If you’re just cleaning it with water and nothing else, is it really necessary to wait for it to completely dry? The ink is water based anyway. What damage would a bit of water left over really do?
Yeah, the Vac 700 does the same thing. But I only clean it with water and no soap so I don't worry about a little bit left inside.
Thumps up for the help and RHCP!
I'm excited to get the new TWSBI Eco.
Hi, I’m looking at one. How do you like it now after all this time? Appreciate your views.
So helpful, thank you! :D
Love the eco! Hope you guys carry the new lime green one they are putting out soon! I actually like it better than the 580. You cant see the feed on the 580 and more moving parts is more chance to break something. I also dont think the larger nib on the 580 performs any better than the smaller nib on the eco. Finally the price point.
Yeah, we should have the Lime Eco in-stock later this month! Be sure to sign up for the email notifications on the product page so you know exactly when they come in! (www.gouletpens.com/twsbi-eco/c/364/?sortBy=productName+asc&facetValueFilter=Tenant~Body_Color%3Agreen) - Colin
Thanks!
Thank you, Mr Brian Goulet for your help!
Dude, cool shirt!
Q tips put a ton of fibers and lint in my barrel which I worry about tbh!
Thank you for posting this excellent video!
I used tap water. IS THIS THE END FOR ME?
Thank you for everything that you teach me! :)
Your video is very helpful
it seems that always after i clean my pen, the ink i put in afterwards always manages to get really watered down no matter how long i let the parts dry, or how many times i draw ink in and out. is there a way i can fix this, or is it just an issue with my technique? (i squeeze all of the ink out back into its container, and draw as much as possible out onto a paper towel, then i drawn water in and out until the water that comes out is clear, then i let everything dry out)
Not sure what kind of pen you're using, but if you could take the converter out or access the piston (like a TWSBI), then just using a paper down to dry them manually. You could use an ink syringe to shoot air into the converter as well. In general, you might notice the ink being watered down for a few sentences (from the water in the feed), but should normalize after that. - Colin
I'm 11 and i am getting my second fountain pen to use for secondary school (English high school). The main thing I'm looking for is a pen that uses mostly international cartridges but im willing to make an exception at proprietary cartridges (no ink bottles) . Im looking at getting a parker IM, Also i need the pen to dry quickly on the page. (im mainly looking at parker penS)Any suggestions of pens?
Make sure you get a pen with a fine nib. They tend to work better on cheaper paper that you'll probably end up using at school.
TheBlimpAssassin I have the Pilot Prera for school, and it works amazing, and has amazing ink cartridges (pilot namiki cartridge, medium nib)
If you're wanting to stick with standard international cartridge, some great pen options could be the Faber-Castell Loom (www.gouletpens.com/faber-castell-loom/c/243), Jinhao x750 (www.gouletpens.com/jinhao-x750/c/97) or the Kaweco Sport (www.gouletpens.com/kaweco-classic-sport/c/125). If you want to go the proprietary route, I think Pilot is definitely the way to go as they have affordable pens (Kakuno, Metropolitan) and good Namiki ink choices. - Colin
Fifty years ago when I was in primary school, cartridges were used by everybody. We even called our fountain pens "cartridge pens" and most of us were unaware of other types of filling systems. So you are definitely on the right track for finding the most practical type of fp for school. You can carry your spare cartridges in your pencil box. I do question your need for quick drying. Just keep a sheet of blotting paper in your notebook. When you finish a page slide the sheet over your work and flip the page to continue writing. Blotting paper can be reused hundreds of times. For those of us that cut our literacy teeth on fountain pens, wet ink at the end of the page was normal and we naturally developed ways to keep it from smearing. The big exception is for the south paws. Left handed writers sometimes smear because their hand closely trails the pen. For them, drier nibs and inks are recommended.
William Albert thanks for the great advice
I just got it as dry as possible and filled with ink. Ink going through will remove most of any other moisture in there... of course, I also cleaned using tap water, so I'm obviously an idiot! :-)
._. what does tap water do
@@JohnSmith-zf1lq Nothing super serious, but it does have minerals and chlorine and stuff. If you want to clean your pen best, use purified water.
I've never used a fountain pen but I'm planning on getting one, I was thinking of buying this one, but I'm not sure if it'd be good for a beginner, help
Luckily we have a video on exactly that! (ua-cam.com/video/Hf4CcluJH00/v-deo.html) I'd also recommend the Pilot Kakuno. It writes very similarly to the Metropolitan, but I like the look of it a bit more. - Colin
Thank you!
Hello Brian/Rachel/Collin! sure im forgetting someone here... sorry
totally unrelated question: Do you ship outside of the us?
i totally love your stuff BUT, i live in the EU... i can get a hold of sometings here my self,
but in sweden the fountain pen culture isnt all that great (tho i managed to convert my best friend... muhahahah),
and therefore i can get only basics like lamy (i love lamy tho), and other really expensive pens, and besides diamine inks there isnt much else with a greater range than 12-20 inks either... And ever since discovering you guys i fell in love with brands like Noodlers, and especially Robert Oster and J. Herbin (tho i finally found those here), and i NEED to have those.
I think this would also be great for a Q/A vid, since im sure there are other like-minded non US Goulet fans out here who wonder the same, and what maybe aproxx. prices for shipping are (i know details are always hard on that, but an estimate would surrfice).
Anyway cheers, and keep u the good work
Andre
Yes, we do ship internationally! You can read more about our options/rates on our FAQs page: www.gouletpens.com/faq . Rates can really vary depending on the order weight, shipping method, how quickly you want it. That said, to Sweden, I would anticipate around $15-20 using USPS & $40 for FedEx. - Colin
Thanx, i'll deffenetly be ordering from u guys, just need to collect a reasonably big order! But thats very easy here :D
compressed air (canned air) is heat for those of us who line to remove ALL the cleaning water from the pen
Yeah, that works as well. Brian has another slice on that (ua-cam.com/video/glFtE144pIc/v-deo.html). - Colin
