  • Supco Tradefox now has an awesome testing tool out that is basically a thermostat in your pocket! No more pain in the butt jumbled collection of alligator clips, this has everything you need for every task when you're working in front of a unit.

    I soldered a bunch of jumper cables together with switched to them. Than found this tool. What a great invention

    Had something similar to this with dip switches from 15 years ago. Same concept and still have it. But this is cool. Will probably be ordering this too

    This looks like it's gonna be worth it for the leads alone. I jump out a lot of stuff for testing as I not only do HVAC but refrigeration, and hot side. This is cool

      Yea man its been handy. When you get into those nasty air handlers testing heat and all the wire nuts are corroded I just pierce the jacket and continue on.

    So once hook to circuit board terminals . No need to remove the wires . Imean the thermostat wires could also still be attached ?

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  2 дні тому +1

      Yea all the wires can be left on. The tool will complete the circuit bypassing the thermostat

    It’s a neat idea (though not a new idea). However this is nothing that we can’t already do with jumpers. Not sure if it’s worth the cost or the space in my bag compared to simply using jumpers.

      I keep it in its case and grab it maybe once a week. I dont take it out for every call

    • @angelrodriguez6427
      @angelrodriguez6427 Рік тому

      not that worth it , it cost to much and you can already do all that with jumpers.

      It does many other things such as finding low voltage shorts. It also reduces the chance of short cycling compressors

      Been doing hvac for over 20yrs now and I'm all about cool tools but I'm also about lessening the load in my tool bags lol. I'll stick with a roll of good ol fashion jumper wires. And no chance of switches going bad on those.

    How is this useful? You get the same result using alligator clips at the board.

    • @Jumper-King
      @Jumper-King Рік тому

      You can also find shorts and it reduces the chance of short cycling compressors. Additionally it can bypass controls right on the wires with the piercing tips.

    • @AllTattedUp13
      @AllTattedUp13 Рік тому

      It won't find the short it will just tell u if it's on heat side cool side.. tech with some years under their belt can do the same with jumpers and a lil popper fuse. And figure what mode is tripping in 5min.

      Or you can buy a lil popper tool, resetable fuse u just plug into the furnace board. Like $15 at parts houses.

    Do I need to turn t-stat off first before I jump? What if somebody turn on t-stat and I have the jumper on is that ok

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  Рік тому

      Id recommend turning the stat off beforehand. So you know the unit is doing what you want. Yea if they turn it on thats fine. Its all the same power source. If its an issue just pull the R off and connect it back before you leave

    I would refrain from saying "zero percent" on anything, and if it was me, I would feel more comfortable putting a piece of electrical tape over that nick just in case.
