@@InTheLab3d maybe. But unless PCs were released with linux, people will generally be more use to and or have experience with windows. Learning a whole new operating system on a brand new device mainly for gaming is kinda bummer IMO.
@@BodofLegend Because SteamOS is optimized for the Deck specifically. Like Alan Kay once said "People who are really serious about software should make their own hardware". And you can see how much more streamlined the Steam Decks user experience is compared to the Ally.

I got mine in the mail a couple days ago... I've been doing everything on it more than my PC.. which makes me conflicted I expected it to be good... but not this good. 😅 I love the fact I can do anything on it that I can on my PC.
It's fantastic. I haven't enjoyed a windows gaming experience in the total package this long in a long time. I find myself starting off seeing how much I can get this device to run, and so far it's been very little that it won't. If the battery would run top titles for 5 hours before needing a charge, it'd be about as perfect of a handheld as you could get today. The fact that it is also a standard windows computer is a bonus for power users/IT types. One device to rule them all.
I went back and forth over what to buy between this and the Steam Deck, ultimately I went for the Deck mainly because of the price, what I saved got me the dock, a 1TB nvme drive to upgrade the deck and a power bank, that said I was lucky enough to compare them side by side, a friend is a tech head and he had both and I was leaning toward the Ally if I'm honest simply for the screen, it's amazing, you really can't appreciate how good it is until you use them side by side, it really is that good. Another reason I went for the deck was that I found when using the Ally it stuttered on more demanding titles not massively so but enough to be an annoyance, but that stopped when I had the power cable connected, also to get the performance it boasted over the Deck made it very power hungry though in fairness it's easy to make the Steam Deck chew through its battery power on demanding titles as well. At first I thought that using Windows on the Ally would also be the difference that would've made me choose it over the Deck but Windows is a double edged sword, it's one of the biggest strengths of the Ally but it's also a weakness, if there was ever an excuse for a cut down mobile version of Windows for a mobile device, the Ally is it, I think in the future if Microsoft can find a way to deliver a more mobile device friendly version of Windows I'd pick one up in a heartbeat. There's a lot to love about the Ally but I think it will be a better buy when it's had a year or so in the wild and I do think I will pick one up eventually, just that moment the Deck was a better fit for me.
I 100% agree with you. However, I went with the Ally instead. Mainly because it's Windows which I could use it as a desktop and that I don't really go anywhere. I simply want to game on bed or the couch lying down lol . i think both Devices are good and there's really no good or bad decision. It's just different use cases.

you can play pretty much any game you want on the rog ally but not every game on the steam deck. Sometimes even if it´s on steam you can´t play it. So i don´t know being able to play every game vs. not every game is a pretty strong selling point.
OMG! I want one! This will be on my black Friday or Cyber Monday sale wish list. If it can play all my Xbox Game pass games, it's mine! I want it, this is like having a mini Windows 11 computer. Also love from India and your demonstration style is gorgeous. Don't stop doing this dude. Btw I don't play games.
waiting for mine to be delivered, can't wait.
Not a single reviewer so far has mentioned how well FPS games like Warzone 2.0 perform on this!
Did you even look tho..
One UA-cam search and I see eta playing that exact fuckin game you lazy ass

Nice gaming handheld. I personally am a fan of the Ayaneo devices, and currently own one myself, competition is always a good thing for the consumers
The only issue i have with the ally is the unnecessary cringe gamer aesthetics of the thing with ASUS Rog products, otherwise something more minimal or sleek in design would be much better.
I pre-ordered mine this weekend. I am so pumped about it. I hope I can get it on Tuesday and it won't be sold out and I have to wait, I have to go out of town for two weeks and this will definitely help with the downtime.
I pre-ordered yesterday ,picking it up at Bestbuy in about 7 hours. Absolutely stoked. First game? MGSV
The battery life is a deal breaker for me and the design is also very obnoxious. I like the design of the Loki Mini Pro because it just looks so sleek and clean. Nice and simple. I think thats what I"m gonna go with. Would like the Ally if it had a much simpler design and better battery life.
That display looks crispppp
I’m sticking to the Steam Deck until we get the Steam Deck 2.
Cool!

This is genuinely one of the best devices made I've seen in a while. Theres really nothing bad to point out its just. wow
people need to start seriously asking themselves what they want out of there computer. i mean, for me. video games was always number one. DOCKing this thing makes it a gaming computer
This is the best of both to me. I don’t have a PC, but this does what I need.
This thing is a beast, especially when you add something like or better Mobile 6850m XT to it, I don’t need a PC
dude this review is really really good keep it up you just got a sub
Thanks for the sub!
You still can't beat the steam deck for price, their software, UI and long term support. No idea if asus will drop it after a year
Valve approves this message.
They guaranteed support for 3years
Not about SD.
I understand your point (although I’m not comparing this with the Deck, as this is a standalone device that does things slightly differently).
you can play pretty much any game you want on the rog ally but not every game on the steam deck. Sometimes even if it´s on steam you can´t play it. So i don´t know being able to play every game vs. not every game is a pretty strong selling point.
I bought one of these yesterday for my trip put if the country OMG this is insane love this video is one of the best explanations of this ROG
Thanks for the review! Cuz I am going to buy it😃
NICE GAMING HANDHELD, Bro. Thank you for this video.
OMG! I want one! This will be on my black Friday or Cyber Monday sale wish list. If it can play all my Xbox Game pass games, it's mine! I want it, this is like having a mini Windows 11 computer. I just want the developers to put an Ethernet port with a dedicated power supply like laptops and make the device all black with red buttons. Thank God they finally invented something worth investing.
Great review you contribute so much in my purchase… I bought my LG C1 cause of you and so much more more Now I will take this cause of this review thanks 😉
I’m usually not a fan of this type of thing but the ally looks great tbf, I can ever get over the RGB cause you can turn it off 🖤
Exactly yes, the RGB is one click away from being non-existant haha
You provided the best detailed review on the device. Thanks!
Already ordered mine!!! Can’t wait for Tuesday!!!
