About same, but I like Launch better but they are very similar, it all depends on what functionality you will buy, the unit I have is very nice

Bro please please help me. I have a 2007 BMW X5 4.8. I just replaced my transmission valve body that has the attached tcu. I can’t get vehicle out of park now. I have the launch creader Bmw tool and it’s supposed to be able to get the new tcu linked up but I can’t get it to do so. Any ideas?

Did you or a shop did it for you? In any case, if you removed the valve body, you must install it correctly, there’s a shift lever, it needs to go in correctly to make sure you don’t break it, or turn you will need a new valve body, unfortunately when you take apart transmission, then your problem can be anywhere, if it was me, I would open it up and make sure everything was done correctly before doing anything else, cause you might do damage unfortunately, also question for you, did you replace any seals or sleeves? I hope you did cause they are the cause of similar problems, also solenoids can cause this problems as well

Hello, I did the work myself and have replaced the seals amd mechatronic sleeve. And yes I made sure the shift lever was in correctly. I had my previous valve body on and off twice and my problem was the shift from 3-4. Everything worked perfectly until I got to 4th gear. Then I would get a transmission malfunction error on dash. I bought a used transmission and Ive first tried to replace just the valve body and the tcu.

The TCU that's attached to the valve body is coded to the car's ECU (or DME in BMW terms), so when replacing the valve body or the entire transmission you should swap back the old TCU/TCM otherwise it will have to be recoded to the car. That is the issue you're having. You would think this BMW guy and his fancy scan tool would know that.
