Full list of sensors on the Pace 2, as some of you have pointed out I missed a couple. Go watch the full review here: ua-cam.com/video/wjW8qxb_lNI/v-deo.html I promise I mention them all in that one!

how will the pace 2 be rated against fitbit sense?
Thanks for ur detail comparison
Super thorough review, greatly appreciated! Through research, I had narrowed it down to these two watches so this video was very insightful. Thanks!
Thanks, I’m guessing you have made a decision by now then?
@@chrisguess Yep! Ended up going with the Garmin 245 music. Appreciated the design elements, the more well-established ecosystem, and the ability to have music without having to bring my phone. Have been using it for a few weeks now and happy with the decision. Thanks again.
Thank you for the excellent comparison! So much details. This video helps me choose the watch that suits my needs. Keep it up!
No problem
I recently bought the pace 2. I had been using my galaxy active 2 which was pretty unreliable and has terrible battery life when compared to dedicated running watches. When I bought the active 2 I thought I would use the music feature, and over the last two years I haven't used it once so the pace 2 was a no brainer for me. Thanks for your videos, your last few videos about the pace 2 and the coros app helped me in my decision.
That's great to hear that my videos helped you decide and that you are pleased with the Pace 2. Honestly a lot of people tell me that music is not something they are interested in, at that point I agree the Pace 2 becomes a no brainer.
Just lost my active 2 to water damage. The pace 2 looks like the best replacement so far
Duuuuude I am using the active 2 rn and trying to find a better running watch. The battery absolutely sucks, I agree. I like having music, but its not necessary.
Yeeeaaaayyy! Awesome comparison! :-) I have chosen the garmin fr 245 music, and i love it!! Thanks!
Thanks. Glad you like it!
Do you still bring your phone with you?
Nope
Awesome comparison, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I bought the Forerunner 245 about two weeks ago and I think it’s a great running watch! I love that it has way more running dynamics than my Apple Watch and I’m a big fan of the buttons. Like you said they might be a bit mushy at times but they are way better than a touchscreen. I was going to get the Pace 2 but personally I kinda wasn’t a fan of it having that digital dial, the 245 did have a few more features that I was interested in. Thanks for the video!
I totally agree, buttons over touch screen every time. I still am yet to try an Apple Watch though! The dial takes a bit of getting used to but I really liked it in the end.
Very comprehensive review indeed. Very nice.
Thanks
I have a COROS Pace 2 and it's the only running watch I have ever used so I'm not familiar with Garmin. However, i was attracted to it for the battery life and the simplicity of the controls. As for music, I don't need it. I always take my phone with me anyway and can use it for music, messages and calls if in an emergency, but frankly I don't want to be disturbed by calls or messages while out running. That is purely me-time. For me not having that on the COROS is a plus.
That’s fair, if I didn’t need music I too may have picked the Pace 2. It’s a great watch so you shouldn’t be disappointed.
Such a tough decision. I run 4-5 days a week and currently training for a few races, but also regularly do strength training in the gym. The Pace 2 seems to have a slight advantage, but only slightly.
It’s definitely a tight call and I would be happy with either.
I been thinking to compare between this 2 bad guy. Than just pop up into recommendations. Hat off nicely done sir.
Yeah I've been meaning to do it for a while too. Thanks.
I had the Forerunner 245 music and loved it. I just bought the 955, but also thinking of getting the Pace 2 for a couple of its offerings and app. Good comparison here of both!
Yeah, I know what you mean I’m fine with my 245 it does everything I needed to do, but I still sometimes think of getting a pace 2 as well.
I got the Pace 2, and really liking it overall. Great battery life, solid experience with an iPhone, integrated power measurement is a plus for Strava users. Coros really blew it out of the water when it comes to the battery life.
I would have preferred tactile buttons for the run, but it is very convenient when you’re not moving very quickly. One gripe is having to adjust the watch or tighten the strap mid-run, when the HR sensing trails off.
I agree with most of what you say here although I found I really liked the dial overall.
I’m assuming that you are using the Velcro strap and that’s why you would need to retighten?
@@chrisguess yep, you're right. I used some promotion code shared by their ambassador on twitter, and got both silicone and velcro straps. I've been using the velcro one. It doesn't have the refined look, but I like it for this quick-and-dirty utilitarian sense. It pulls off just easily enough that it's really easy to adjust it while running... but it didn't occur to me that this might be the very reason that I had to retighten sometimes. I'll give their silicon strap a try.
I feel like the barometer on the Pace 2 should have been discussed more. I am a trail runner and the 245 lacks this feature which is like my #1 metric when doing some big elevation runs. Garmin has the gps elevation but I believe the Pace 2 displays in real time your overall gains. This feature alone for trail running makes the Pace 2 the overall winner. I agree with all of our other comments though!
I totally agree, It wasn’t mentioned purely because I had completely forgotten about it. It’s always hard to get all the points into a review of a single device but doing device comparisons just boggles my brain 🧠. I did remember it in the full review so hopefully people will watch that one as well and get the full picture. It’s here if you haven’t seen it: ua-cam.com/video/wjW8qxb_lNI/v-deo.html
@@chrisguess your review was spot and and really helpful! Not knocking any part of it
Thanks I appreciate that.
This is what I searching for.
Call off the search...
After one year with the Forerunner 245 Music: good features for running, but disappointing battery life and frustratingly slow GPS satellite signal acquisition (compared to my former Forerunner 735XT).
I'm ok with the battery life but it could be better, I think it's really the music that kills it. I guess it's still better than say an Apple Watch or similar.
Can I use the Coros Pace 2 for trail running and is there any negative side affects to that.
Does the Pace2 work with Garmin HRM Pro? Thank you.
Hello... Really great videos of yours. For me the real question is not what running watch should I buy but I run this much in miles or kilometers over this amount of time and want to improve... Then get this... Want to sustain... Then get that... Want to only have fun.. Then get this... The watch is only a tool and is as useful as you include it in your current workout routine. A running watch will Not make you run. Cheers.
Thanks.
That’s an interesting angle, I would need to test a lot more watches and run a lot more miles to be able to answer all of those, I like the concept. I agree none of them will make you get out and run, some will be slightly less annoying when you do though.
Well, thanks to your reviews I bought the Pace 2
Hope you enjoy it!
very interesting comparative thank you. for my needs perhaps pace2 could be more suitable. Too bad for third-party apps especially for Nike run club, do you think this thing will be implemented?
No problem.
Honestly I can't see it happening anytime soon. I was trying out some work arounds to upload the data but I can't get anything automated to work.
@@chrisguess thx Chris for the reply, we will see what happens 😁
I'll be buying coros pace 2 and it is my first smartwatch to buy, I hope it has a better performance.
Fingers crossed you like it, I think it’s a great watch especially at the price.
I love my 245M. I bought it mainly because of the music storage on the watch. I don't have to carry my iPhone anymore when I run.
That was one of the biggest selling points to me too. Other brands are beginning to catch up though...
Which one would you recommend if you use it with the stryd pod?
Could you make a video about it?
I don’t have a Stryd Pod to try I’m afraid.
The Coros looks good but if I had to suddenly replace my 245 now I think I'd still get it again. One thing about Coros that leaves me a little dubious is that they've managed to get promotional exposure through some UA-cam channels as well as Kipchoge. There does seem to be some good performance and value for money though it must be said. For me if I had greater confidence in a particular watch regarding heart rate measurement and GPS tracking then that would likely be the winner for me.
One thing I noticed about the 245 compared to the 235 (the similar older model) is that the average speed on the 245 would give much more varied readings than the 235 in areas with a lot of trees. I could be wrong but I always thought that the 235 measured distance more accurately than the 245 does.
So what is your message?
Hi Chris, i have a small question about Forerunner 245. Is it possible to disable all connections (Bluetooth, Wlan..), and does it has a airplane mode toggle (flight mode) ? Thanks..
You can turn on and off everything and there is a flight mode.
@@chrisguess hello Chris I have the same question about the pace 2 please ?
Also I have a stryd footpod and I'm hesitating between this coros one and forerunner 245, which one is better in your opinion ? Thanks again for this great video 😃
I know you are mostly discussing running but what about open sea swimming?
Which of the two is the most accurate?
Thanks!
Sorry bud, I have no idea. I’m not much of a swimmer.
2023 here, March 2023 to be exact, Nike Run Club is now able for Coros Pace 2 connection.
Wow, that’s brand new information. I need to check this out!
I'm currently deciding between these two and am leaning towards the Coros because of 1) the price; 2) running power on the wrist; and 3) triathlon support. How useful is the running power metric?
3) it’s the only consistent variable when training so super useful if you’re looking to get fitter
What Ben said. The Pace 2 is a great watch, go for it.
@@chrisguess Ordered it and looking forward to playing with it! Thanks for the feedback and detailed reviews/comparisons - really helped the decision making process.
Glad to be of service
@@chrisguess Been playing with the Pace 2 for about a week and I love it. I really like the nylon strap and the crown, and it's got a lot of functionality without being overwhelming. Thanks again!
Pace 2 has a barometer a thermometer and a gyroscope... All things the 245 doesnt have. Great comparison non the less
You are right somehow missed these off, I did mention them in my original review ua-cam.com/video/wjW8qxb_lNI/v-deo.html
Also forgot open water swimming which is a great feature for entry level watch. And cheaper accessories when you need to replace something. I own 245and absolutely hate the slow gps locking. Pace 2 will be my next purchase.
they are not needed - since they are not accurate
@@skyrace730 i have a pace 2, all the mentioned instruments work fine. Thermometer is only accurate when you dont wear the watch on tour wrist, as with all other watches... I use this watch for logging sailing trips, cycling and running. Great for long distance stuff!
Yes but can I follow a track? Can I use the function yo return for the same Path?
I`m just going to buy the Coros Pace 2 and I wonder which band to choose the nylon or the silicone one. Which one is better in practical use?
Having now used both, personally I would opt for the silicone one. Much better for sweat/ water and it doesn’t show the dirt like the nylon one, especially if you are thinking about getting the white one.
Thank you very much.
Great video! Should I wait for the Next Gen Garmin or just buy the 245 straight away? I'm new to running. Thanks!
Thanks.
That’s a tough one as it’s been out a while, but if it does everything you need it to do now and it gets you running get it now. There will always be a new model along to replace the one you have, you’ve got to jump in at some point.
@@chrisguess Thanks a lot! 🙇🏻♂️
Pace accuracy??
hi which one would you recommend that has the better sensors include heart rate measurements?
Sensors are very similar but the Pace 2 has an altimeter if that’s important to you. It’s also a bit cheaper, although the 245 is often on sale. Honestly I like them both, the Garmin probably has more of the features actually on device the COROS relies on the app a bit more.
Thank you, Chris, for this video!🙏 Does Pace 2 count floors climbed? I think the 245 doesn't. Right?
You’re right
Nope it doesn’t
Good morning, The forerunner 245 is prime day discount but I've never been lucky with the garmin button feedback. The coros pace 2 has no active offer .. it seems slightly more eco-friendly than the 245 ... in short, I can't make up my mind! 🤔😅
I have individual reviews on both if that helps, check out the channel. For what it’s worth I still use the 245.
Same doubt Fabio, what is your choice? The coros it looks great especially for the battery life but aesthetically it does not drive me crazy
😂tbh I would buy the 245 on discount, and then sell it for a profit and buy the pace 2. You still get a really good watch and save more money.
Does the pace 2 have a navigation function where you can follow an uploaded gpx file?
nope
@@massimoamerica6726 That's a shame. Thanks for the quick answer :)
The app supports it but only for the higher end watches I believe.
Can you set alarms on the pace 2 and does it vibrate on alarms?
Yes and yes
Hi, nice video! I have 245 (no music), 935 and pace 2. As a triathlete I prefer de pace 2 over de the 245. As a running point of view they almost tie, but Pace 2 has barometer and power running
I think the two main points that keep me using the Garmin are the music and NRC integration. Two things which won’t be important to a lot of people. I have to say I have been thinking again about making the switch 🤔...
935 vs pace 2 for mountain running ?
Not tried the 935 so I’m not sure to be honest, the pace 2 is definitely capable though and cheaper.
hi, about the gps accuracy. Did you notice any difference between garmin 245 and pace 2 ?
Hi Chris, for the Bike, Fr245 vs Coros Pace 2, which is the best?
I can’t help with that one I’m afraid, I don’t cycle.
I am using Pace 2 with Garmin cadence sensor and it's working great.
pace 2
So Coros Pace 2 doesn't have app integration with Nike Run app? Bummer....
No, you could download the GPX file from the app, then upload into Garmin connect and sync from there but despite trying a rather complicated Siri shortcut I couldn’t automate the process.
IMO it's unfair to say the pace 2 performs better than the 245 based on music performance when there is no music on pace 2. GPS issues agreed.
I did mention this and it was part of helping people decide between the two. As I said at the end if music is not important to you then I would recommend the Pace 2. Ultimately the 'Winner' is the watch I choose to use but there is enough information in this video and the individual reviews to hopefully help people make a decision.
@@chrisguess fully understood. Just wish the Coros Pace 2 was readily available. Its awesome
Yeah I know it’s difficult to get hold of, hell even I don’t have one. If you sign up to their mailing list they have in the past let you know when it’s back in stock.
Good video
Thanks
I think you fell short on the Pace 2 sensor list.
You're right I know, I go through them all in the full review but I missed them in this one.
I believe you did not mention that the Pace 2 has barometric altimeter and temperature sensor which the fr245 does not have.
I had the Pace 2 for a couple of days and loved it, but the heart rate sensor was very unreliable for me (it had issues while sitting steady or running).
I ended up returning it and getting the fr245 and I'm really enjoying it.
Came here to post this!
Yes, you are right I know they are kinda important ones to miss out. I mention them in the full review but missed them in this one.
That's strange I always seemed to get consistent readings. Glad you're enjoying the 245 though!
A few people did, I have to mess something up or there's nothing for people to comment.
I love my Pace 2, accurate and great altimeter. Wrist heart rate is awful so a chest strap is mandatory if you want heart rate.
Size and weight makes it perfect for me when mountain biking.
Can you do 255 and Coros?
I have no plans at the moment. I don’t have either watch at the moment.
So..we need to buy premium to play music offline?
Yes, regardless of device.
Does coros have an android ap?
Not sure, just check the play store
I will link it up here and down here 😉😉😉
Just in case you didn’t know…
I have the forerunner 245 music. The music functionality is gimmicky and I quickly gave up on it.
I don’t think it’s gimmicky when it’s working. I use nothing else for music when I run.
Coros Pace 2 has navigation.
Nike run app syncs with Coros 2 now
You are correct sir, I made a video about it: ua-cam.com/video/z4TTNggOgz0/v-deo.html
Dont forget all the connect troubles by garmin during all the time.
It's a good point, that is one of the things that makes me think about switching.
Pace 2 has running Power Meter
Good point.
If the Coros Pace 2 would have some form of navigation, not maps just breadcrumb mapping, it would be the best watch on the market! Hoping that the Pace 3 will include that :)
I guess they would point you to the apex or vortex for those features, but yeah that would be cool.
I think they just added navigation support few months ago in a firmware update.
Got my 245 off amazon £160 brand new
That is a great deal!
@@chrisguess sure is the deal only lasted a day too so i was lucky
Great timing then 👍🏻
which one should i pick now?
255.
@@Jay-sd9ye soo, that's what i did lol, are you the 255 owner?
@@fearless5533 I own Garmin instinct 1, instinct 2x, forerunner 955. The coros pace 2 and galaxy watch 4.
The 255 is basically a 955just cheaper and no maps.
@@Jay-sd9yedo you think there is no point to switch from 255 to 955 because of larger battery?
@@fearless5533 depends. On a upgrade, not much to get an upgrade for if u already own a 255. Yes it will get 10+more hours of GPS time over the 255. And maps. A few other metrics that don't really matter.
I never found charging a watch every week a problem. Who can't find time to charge a watch every week.
The solar part, a waste of money. Its supposed to lengthen the battery use. Not really charge it. My instinct 2x I found myself sitting in the sun for hours in hopes to get 1or2% extra charge. I probably got sun cancer from all the sun I was purposely trying to get, for hardly any difference. During an activity, your not always in the best position to get the most from the solar charge. So I feel it's a gimmick.
pace 2 good watch
Agreed
Pace 2is best
Close call…
Comparison should be apples to apples. Garmin 245 only a running watch, and Coros pace 2 is multisport watch..
Why should they only be apples to apples? I made the comparison because it’s a common question, which should I buy?
the guy just fan of garmin that's why winner is garmin) pace2 cost 200 usd and have all features with is you can find just on gamins premium model price range 500 usd and up
Nope. Prices are very similar at the moment, especially if you don’t want music. Which if you listened to what I said, means I would recommend the pace 2. Not sure where you are getting 500 usd from. Mine cost £240 about three years ago.
245 with music the battery is like Apple Watch! Pice of c……
I guess that all depends on your expectations.
yes best bang for the buck garmin 245 and after one year of use is full of white dots on the screen... just beautifull and useless!
Never had this issue with mine and I’ve had it for around three years but obviously it’s not perfect as I pointed out in the video.
No veo éste video parcial. Debería haber ganado el Pace 2. Muy mal esté video !
The coros looks like a toy watch.
Not a fan then? 😭
@@chrisguess is it not? 😁
Totally biased review. Coros is value for money n better battery life, gps, barometer. U r biased
Explain why? Also I recommend the pace 2 at the end and I have done individual reviews of each. What makes you unbiased? Is it just that your view is different to mine? All three reviews that feature either watch were unpaid and based on my experience of using them for an extended period of time. If anything I should be biased towards COROS because they let me borrow the watch, where as I had to buy the Garmin. You don’t have to share my opinion but you need to have a basis for your argument.
The battery life is not actually better... in real life. They only reach the estimated battery life if you don't use the gesture backlight and if you don't do real-time heart rate monitoring. If you turn on both of those (like most sport watches), you get about 7 days of battery life.
Not the case in my testing, which the results of are very clear in the video.
