First scene shows Rembrandt's famous painting The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. Then the protagonist leaves the proceedings and thus transcends typical human anatomy. The next scene is an allusion to the Greek myth about icarus. Does our transhumanism ambition make us fly too close to the sun, and ultimately will it cause our own downfall? The rest of the trailer gives an introduction to the world the game inhabits. It describes the necessary social changes that would occur following augmentations and the imagery suggests the perhaps inevitable social inequality that would also result. It talks about conspiracy/corporate power and 3:10 calls back to Descartes idea of Cartesian dualism.

+Jusgentleman 1256 yeah i heard the story was mediocre, and people complained about microtransaction and how the optimization was bad. I'm gonna wait until it is cheaper or if the problems are fixed
+GHOSTLINER5 Don't listen to them. 1) I am about 2/3rds of the way through it and I am very much enjoying the story. 2) The microtransactions were so subtle, I didn't even know they were there until someone pointed them out. They are completely optional, you can complete the entire game without even looking at the shop. 3) I have it on console, so there might be problems/bugs on PC that are different, but I haven't had any game breaking glitches (knock on wood). Anyway, that's just my opinion.
Keep in mind Jensen's lenses make everything more yellow than it actually is, which is a reason the world may seem more yellow than it is, and also a reason why removing the yellow filter in the Director's Cut was a dumb idea.
TheChiperSdre34 Thanks! I always wondered why the world seemed so yellow in the original Deus Ex Human Revolution and I never thought about that it was because of Jensen's glasses - I'm so slow XD
***** I don't know if it was an intentional design choice or not, but I loved the touch and I'm pretty disappointed that they would remove it in the Director's Cut. It was clearly just a filter, could they not have made it an option?
I recall people turning their back on Deus Ex franchise after PR massage from CDPR. Guess who's laughing now :). "If you want to make enemies, try to change something". Man,even after several years and this quote is STILL relevant.Props to that one who came up with such quote.
Having played through the game a few times now, it's weird to look back at this video and see how much was changed, design-wise, between this and the final game.
How much has it changed really? I'm on my first playthrough (Director's Cut on Steam), and as far as I know, the only thing he does in this trailer that you can't do in-game is strafe super fast like at 4:15. (Which actually might just be normal movements.) I've done every other move he did, except I haven't gotten the ability to punch through walls yet. And I haven't done a backflip after a double takedown. (I don't know if it's possible.)
Amaroq64 Actually all of the stuff you see in the trailer never made it to the game. Lots is in, but done in different ways or different ways. Still a great trailer especially the Sarif piece at 2:42 (which in the game sounds rubbish, but the trailer version is good). Also coupled with Icarus the trailer is so much better.
it's a CGI trailer done by Final Fantasy's team, it's bound to be different. Also, love the profile pic, DT for life! but yeah, Barret was actually supposed to have a bigger role in the story but they ended up expanding on him in The Icarus Effect and Deus Ex: The Fall, both of which i recommend. Aside from that though, this does demonstrate a good bit of what Adam Jensen does in the game. It's just a more cinematic approach for marketing.

Anyway, that's just my opinion.
well then, did you enjoy the ending? lol
"Police have opened fire on the crowd" well, seems like some things never change huh?
Still one of the best game trailer I have seen. Gives me chills every time. This game is the best at setting up an atmosphere.
Some trailers may be more technically impressive, some may be more modern, but this will always be my favorite video game trailer ever!
It's now 2014 and the world isn't any blacker or yellower than when the game came out in 2011... I'm starting to get worried ;)
Keep in mind Jensen's lenses make everything more yellow than it actually is, which is a reason the world may seem more yellow than it is, and also a reason why removing the yellow filter in the Director's Cut was a dumb idea.
Its always nighttime in the futute!
ThaTsunamiKid In dx1 it was always night, and that contributed to the atmosphere and feel
TheChiperSdre34
Thanks!
For those who appreciates this trailer. It was made by Studio GoldTooth.
Nice!
DEUS EX: MANKIND DIVIDED BOYS!!
PREACH IT, BROTHER!!
P2o4tube PREACH IT!
P2o4tube YESS!!
HAPPIEST. MOMENT. OF. MY LIFE!!!
I came back to watch this because of that lol
I recall people turning their back on Deus Ex franchise after PR massage from CDPR. Guess who's laughing now :). Don't get me wrong, I love both Deus Ex and CP 2077, but Deus Ex HR atmosphere and gameplay just stays undefeated in terms of cyberpunk related games. I hope the attention given to cyberpunk theme these days ignites the development of new Deus Ex game :).
They knew how to make trailers back in the day
this game is an unrecognised masterpiece
not unrecognised but maybe underrecognised
Who’s still watching this in 2020?
End of 2020
@@nama_wahid congratulations you made it to the end of 2020
2021 for me. I'll never stop watching.
THIS is real cyberpunk, nothing else gets even close
The reality is getting even closer...
*- It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from here.*
This game is eerily accurate when it comes to real world events.
"corporations have more power than the government"
Yet the trailer is eerily not accurate when it comes to real gameplay.
Well? What about Metal Gear Rising?
@Mohammed 20 years is enough time for significant changes to occur
and the first deus ex was even more scary
Can't believe its been 10 years since this trailer was released. This game was and still a masterpiece.
Amaroq64 I wanted to see the police unleash on the rioters, in the game you only see the aftermath.
It kinda did not change that much though?!
