Good luck with the Phenomenal. I'm in zone 8b and I didn't have any luck with it. Brynna is such a happy girl. It makes my heart smile to see her there with you!
Same here! Zone 8b too. I had no luck in ground or in a pot. When I planted it in a pot, I did a layered medium (1/3 each, using rock at bottom, then sand on top, and soil on top that). I just gave up on lavender and use salvia to get that look. lol
Beautiful Jenny!!!! I have some Butterfly bushes too and yes, love watching the butterflies on them. I have however noticed some dragonflies in my yard. First time seeing them...maybe because we have had so much rain up here? But I welcome them...they are so cute! Brennan is precious! Love seeing you both! Blessings from up here in Richmond! 💕
I live in western NC zone 7A. I planted Provence Lavender last summer and they are doing fantastic! It's grown 3 feet tall by 5 feet wide (some are bigger than others) Just thought I would share.
The ajuga (? Spelling) in the crevasses of the path looks so full & lush!!! And Brynna is growing so quickly - and more beautiful every day - like GSD do😊 I’m following about the lavender - need something high tolerant for Delta heat all day!
I’ll have to try that lavender! Thanks for sharing all the details. Although we’re not in the south but Midwest we have heavy clay brown soil. I’ve got an area that used to be a red granite rock garden with landscape fabric so the soil is just awful. It’s a mix of clay and gravel. Once all the rocks and landscape fabric was removed I planted some perennials that are really struggling down towards the bottom of the berm where its really gravely. I love those pugsters too! They’re so cute!
O yes. I'm with you !Watched Laura, planted 8 cans Sweet Romance and I killed it, too-even planting it in what I thought was drier conditions along the driveway! 3 days straight of rain did them in! Zone 7b-upstate SC.
I found out about Sweet Romance Lavender from Laura and like you have struggled with it ! After watching your videos, I understand why and living in the Charlotte, NC area is part of the problem. After seeing your video this morning, I will be visiting Creekside to purchase "Phenomenal" Lavendar this week ! Thank you Jenny !
In Missouri, my pugsters are over achievers! Definitely have out grown their area in where they are planted. I’m just hoping they will take well to being dug up in mid July and transplanted.
Thank you for mentioning what size auger you are using. I had asked you couple weeks ago what size you were using on a video. You mentioned 5”. Got mine ordered, now. I’m trying to find. Drill handle as it’s heavier than I expected. Also loving my rocker and table from HD. I chose navy blue and love it. So many compliments
Okay, I am already in line for the Valentine’s Crush hibiscus. I need something that is true red in my garden-even though it’s not generally in my palate. I WILL find a place for that plant! Thanks for the introduction, Jenny. ❤️
I love red flowers, but I was never a fan of red hibiscus flowers...until I saw that Valentine's Crush! 🤩❤️ I'm definitely buying that next year. The growth habit is perfect for my yard!!
Good morning Jenny, Brynna is with you like Russell is with Laura, I used to have a kitty that no matter where I was outside he was with me or close by, my husband always called him my guard cat.
Oh Jenny, thank you for this video! I am zone 7a & have now officially “over loved” 3 of my 6 new sweet romance lavenders. I may be trying again but I will now be planting up much higher! You mentioned your success of the new little line punch hydrangeas, I planted one in the fall and have absolutely zero blooms, it’s in full sun and has irrigation, thoughts???
What is the name of the grass to the right of the Maidenhair Ginko? I’m enlarging a flower bed and love the looks of that. Trying Butterfly Bush for the first time. Wish me luck. 8a N Alabama.
I swear Jerry needs to call my husband and tell him it's okay to plant butterfly bushes and other flowers and shrubs in July. I go to pick up flower's or shrubs and he says "it's not a good time to plant them." I just tell him to watch your alls videos and you will see it's okay to plant flower's in July. I just go buy the flower's and shrubs and then he has to plant them.
I’m in zone 7A. I have a Miss Molly & a Pugster Amethyst. Both planted high. Did not amend the soil. The Miss Molly lost all the blooms when I planted it. Then bloomed again & lost them. It looks awful. The Pugster never rebloomed after planting. Am I in the “keep it alive” phase of this plant. Or the “sleep?”
Brenna you probably won’t get this I hope you do . I would love to get rid of my butterfly bushes bc of overgrown my flower bed but it’s too difficult. You have any suggestions?
This has nothing to do with this video, but I am growing the PW red strawberries this year. The Japanese beetles are murdering them. Has anybody ever had this issue? I hate to use a pesticide on something my son eats off the plant.
Yes, unfortunately the beetles love the plants as much as we do 😫. We are trying to flick the beetles off as often as we can, and then once they are gone for the season we will trim off the tattered leaves so the plant can flush out new growth.
We have never had an issue of Proven Winners buddleia setting seed and spreading in our area. Perhaps the older varieties were an issue, but that is certainly not the case with the plants we use.
