that Geralt can't perform parkour in the game itself...
His name was... Geralt of Rivia.
I really miss the preparations you had to make for almost every side quest just to succeed.
Let me guess the Witcher episode 3 ?
We DEMAND a remake of this game
We DEMAND a remake of The Witcher TV Show also.
the face of the striga remind me a hourse face! and i have alot of hourse face spirit (the kelpei, nokken/nixei, ,shinubaba, nuckelavee, tikbalang)
The birth of a legend
I came after reading the 3rd chapter of 1st episode is anyone here as same as me
Had to watch this again after watching Episode 3 of Netflix's Witcher
Bloody epic! Best Game series ever created.
Episode 3 brought me here.
No one else gonna mention the fact that the intro is narrated by Kingseeker Frampt?
The best thing about the cinematic is, that it is made exactly like in the book (but the reward wasn't night with princess, but 3000 orens. )
I love you Netflix
that is better than netflix
Maybe not better or worse, just another adaptation :P
@@pacik19 Material is different xd
@HARVSTO You're right ! Paid attention myself, and he does say "Boo". That's awesome.
Witchers boo at monsters, at it works.
4:25 - 4:50 this is the Geralt i know from the books...
,,Toss a coin to your Witcher......
This is an adaptation of the first part of the first book!
5:11 - right, enough f***ing around
I never noticed how the line "the time of the sword and ax" was used in this game too
Geralt: I did not bite her, I did not, it´s bullshit...
I did naaaht
Oh hai Mark
Y’all saying Geralt always carries two swords on his back, yet here he is in a game carrying his silver separately...
Only in the cinematic. In the actual game he carried both the swords, since Roach was not there in the first two games.
Shiladri Saha You don’t think I know that? This cinematic intro is an adaptation of the short story “The Witcher”... the game is proving that Geralt in the books carries his silver separately.
@@unjee047 he carries em separately in the books since iron still kills some beasts
For anyone curious, this is the fight on the Netflix Series
It's from the first book
@@JuuPau Yes I know that
But this is the fight seen on the Netflix series too
His task was to make sure the cursed princess wouldn't die AND wouldn't reach her hideout before dawn. So mainly to distract her from getting away.
I just hope this story will be first episode of the Netflix serie PLEASE don't mess this up.
