Great video! I can’t wait to try mine out when it’s available for pickup on Friday because I want to play my PS5 off the TV sometimes, and like you, I’m not for playing PS games on my phone. I have the Steam Deck and the free Chiaki option is working ok, but I love the Duelsense feel and want it combined with that nice 8 inch screen. 🕹️😁
Heres the thing. Sony has never done a good job making their remote play app. Be it on a phone or pc or even the portal. It works fine. But. Psplay on android and iPhone absolutely destroys their native app. On pc’s chiaki destroys their native app. Better quality, less latency and ability to adjust actual settings with both. But psplay isnt free and chiaki takes work so Sony native app os easier but by far for me not the better experience
Ahh okay thank you so much for the insight. Im quite surprised that the 3rd parties have better apps for remote play than sony. Think i am leaning towards the steam deck now. Appreciate the vids and work you do!
Hi there, I have one and do like it ish. However, I want to open up my gaming a bit. I just watched your video on Chiaki and Ally and was very tempted to return the Portal and get an Ally so I could do PS Remote and Xbox Game Pass. Is the remote play on the ally the same feeling you would get on the portal? Thanks
Didn’t like the g cloud because i find remote play and other streaming just to unstable. But at least the g cloud has some functionality.. tried to portal, and I can’t live with the micro stuttering.. to unstable.. even though i have fantastic internet and barely any interference.
Easily the most seemless and comfortable option for remote play, with full duel sense controller features it's quality. Just slightly over priced, 150 would of been the sweet spot price but I'm loving mine 🇬🇧
@@nonyabizz3533i have the same problem with my ps5 i don’t know why the upload of the ps5 sucks that way, i have 300mbs download and 100+ upload and i can use that whit every other hardware ( laptop, cellphone, etc ) but the ps5… 250 download / 10 upload lol. I think that may cause some input lag too when streaming.
I've been playing MW3 zombies on my Asus Rog ally and I'm using Xbox remote play and honestly I barley feel the input lag and I'm someone who notices input lag from trying stadia and GeforceNow and Xbox cloud gaming which have all been good but could never play a game like COD multiplayer using stadia and Xbox cloud gaming but remote play I can just get away with it but its mostly the screen size it plays a part in it as well it's just to small to play a fast multiplayer shooter.
I really hope by now everyone knows lol. However theres always a portion of the population especially older groups who rly dont know anything about gaming and buy stuff for holidays. Someone is bound to get this Christmas morning and they dont have a ps5 🤣. My brother who lives on a farm is a good example. He couldn’t tell u what a ps5 is let alone needing it for a portal which he also doesn’t know what is lol.
Parents or elderly people wanting to buy this for their children or grandchildren. They could have added a little extra banner with ps5 console required. For us it’s clear! Sure! But i also understand that people who have nothing with gaming wont understand it.
I have this console and I love it despite all the hate and I’ve been wondering what type of features will they add over time through updates I feel like they will make a way for downloads for games with this maybe through some type of small device connection
I said “ competitive “ lol. I can certainly play and have some fun. But i get double the kills and galf the deaths on my pc lol. It reminds me of playing cod on 360 at 30fps on the slow no game mode lcd tv’s of the 2000’s lol. Doable
@@jeffcarrier9808 thats not what I am saying. Yea i play better on ps5 when not remote playing because i have a 120fps vrr capable tv. The Pc experience is then even better in my desktop with the 240hz monitor and low latency setup. Then there is remote play where i can have fun but can never truly play as well as straight local be it ps5 or pc. I love remote play tho. Been using it for years along with cloud gaming as well.
Not worth it in my opinion. The latency is the biggest problem me and my friends have had even while being connected to the best and fastest internet, almost all games are unplayable. Too much button delay.
Why so many unboxing videos? For instance, there's a console. We get a cable to plug it, another one to plug it to the TV, a controller and a cable to charge it, instructions and we're done.
its just not a nice experience even in the most ideal conditions. I have a super fast 8gb fibre connection, my playstation is connected via ethanet and my streaming device is connected to my super fast 5ghz or 6ghz (depending on the device) £500 router. Its trash. theres a significant enough of a delay that even playing a slower paced game just feels like garbage and ontop of that, even with my super expensive internet setup just looks like garbage. running around and turning the camera with say rachet and clank just turns the image to mush and just blurs up and looses all detail, spiderman just forget about it. alot of these youtubers commonly use spiderman, trust me the minute you move and swing around, again, the image just goes to mush, all detail disapears and it just turns into a really smeary mess. I was hopeing the portal would have something more built into it to maybe give the best experience, maybe a more stable image or less lag. Nope. its literally exactly the same as streaming from any other device. If youd like to see for yourself, download the playstation connect app on your phone or tablet or laptop or computer, give it a go. what your experience will be on the portal is exactly the same as what you would get on any other device you test it on. its a lazy cash grab. avoid

yea i use it to stream by PC games
How do you find the streaming quality on the portal vs using remote play on steam deck? Is it virtually similar?

Not for me but if I were a playstation guy I'd be interested. Just not at scalper prices.
Ebay is ridiculous right now. So many launches get ruined the same way
Excellent video.
Ty was a fun review to do.

I agree. Its a solid ps5 remote play device. Definitely the easiest. I also would prefer a 150.00 price point. 200.00 is the max lol.
Mine works like crap. I cant wire my ps5. But I'm getting 300 download and 9 upload on ps5. Cant return it either. Literally used it for 45 minutes
@nonyabizz3533 Daamn, Sony need to release some stability and quality of life updates ASAP!

Who's in the market for this that wouldnt realize that it requires a ps5? It says it everywhere. Everybody knows that.

It cannot connect to free WiFi.
$200 is a lot to ask for such a limited device

@GameTechPlanet I'm sure this logic can be applied to any piece of tech ever.
@@GameTechPlanet on a positive note.. maybe they also get a ps5 then since they already bought a portal🤣
what if u get stick drift?

can you install emulator PS1/PS2 on this
No. It’s strictly a ps5 accessory to remote play your ps5
For a split controller it sure is divisive. 😂
Indeed 👀🤣
Why do people keep saying you can’t play call of duty ?? It works fine on mine

@GameTechPlanet so you compare to playing on PC not on PS5?

Chakai works a ton better? I don’t understand why it works better on my ALLY! Rather my ps portal
Here for the “Sony dropped the ball on this” comments
One foot back on that horse. Stepping stones.

Best 8 " handheld on the market currently 😜
Get outta here Mute 😂😂. Its an accessory 🤣
@GameTechPlanet 😂... omg that's a great point an accessory wins the 8" handheld genre 🤯

But why can’t it play UA-cam 😅
👀🤣
Oled and better connection hardware
I like the controller - but the device itself is a flop
nice...
Its the worst device. You cant use any other cloud gaming service and runs only in home wifi.
It is strictly a ps5 accessory yes but no its not just home wifi. Can use away from home. Been testing my trucks wifi and my phones hotspot a lot.
I’d love to see a comparison of latency between this and GeForce now.
@GameTechPlanet you can't sign into most free wifi cause it doesn't have a native browser
@@GameTechPlanet👍👍
Why would a Playstation product allow you to use other services?
still seems like it's not worth it to me.
should cost $150 max
