  • Educational series describing the basic construction and operation of a quick exhaust valve. Fogot to mention, if you fill from the chamber side, a spring behind the piston will help keep the piston sealed when beginning filling.

    My favourite QEV is a Clippard one that you can find on Amazon for less than 15 $

    Is this system sensitive to bumps and shocks? If the device is dropped, what force would be sufficient to false open?

    • @swandonovan
      @swandonovan  6 років тому +2

      Paxmax it depends on what you use to trigger / pilot the qev. The qev itself isn't sensitive to shock.

    A delrin nylon or pvc piston would be lighter and move faster as well as the fact that pvc is great at gluing

      I made one out of delrin in an earlier video, and it didn't turn out well

      Swan Donovan what was the issue with the synthetic piston? Would a Teflon piston seal you think?

    nice and very informational! I've seen some videos where they are putting a spring behind the piston through the 'R/Exhaust' port to make it semi automatic (very unclear if it dumps all of the air in cylinder). do you think that will work instead of using the 3 way valve and the small air container?

    • @swandonovan
      @swandonovan  6 років тому

      Raunaq mn if you read the video description, I actually mention the spring. Spring is only used when filling from the chamber side. Doesn't have anything to do with semi auto

      @@swandonovan I think he means that the spring allows you to shoot once via a quick burst of air out the exhaust then when you release the trigger from your fire control mechanism, with the assistance of the spring, the piston will move against the exhaust more rapidly allowing you more shots from the same reservoir without dumping all your air in 1 or 3 shots

    I would like to know how you figure out volume needed per shot, especially with the valves you buy. Say like to propel a paintball, I know what my tank output pressure is and can regulate that down, but how do I determine volume?

      Unknown how much psi it can handle. I'd assume well over 1000
