I remember it was 1995, and my neighbor just had a kid. He couldn't play videogames anymore, he walked down the hill, with a PlayStation in hand, and gave it to me and my brothers for free. One of My favorite summers. Battle Arena Toshinden tournaments all summer long.
Playstation growing up was truly what got me into video games. I made friends through it. Same for Nintendo. I own the ps3, ps4 and now ps5. I also own the N64, Wii and the Switch.
Good idea skipping gamecube to own a wii. Backwards compatibility really helped switching teams to afford a new console every gen when feasible. I did similar with xbone to ps5 though I did have a series s when ps5 was out of stock, but it helps giving to a friend and playing another copy of my digital games with better performance. Kinda useless now with steam decks and hybrid consoles playing game pass. Remote play is better everywhere else than ps portal that does nothing standalone. Yet that sold like spiderman 2 which had bugs and sony said they're retiring Peter (no 2 player nor 2 character campaign as you play as Peter or Miles as the missions tell you, let alone mary jane always wins with the taser lol). Ff7 rebirth sold a lot despite censoring Tifa and using a silly stagger gauge, and bsing with multiverse to be a deviantart version of the original lol.
@@monkeyboykc3190 X doesn't always represent a Roman numeral. So X-Men = 10-Men? XBox Series X = 10Box Series 10? Tesla Model X = Tesla Model10? XXX = 101010? XFactor TV show = 10Factor? DirectX = Direct10?
Why not lol people fight over hyped games that are full of bugs or bastardize the original. Let alone sports games and fighters with their predatory dlc and currency when they get obsolete within a year anyway. Though vid may not be best. Short answer is ps5 is console king though they shot themselves in the foot through ps plus price increases (the sales forgive this and the $10/lack of ps5 upgrade version let alone adding an occasional good game, even if you own on a competitor, to load faster). However, the hybrid consoles may overtake it given switch success, and steam deck for a stronger machine though asus rog ally (can't dock to tv) can use windows 11 and that opens up new doors. Xbox is a game pass ecosystem to use on hybrid or series S. No real point to upgrade either digital system as ps5 slim is $50 more and you need a separate stand to go vertical (original did both). Sony also censored sexual content from games more than nintendo lol 20 bunnies (though steam has an adult games filter). I omit series x unless you need physical retro backwards compatible games as many xbox games do not have physicals, let alone releases unlike competitors, and even then, you got access with steam deck as well. At least smart delivery is cool as a free upgrade and series s good filler for out of stock ps5 back then. Limited specs nowadays. It will be difficult for nintendo to compete with this as they're milking mario really badly this year. At least they perform well on the old bird, and are making first party games unlike Sony, who has completely abandoned psvr2 as well after that boring rock climbing horizon game (the Wizards is way better). 1:40 gaming crashed in 2024 and sony/xbox had tons of layoffs unlike Nintendo.
@@pse2020We needed that Sony produce it themselves. Probably tell some stuff that weren't told before. Like some truth of what was happening. Pretty good interview but one thing to clear up is the PS2 became successful due to having a built-in DVD player . The PlayStation 3 became successful not only because of its games but also because of the built-in Blu-ray player which was a brand new Cutting Edge technology at the time.
PS2 was backwards compatible so it felt like the console was consumer friendly by welcoming you to only expand your video game catalogue by having that bridge forward for users and still be able to keep classics you enjoyed. And the PS2 watershed moment for games was the release of GTA Vice City. Definitely helped push the sales of their consoles. Around that time, everyone and their mom were going ham with Vice City playing for days, lol.
The initial high price of the PS3 also overshadows the fact that it has a PS2 chip which means it's backward compatible with PS2 and PS1 games. Later PS3 consoles which sold with a price cut didn't have the chip. So essentially less money for way less feature you can get.
Yeah, this makes the 120m PS4 sales even bigger in comparision. People say console market doesnt grow but nowadays u are certain ur customer bought u for their games not to watch movies on it
11:45 is the US press honestly comparing Sony buying out small developers with ActivisionBlizzard - the biggest third party out there at the time of purchase? 🤦♂️
Everyone does that & it's so irritating comparing small studios to large publishers people don't understand the vast difference in scale. A small studio=Storefront Large publisher=Mega mall.
I still remember all those nights we played a rented(!) Playstation II during summer holidays...with the controller still attached to the console with a cable...At some point, I guess it was 2012, I bought myself a PS3, with Move controllers...loved it, it still works great and me and the kids still use it occasionally...last year I felt like I need an upgrade and after realistic evaluation of my needs and resources (mostly time, but money also), I bought myself an Xbox-Series S and I couldn't be more happy about it...small, portable, very powerful, no discs, very affordable (250 euro)...I've been playing Assassins Creed Odyssey since May last year and it's mind blowing awesome...
Sony and Microsoft fell into their own trap, which is investing only in the visuals of games, leaving fun in the background. They need to spend millions to develop a single game, taking years to finish. This has become a snowball effect. A game doesn't need to be photorealistic, in 4K or have ray tracing to be enjoyable. Nintendo is swimming in money because the focus is on fun and graphics are just a complement.
Nintendo sells because kids and adults can play it. Parents can buy switch to each of their kids and can buy switch for themselves as well. For each family lets say they are 4 a mother, farher, and 2 kids 4 switch for each whereas you cannot do that on PS5 there can only be 1 ps5 in the livingroom 1 TV and that is it.
The same thing happens in the TV industry as well. You have the "Resolution Wars" and the "Brightness Wars". Companies need to remember that what matters is the overall experiences, not just seeing who can pump out the most impressive specs on a spec sheet. Amazing how often that fact seems to get lost in all the noise.
Facts I know what u mean putting that internet piece on the back of the ps2 just to go online was dope it was a whole new concept of the system expanding.
Ps2 playing DVDs was huge cuz at the time DVD players was 1K which made buying a gaming console the better option which in turn made the DVD players prices come down that year in on word but it was still cheaper to just get the PS2😂
The market is set. Create a underpowered tablet, low res screen and no media apps. Make sure the console does 15fps through 30 fps, with some off chance 60fps. Make color full games like princess peach and you win. No one wants a powerhouse with beautiful graphics, and 4k support with all the media apps. No one wants haptic feedback or adaptive triggers. People want small cramped joycons with drift. That's how to win. Nintendo is the winner 🏆
they are just winning because they were pumping many new and old low budget exclusive games and because wii U was a massive failure so a fresh comeback is easier to be done if they do something "right" and they did, switch was ok. Now is too old, gamewise they just make the same jump and run stuff with just different heros.. one day the customers will get bored of the same games or knock off titles. PS 5 is a solid device but it feels somehow abandoned like the series X also does. This console generation is in crysis due to the high development cost(software). They should just stop the exclusivity stuff if they want to bring next gen experiences and graphics, giving PC gamers also a chance ( which they already do and is awesome)

I like the fun Mario and Zelda and just dance games that’s something that I don’t get from PlayStation but to each their own, I think that if you are mature, hard-core gamer, PlayStation is the best thing for you.

As a person that owned a few video games stores in the early 1990s for around 12 + years it’s great to see that nothing has changed except for the graphics. Which is the best console, which is the best selling console, which produces the best games, which is the best games, etc? One thing that has changed and is very bad for the consumer is going to the subscription model where the customer never owns the content.
@@MojaveKnight17 Yup, I still got my PS2 , but honestly think it has an advantage with a DVD player. DVD era in its early stages was a perfect time for PS2. They sold units as a DVD player and video game console. If we just stick with it being a home console the number wouldn't be as high.

The video console wars is a war that little boys concocted. These are companies. They do not care about winning in a sense over another company, they care about profitability and generating revenue from their investments and staying in business. It is not about numbers as well. If Sony could sell a $2000 console but have less people buying the console at the cost of making a console for let's say $50, Sony would choose this route and have less people buying Playstation. Microsoft has trillions and Xbox is just a side project.
You might want to check your facts again regarding this contention that the console is selling at a loss. Just because that was the case in the past does not mean it is the case now.

It's not the same thing at all as Microsoft buying Activision which was the biggest video game publisher. edit: I stand corrected after chatting with @cryptocsguy9282. Sony has bought a publisher before, but it was a very long time ago for a much smaller price; Psygnosis for ~$26 million in 1993, the equivalent of ~$56 million in 2024 adjusted for inflation.

The video game industry was totally different 30 years ago, when Sony had _just_ started competing in this space. It's not even close to the same level of consolidation that Microsoft has done. Acquiring Psygnosis is 1997 cost Sony $26 million, and when you adjust that for inflation it's $56 million dollars which is still just chump change compared to the $69 billion Microsoft spent to acquire Activision.

In what world is Sony "beating" Nintendo? Nintendo makes more money than PS and Xbox combined in take home profits. That being said they aren't even winning right now. They are layoff\closing studios because they aren't making enough money. They just closed one today. They have no first party exclusives for this year and are completely reliant on 3rd party timed exclusives. Which is funny cause that's the problem xbox had during the xbox one gen and got dragged for. I try to reframe from pointing to bias but its crazy you would make this and acknowledge they are on a down slope at the same time. 10 bn off Sony stock price cause of gaming issues isn't a "headwind". They got some big problems they need to sort out over there.
They have first party exclusives. Actually they just dropped the biggest of the year. Stellar blade soon, rise of the ronin, concord. And sony didn’t close a studio, the studio wasn’t owned by Sony, just a partnership
London Studio was closed on February 29th as part of restructuring. Deviation Games (now owned by Sony, as a joint project between the companies) is being shuttered as of today.
@@JDisclmd they don't own arrow head but I'll give you helldivers. Concord isn't launching this year per Sony and stellar blade is made by a Chinese studio, it's a 2nd party. PlayStation studios (1st party) is releasing nothing this year per Sony. Don't shoot the messenger.
I don’t think so. As much as PS is winning in sales, they are still on par or below MS and Nintendo in terms of profit. Even right now, Sony is caught up in a lot of debt and conflict with their practices.
Sony revenue is from multiple places while nintendo is just games and merch, so yes sony is winning in revenue. Sony sells: subcribtions, accessory, ps store cut, hardware, tvs, cameras, audio equipment, a monopoly of “legal” anime via crunchyroll, games, dvds and movies studio. And merch
They beat Nintendo in various areas, including revenues. Also, we are only talking about PS here because if we talk about Sony as a whole they are a much much larger company than Nintendo.
@alexandrecl4331 Well, the switch is a last gen machine, meaning it should be competing with the ps4 and Xbox one. And sure it beats the ps4 with 117mill units sold vs. The switch 139mill, but the ps5 came out and since sold 55mill and if you combine that it beats the switch.
Nintendo Switch is about 15 million away from overtaking the PS2 as the best selling console of all time, so the answer to your question is "most likely no, it won't remain the top-selling game console." PlayStation is going down a path of fewer first party releases (none in 2024), more focus on multiplayer live services (despite nobody still coming close to the behemoth that is Fortnite), removing digital purchases and ignoring legacy content. Video games are so expensive to produce now, and like Hollywood movies, the higher production costs aren't resulting in higher revenue number. Thus, more video games are taking big loses, resulting in lower profits and more layoffs. While Nintendo has many flaws, they have found a formula with using older tech, which lower the costs of game production. This results in allowing them to release more first party exclusives per year, and needing less revenue from these exclusives to make a profit. The dirty little secret is while Sony's first party titles are mostly fantastic, it's still the Call of Dutys and Maddens that rack up the dough when it comes to game sales.
Probably the reason they delayed the switch 2 til next year so they can get that title in the history books. They are already so close might as well go for it and their forecast for 2024 is 15.5million Switches sold. So it looks like they are actually gunning for it.
Tech isn't the reason for the high cost of game development, that problem is caused by the amount of money wasted on crew bloat and marketing. If not for those 2 flaws, games would be made for cheap and become more profitable for either First Party side.
@benkizer9509 Call of duty and GTA games were the topping selling games in the USA every year since 2008-09 with the exception of last year when Hogwarts legacy came out
@@nomercynodragonforyou9688 And game development is made way more expensive through a hire and fire culture that lets all your best developers quit quickly and then having nobody competent to work anymore, causing development time to increase significantly which also significantly increases costs.
They really haven't "beat" anyone though. Nintendo's going on 8 years with the Switch, and it's still outselling the PS5 many months (especially in Japan), while Microsoft's gaming revenue is significantly increasing due to Game Pass & PC support. Gamers like me tend to focus too much on console sales, but there's a reason Sony's reporting constant decreases in revenue & slimmer profit margins despite moving plenty of consoles. The formula of selling hardware at a loss & making up for it with software sales is becoming more & more difficult as game development has become drastically more expensive & time consuming. Just this generation alone, Sony has had to make moves likes increasing hardware prices 2 years *AFTER* launch (an unprecedented move), increasing game prices to $70, charging upgrade fees for PS5 versions of PS4 games, increasing prices of BASIC online to $80, going back on their pre-PS5 comments about "we believe in console generations" and not supporting cross-gen like Microsoft had announced (as nearly every PS5 "exclusive" was also released on PS4 up until last year), releasing games on PC, changing PS+ to a better compete with Game Pass, etc. etc. etc. This is a trend that's hit basically everyone but Nintendo, as they don't rely on cutting edge tech & prefer to sell cost-efficient hardware at a profit from day 1. They're also extremely protective of their IPs (sometimes to a detrimental extent that hurts their own fanbase), and lock everything down to their own systems. Nintendo also sits on a mountain of cash in the bank, no debt, and were recently named Japan's richest company. As a guy with a Mario profile pic, I probalby sound like a Nintendo fanboy. In reality, I'm a PC-only guy who avoids playing on Switch unless I absolutely have to. I want Sony, Nintendo & Microsoft to all succeed in their own unique ways. Game Pass is fantastic, Sony makes some extremely compelling narrative-driven games, and Nintendo has so many IPs they don't even know what do with (*cough* F-Zero *cough*). To say Sony "beat" anyone is just ignorance to the state of the industry though. In pure unit sales, they definitely beat Xbox, but that's obviously not Microsoft's M.O. anymore. Though if you want to go by that metric, Sony still isn't the leader, so it's a moot point.
@ivanbarroso865 That's quite possibly the dumbest "gacha" I've ever heard... "If McDonald's makes so much money, who do they keep opening new locations?!" "If Billionaires are so rich, why do they keep trying to make more money?!" Or if you still don't get it, let's stick with video games. "If Persona 5 was the best selling Atlus game on Playstation, why did it come to Xbox, Switch & PC?!" "If Pokémon made so much money on Nintendo consoles, why'd they start making phone games?" You're basically asking "why do successful businesses keep trying to make MORE money?" Shouldn't they be happy with the money they have? 😂

I will take PC all day every day. It's just annoying to see Sony fans act like 1 less console existing would somehow be a good thing 🙄
Since you have been able to buy the PS5 without any problems, it has been leading global sales figures every time. The PS5 has no longer been sold at a loss since the summer of 2021. Profits fell because Sony paid off Bungie. Microsoft has high fixed costs because they bought 2 publishers. And Sony still makes more revenue. You also forget about the economic problems. Inflation rose enormously, especially in Europe. That's why Sony couldn't sell its 25 million consoles because Europe was weak.

This isn't really a good thing for Sony. What will happen is that they'll just let the success go to their head and they'll just become arrogant and think that their customers will take whatever slop they feed them
Kinda happened already and they're actually suffering right now since they had to lay off like 8% of their entire workforce. I wish Microsoft was doing better so there would be more incentive for Sony to do better. Title is still inaccurate since Nintendo still makes more profit since their costs are lower. Nintendo also doesn't directly compete with Microsoft and Sony anymore since they follow their Blue Ocean strategy.
All you Sony haters are just proof they're the best. Playstation is the best platform to game. All you consumers talking all this cooperate mumbo jumbo is just grasping at straws.
Yes, the "secret sauce" of the console was key to its success. PS1 had insane amounts of data storage with it's CD, the PS2 increased that 5 fold and gave access to play DVDs as well. The PS3 followed the same recipe and gave BluRay access and over 10 times the data again. The PS4 was garbage and I never owned one. There was no "secret sauce". The PS5 is beyond stupid, they spent half the consoles worth on a completely unnecessary SSD that provides zero benifits over even a SATA SSD, so again, no "secret sauce" and again I don't buy the console. The PS3 was a bit expensive at launch, but it was the best console Sony made, and it's been a downhill snowball ever since. And how funny is it to see how big the gaming industry is, all the while all you hear is how game Devs have it so hard these days because the price to produce a decent game is so expensive, at the same time creating a game has never been easier, just like how anybody can be a broadcaster now thanks to tech ology like UA-cam, anyone can developed a AAA game in their bedroom thanks to Unreal Engine etc. The problem is there is no originality anymore, everyone is a sellout, no one wants to work for anything, and most of all, people have no shame!!
Personally feel that Nintendo is beating Sony at the "content is king" logo. Although not as powerful as the ps5, the stitch is portable, it has decent, presentable graphics, and it has a wider range of games that appeal to a wider range of demographics from kids to adults. Playstation feels like it is suffering the problem that the film industry suffers prioritizing high-quality visual photo-real graphics over substance (personally feel that photo-real games look ugly). Also rarley hear kids wanting a ps5 over a switch.
I switched from Playstation to PC gaming and realized just how durable Xbox controllers are in comparision to Playstation controllers. The subscription fees for online multiplayer gaming on consoles isn't something I care to deal with so COD Warzone on PC works great for me. Funny how their anti-cheat system is hyper-focused on PC's when it's actually the console players that cheat.

If Xbox continues to be a weak competitor, I’m afraid Sony is not gonna get much better than they are right now. I know for a fact that they’re gonna exploit their customers as much as they’re able to. Have you seen their refund policy? If you buy a game digitally, and just even start the download, you are no longer able to refund it. To make it worse, when you buy a game, it automatically starts downloading. This is terrible and completely anti consumer. If you or someone at your house ever accidentally purchase a game from their digital store, you will never get a refund!
@@GamerHomegirl Physical is definitely the best! I would still encourage you to set up some type of protection on your systems. @sagbag856 lol, I don't own Xbox nor ps. Did you actually watched the video? He’s referring to sales. Switch has one of largest install bases in history at 141 million as of end Feb 2024. And unlike the PS2 and DS, the Switch install base is still growing. Considering Nintendo won’t launch a next-gen console until March 2025 at the earliest, that will likely mean that Switch will be sitting at around 151-152 million units by next year. That’s not very far from the PS2 record.
I cant believe its been 30 years already. I never had the ps1, but I had the second, third, fourth and fifth. Nintendo 64 was my ps1 back in the day and I personally preferred it, so I wasn't even mad that I didnt get to have a ps1 especially knowing the ps2 was backwards compatible
Playstation 1 was magical in the 90s, with 3D character models I had never seen in my life, and i was 13 when I saw PS1 at someone's house. I had grown up on NES for 10 years before that, jealous of all the kids who had Super Nintendo & Sega. Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 7, Syphon Filter, Parasite Eve, Silent Hill changed my life
Okay but like gamers the world over need to pressure Sony into taking a possible resurrection of the PSP a lot more seriously. Imagine a proper competitor to the Switch.
I'm glad Jim Ryan is retiring. He's so full of nonsense. Reporter: Why were you against the Activision Microsoft deal. Ryan: It was because of Call of Duty. Reporter: Why didn't you sign the Call of Duty deal then in the beginning? Ryan: Don't ask me logical questions!!
Microsoft’s original deal offer to Sony in January 2022 was "all existing Activision console titles on Playstation, including future versions of CoD or any other current Activision franchise on Playstation until 2027." The deal that ultimately ended up being signed was different and concerned only CoD, for the next ten years.
@@cryptocsguy9282 not dumb, just logical. How do you expect to make back that revenue from a huge merger by making it exclusive to a black trash can console that can’t sell worth a damn.
@NoMadKid Revenue, yes. However, you'd be surprised about profit (revenue - cost). Sony makes a TON of revenue, but their excessive costs result in Nintendo making a bigger profit in general. This includes the costs of making games and the fact that the heads of Sony take home MUCH larger paychecks than the heads of Nintendo. If you also see the FTC case that Microsoft was in for their merger, you can see that Nintendo makes more 1st Party Revenue (revenue for titles they published) than Sony or Microsoft. Sony does have better 3rd party support and makes more on their subscription plans, so they get more overall revenue than Nintendo in those sectors, however.
Beat Nintendo? Dude this year the Switch will surpass the PS2 as the best selling console of all time, Mario Kart 8 will get to the top 3 best selling individual games of all time. I am sorry but owning a PS5 nowadays is like owning a luxury item not everyone can do it.

Sony yes... Ms mostly hardware not so much software.
Nintendo sells because kids and adults can play it. Parents can buy switch to each of their kids and can buy switch for themselves as well. Yeah, this is a poorly researched video.
Not in games
The video console wars is a war that little boys concocted. These are companies. They do not care about winning in a sense over another company, they care about profitability and generating revenue from their investments and staying in business. It is not about numbers as well. If Sony could sell a $2000 console but have less people buying the console at the cost of making a console for let's say $50, Sony would choose this route and have less people buying Playstation. Microsoft has trillions and Xbox is just a side project.
PS5 isnt sold at loss. And you are counting a last generation console vs a new one.
You might want to check your facts again regarding this contention that the console is selling at a loss. Just because that was the case in the past does not mean it is the case now.
0:22 "the library has been the number one thing" *shows all PS2 games* the PS2 was the greatest system library.

Have you done any research. It’s the worst time of Sony’s playstation yet. It was not able to achieve its projected sales, no new triple a titles till 2025.
". It was not able to achieve its projected sales"
...No, the PS3 was the worst time for PS ever. This doesn't even come close to that; as much as PS is facing headwinds, they're also massively benefiting from their entrenched status as the 3rd Party default platform.
They could lower there price for ps5..
At least at that time, they were able to bounce back within the next couple years by making meaningful changes to the PS3 by reducing the prices and introducing far more exclusives that made the PS3 worth buying. Stuff that Sony's just not doing at all with the PS5. @@arglebargle5531
You haven’t done any research. Sony isn’t putting out any new exclusives, but they certainly will have new games releasing on their platform like Stealer Blade, a new IP, in April.
10:08 Sony has never bought a video game publisher. They have only ever bought video game developers, and only developers that they had partnered with many times already anyway.
Sony has bought a total of 2 publishers in its existence
Because they can't afford it, Sony are nearly bankrupt, if they could afford big publisher they would too,
@@batosaims absolutely they would if they could. there was even a rumor that Sony was gonna try to buy Take Two if Microsoft was successful with this Activision acquisition. But Sony has only ever bought developers, and only developers that they worked with many times. Microsoft bought two whole publishers who developed multiplatform games to make them under the Xbox umbrella. so what that reporter was saying was very much a false equivalency.
@FaZeFurhod that's an outright lie they bought out Psygnosis as one of the 1st studios they bought when the ps1 launched , Psygnosis both developed games and published them , they made wipout but published lemmings which was made by DMA designs (later known as rockstar games) . Lemmings isn't owned by sony but by rockstar owner take2 interactive
@@cryptocsguy9282 ...it's not a "flat out lie". Psygnosis was acquired in 1993 back before the Ps1 even launched. And Psygnosis was still just a developer who self-published games, they weren't a publisher with multiple studios under their umbrella like Activision is.
Let us not forget that a PS2 was cheaper to own than a DVD player back in the day, so many people bought a PS2 for that reason.
Nintendo on the other hand are just a gaming company, they don’t have many devisions such as Sony and Microsoft
Nobody bought a ps2 for dvds. It was just a plus feature.
@@WavyJayZwhen I was a kid that was how people convinced their parents to get a console or their parents got the ps2 regardless of them wanting a GameCube because of the dvd player. If the ps2 wasn’t the cheapest dvd player on the market it wouldn’t be #1 and I still have my ps2.
@@ganymedehedgehog371 idk how old you were in 2000 when the ps2 dropped. It was not cheap, it was 300 for the console. I remember in 2001 my family bought a HD DVD player for less than 200 bucks. Dvd players were expensive in the 90s, they were affordable by the 2000's. It's a huge stretch to claim the ps2 sold so well because of the DVD feature. That literally nonsense.
@@WavyJayZ I was a kid but everyone in school got one because it served the double purpose of a dvd player.
If the dvd player had nothing to do with it it would have been a closer match between the ps2 and GameCube. Give a reasonable explanation as to why the ps2 sold as much as it did when gaming has only grown bigger over time. There isn’t any other explanation for the ps2 being such an outlier aside from then being the transition from vhs to dvd. There is no other explanation for the ps2 sales especially compared to future consoles and even it outselling the gba.
@@ganymedehedgehog371 you do realize the ps1 sold over 100 million. Most people that bought a ps1, got the upgrade. It was fully backwards compatible, and the graphics upgrade had people lined up to get it. I remember my older cousins getting it on release, and they gave my little brother their ps1. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. The DVD player was a good selling point but it was not the main reason at all. The ps2 literally had thousands of games for a reason. The gamecube couldn't compete with the games even though it was a more powerful system. I put alot of hours on the gamecube and the Xbox, but they pale in comparison to the time 8 spent on the two ps2 systems I owned. I didn't even watch a movie until the late 2009 on that thing. By that time I was looking for other modes of entertainment if you catch my drift 😏🤣
Ive never been a big gammer though I do enjoy playing from time to time. Going from a ps3 to a ps5 a few months ago, this will be the Last console I buy. Ive played it maybe 5 times in the last 3 months. The cost to play now days is ridiculous! Its also far to complicated unless your a gamer nerd! Much funner when you put in a disc, wait 30 seconds to load then you play.
You have to be a millionaire to play multiple games these days. You buy a game then are expected to pay 100s to get the full dlc and access to it ffs
ok Boomer.
$120 a year and almost a thousand games available.
it is cheaper than ever if you subscribe to Game Pass or PS Plu, especially you. You have almost the most important games of the PS4 generation there
It's not complicated. It's just like PS3 was - buy a disc or buy from their store. On cost - PS3 consoles were somewhat cheaper than PS5 is, however PS3 games were $60 too. They're cheap now only because PS3 games are old and 2 generations back. Such drama.
Playing on consoles is not the same as it was in the 90's and 2000's. It's more practical to just build a good gaming PC today.
Not really, PC gaming is dying a slow death, handheld gaming is taking over
In what world is Sony "beating" Nintendo?
What studio they closed today? The one they dont even own?
They have first party exclusives. Actually they just dropped the biggest of the year. Stellar blade soon, rise of the ronin, concord.
And sony didn’t close a studio, the studio wasn’t owned by Sony, just a partnership
London Studio was closed on February 29th as part of restructuring. Deviation Games (now owned by Sony, as a joint project between the companies) is being shuttered as of today.
@@unbitr1 yep the one their contract was 100% funding. Pulled funds=closure.

I don’t think so. As much as PS is winning in sales, they are still on par or below MS and Nintendo in terms of profit.
Even right now, Sony is caught up in a lot of debt and conflict with their practices.
😂...yup 😂
They are not beating Nintendo at all.
They did in home consoles.
Nintendo sells more consoles than Sony, and makes 3x the profit. If that’s not beating, i don’t know what is.
Nintendo Switch is about 15 million away from overtaking the PS2 as the best selling console of all time, so the answer to your question is "most likely no, it won't remain the top-selling game console."
PlayStation is going down a path of fewer first party releases (none in 2024), more focus on multiplayer live services (despite nobody still coming close to the behemoth that is Fortnite), removing digital purchases and ignoring legacy content.
@benkizer9509 Call of duty and GTA games were the topping selling games in the USA every year since 2008-09 with the exception of last year when Hogwarts legacy came out

lmao beat.... nintendo has more units sold in the world....
Nintendo is not directly competing with Sony and Microsoft
Sony made Nintendo run away from the AAA market. So they won in that sense.
Nintendo has always been a child's audience. Sony and Microsoft's is AAA, adult-themed gaming. TOTALLY different, kinda apples to oranges..
PS5 entering the latter stages of its life cycle
Ps2 best selling console lol
If it weren't for the fact that I'm a gamer on all platforms, I would really believe this title.
Lmao if Microsoft were making money like you say they are then why they put 5 exclusives on Sony which four of them you can get on the switch
@ivanbarroso865 That's quite possibly the dumbest "gacha" I've ever heard... "If McDonald's makes so much money, who do they keep opening new locations?!"
"If Billionaires are so rich, why do they keep trying to make more money?!"
Or if you still don't get it, let's stick with video games. "If Persona 5 was the best selling Atlus game on Playstation, why did it come to Xbox, Switch & PC?!"
"If Pokémon made so much money on Nintendo consoles, why'd they start making phone games?"
You're basically asking "why do successful businesses keep trying to make MORE money?" Shouldn't they be happy with the money they have? 😂
@@corey2232 exclusivity matters what’s the point of owning an Xbox if I can get anywhere else lol which implies Xbox will be the next Sega again you thinking Nintendo can beat Sony is very laughable and delusional Nintendo doesn’t have triple A games like final fantasy 7 rebirth or even a game like Baldurs Gate 3 lol
@ivanbarroso865 I don't care if you own an Xbox or not. I'm not a console warrior, nor do I care what plastic box yall want to fanboy for. Unit sales is what us gamers gloat about, not what the shareholders & execs care about.
Profit & profit margin matter, hence why MS & Sony are laying off people left & right with the rest of the industry.
You also act like Sony isn't putting their games on PC... So why get a PS5? "The games come out later though!" And? You're acting like Sea of Thieves (5+ years later), Pentiment & Hi-Fi Rush (1.5 years later) coming to Nintendo/Sony is sooooo earth shattering.
These are the same games that weren't worth your time for all these years, but now they're suddenly huge gets for Playstation?
Watch, in 5 years if Playstation gets Starfield, fanboys will be dancing around acting like it's such a big deal, even though this whole time yall been saying it sucks.
When Halo, Forza, Fable, Indiana Jones, Starfield, Hellblade 2, Gears, etc. come to Playstation or Switch 2 day 1, then you can pretend Xbox has nothing. Microsoft's leaked Financials show they made just as much revenue from gaming as they do Windows... and that was BEFORE the ABK acquisition.
Then again, I have zero Xbox consoles.
The real issue here is that this company’s are charging full price for a digital version of a game

This isn't really a good thing for Sony. What will happen is that they'll just let the success go to their head and they'll just become arrogant and think that their customers will take whatever slop they feed them
Already happened
Kinda happened already and they're actually suffering right now since they had to lay off like 8% of their entire workforce. I wish Microsoft was doing better so there would be more incentive for Sony to do better.

If you believe for one split of a second that another company can beat Sony or Nintendo , you're a fool .
Sony has better games . The PS5 plays all 3,454 Ps4 games titles that have been released .
I switched from Playstation to PC gaming and realized just how durable Xbox controllers are in comparision to Playstation controllers. The subscription fees for online multiplayer gaming on consoles isn't something I care to deal with so COD Warzone on PC works great for me.
The switch came out in 2012 the PS5 in 2020... you see whats wrong with your Steatment?
PlayStation 2 PS2 is the G.O.A.T - Greatest Of All Time 🤔💭🎮🔼⏹️❎⭕️👍👌💯
Videos like this to me usually means a gaming company is going downhill and going away when the history is being recapped.
Beat Nintendo? Dude this year the Switch will surpass the PS2 as the best selling console of all time, Mario Kart 8 will get to the top 3 best selling individual games of all time. I am sorry but owning a PS5 nowadays is like owning a luxury item not everyone can do it.
Ps2 best selling console so
Will? As in haven't done any of these things yet? Thats why they say Sony is winning. Nintendo is pretty good though.
Sony is a luxury tech company now, so yes they doing what they mean too, be premium
Keep on dreaming
@@gsst6389 Sony's low quality hardware premium?
Recents news doesn't say what you are saying.
yeah it worse losing 10 Billion stock price closing and cancelling game and studios. Deviation the latest fool to get in the sony bed of lies sony pulled funding and the studio just had to close and cancel their game now more jobs gone
Facts
It burns doesn't it?
jajaj
it does actually. ps5 is beating both the switch and series X
@@SpectacularView1Only after the switch has sold over 140 million going into its 7th year and still in its 7th year. And sony just lowered their annual sales numbers by 3 million units. With the sales numbers going down switch is still dropping enough sales that they will probably have the biggest selling console of all time by the time we get the next switch. And not to make this any longer, but final fantasy 7 rebirth couldn't even boost sales for the PS5. And that's most likely going to be its biggest exclusive for the rest of the year. They're shooting themselves in the foot with the choices they're making, especially software wise. Nintendo has done nothing but drop software banger after software banger after software banger with each one of them doing franchise record sales. Nintendo is the richest company in japan . Don't forget Sony is in Japan. Nintendo does some weird stuff sometimes and they mess it up every now and then, but they're getting it absolutely right. I don't see anybody stopping them the way they're moving right now.
So happy for history of PlayStation and my childhood
Completely Agree
We all remember Atari. There is never a guarantee that a video game brand will stay on top. Nintendo, PlayStation, etc. are only as good as their latest exclusive top selling game. Hardware is secondary.
What PlayStation did for gaming In the 90's is what Nintendo did on the 80's
I prefer my cracked switch oled. Powerful, compact and unlimited games library
Powerful 🤣🤣. You gotta bait harder then that
Unlimited cell phone games?? That are litterly available for free on every single device? Yes zelda too. My God, have mercy on this man's remaining brain cells. You're cell phone has EVERY single game on the switch plus all the smaller cell phone games on thier. Get a life my poor friend. Whys it cracked, too broke to replace it?
You'd pass away if you got wind of how powerful modern handhelds are. Like the asus rog ally
Nintendo, are you serious? PS5 and the Xbox are a joke in terms of exclusives. And that is coming from a PS fan since PS2.
0:50 "series 10" lol smh
In all fairness, Xbox’s console designation system is idiotic. So, yeah, he gets a pass. 😆
It's a stupid name no matter what.
From PS1 to PS5 As long as the company keeps creating I’ll keep buying
If you’re owned by a major third party publisher, you’re not an independent studio…. You’re owned by a parent company…..
Nintendo isn’t really competing with Sony. But if you count units sold, the Switch is dominating.
