- With everything that has been going on in the world this year, we have had additional time on our hands and we have spent a lot of this free time working in and improving our butterfly gardens around our house! To say we have added on a few things would be an understatement, so today, we want to share what we have created in our garden spaces! We hope you enjoy this video and that it inspires you to start growing in some of your available spaces around your home! This is the most accurate butterfly/pollinator garden I’ve seen on UA-cam. WELL DONE!
Jay is wearing the flower over her right ear , which means she is taken ... if she had worn it on the other side , there would be a huge traffic jam on the way to her house ...... aloha
In the Hawaiian culture, if you are to wear a flower behind your left ear, you are married and/or unavailable. Wearing a flower on the right side signifies the opposite, that the person in question is single and possibly looking for love.poipubeach.org/blog/hawaii-flowers-how-to-wear-them
Actually you're completely wrong. An unavailable woman wears the flower at her left ear.
Jay is the “purrrtiest” flower you have Cole
DAMNIT ! that's what i was gonna say ..
@@woodsmanwhitesmith6928 there's a whole bunch of us thinking the same thing! And of course... we're all absolutely Correct about that!!! 😊
Truth
You seem like a Richard gene fan. I love Richard because of all his info he shares.
Macaroni with the chicken strips
Spending time together outside working on the garden and yard has been the new normal at my house this year. I live at 6000 feet and have 4 acres of prime Colorado landscaped yard and flowers. Growing plants and fruit trees with birds and bees dancing through them sure beats watching CNN and local news. There is beauty in so many things around us if we just get off the couch and go outside and do something with the time we all have. Love this kind of video showing your passion for the plants and animals. The smiles and laughter that you both have makes all of us smile too. ;-)
The apricot colored cone flower was extremely beautiful. All your flower gardens are very lovely.
Wow again!!! Busy bee's!!! Very beautiful and keep up the fun!
WOW !! What an amazing garden .. You guy's have Mother Nature on speed dial...the volume of plants and color are crazy,, where do you find the time ?? ... Extra fun just to see the joy you get from it all......It's no wonder you have so much enthusiasm and always big smiles ,,, your lifestyle is animated ... in flowers ,, sunshine and butterflies........ What no Unicorns ??..
A couple of packs of zinnia seeds go a long way! Haha they are super easy to grow and take care of. Don’t need to have a lot of spare time for them. Thank you so much for watching!
Excellent vid, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in about flowers for monarchs. When I was a kid we had tons of a flower called "4 o'clocks" the monarchs loved them and would lay their eggs on the leaves. Thanks guys.
As I listen to you sharing why you chose certain species of plant life, I’m reminded of a great statement. “Knowledge precedes action.”.
Your flowers are VERY nice! Plants feed off of sunlight, water and YOUR energy! I truly believe that!
I love the way you guys together love the flower gardens!!🙂
Our yard is full and I mean of native plants and any flowering plant that will grow in Central Fl. Great to watch all the different types of butterflies that are attracted. Your garden looks beautiful.
Cole and Jay I absolutely love your butterfly garden it's so beautiful 🥰🌺
Y'all are two really good people.. My wife and I really like yalls videos. Keep it up!!
Cole and Jay, -
Well done, on your beautiful flower garden! 🙂
It is a labor of love with a purpose and meaning!
Can try a ranking plant on border fences/overhead structure,- granadilla; Chayote marrow - sechium edule; etc!
When the plants have died off, dig them into the ground as fertilizer for next season's crop. Add in used tea bags!
Put earthworms in there, they will grow well. Just before you start planting for the next season, dig in with a garden fork to get worms for fishing (Using a spade will chop some worms!)
You can take it further by planting outside your garden; example, with lillies on each side of your jetty, along the shore line; and in swampy areas!
And fennel out in other areas for wildlife! 🙂
Butter fly Heaven !!!!! 🐛 🐝 🐜 🐞
That is an Amazing Garden. Its easy to see the hard work that made it that way. Thanks for sharing so we can enjoy it too.
Nice garden you two, looks like a a great place for lots of critters to call home! 🦋🐝🌻
I’m envious of your green thumb skills.
Jay the flowers in your hair was a very nice touch.
We fertilized our garden with a bunch of Shad and cow manure lol

Stay safe
Those are some great looking flowers. Reminds me of my mom. She had flower beds all around her house. You two are doing well with both flower and traditional vegetable gardens.
Thank you, this is the first year we have had some extra space and attempted to grow some veggies. We are glad that it is working out so far!
I loved this video. Love what y'all are doing with the garden. Very cool. BTW who are the 14 miserable people who hate beautiful and important flower gardens that help pollination? SMH.
The bergemot (bee balm) is beautiful -- the wild ones in the Chicago area are more of a baby blue. I photograph a host of wildflowers -- black-eyed Susans, several different varieties of coneflower, butterfly milkweed, as well as common and swamp milkweeds -- and so many more!
I am not a gardener, but my Mom was, and I learned a lot from her when I was a kid about the area's wildflowers.
And we have sweet Joe-Pye weed, Eupatoriadelphus purpureus, around here, too! And we have a slightly different prairie blazingstar, Liatris pycnostachya, in Illinois.
Awesome stuff and another great hobby for you two to enjoy together.
Thanks as always for sharing your adventures. You both are a joy to watch. God bless and prosper you both!
The wild bergamot we have were beautiful when they were in bloom! The blazing star we have is Liatris spicata! Thank you for watching!
Hi neighbor! I live near Indianapolis, Indiana. I have a lot of the same plants that you have and also have the red bee balm. I transplanted from a previous house that we lived at for 14 years. It had no flowers when we moved in, but had butterfly gardens all around the property. I transplanted a few things before we moved includ8ng that bee balm that I had purchased from Lowes or Home Depot. I drove by my old house and saw that the new neighbors had mowed all of the flower gardens down. It was sad for all of the work that it had taken me to do that.
We don't care how long your vids are! We lovem!
Yes found you, can’t wait to see more garden & rearing butterfly videos😀
Awesomeness! I Certainly Enjoy All Videos! God Bless!
Looks like you both stay pretty busy beautiful flower garden and your fishing videos doing great job with all you do , great work you do with everything
We don't see how Jays heart could be any happier. Goodness. You two are living a dream.
Jay, that is some great photography. Many people don't realize how much work is in a garden like that. Now I know what y'all are doing with all your fish heads. :)

Beautiful gardens! Can’t wait to see more as the season progresses! 🍆 🌸 🦋 :-) You two are so in love with all
of nature and it’s a joy to see! The first video I ever saw of you was the one where you released the baby snakes that you had hatched. The second one I saw was the one where Cole makes a prosthetic wing for a monarch. And I was hooked right then and there and I subscribed to my first and still favorite UA-cam channel! You guys are totally awesome no matter what you are doing. Keep living life to the fullest (and take us along with you when you can!) Thank you Cole and Jay for an educational, exciting, funny, and clean channel! You are the best! If you ever decide to have a family, those are going to be some blessed kids to have you guys as parents!! God bless you and keep you safe.
U guys have a gorgeous flower garden, thank you 4 the tour. Beautiful flowers 4 a beautiful couple! Love u guys!
Thank you!
Fried green tomatoes are the bomb beautiful flower gardens
Hi Cole hi Jay oh my God you have such a beautiful garden they're beautiful I mean really nice so colorful and I can tell the bees and butterflies in the hummingbirds are going to have a blast there I used to grow a lot of flowers when I had a yard and it was mainly for the pollinators I used to love it because I lived right next to a farm and he had bees in my yard was full of clover and the bees would come over and we all over the place is literally used to have to cut it down to the turned out my youngest daughter was allergic to bees but I still have kept a lot of flowers like the lilies and everything you know Columbine all kinds of daisies Shasta daisies the Mexican all kinds of days is all kinds of lilies Rose's everything and I miss it I'm glad you guys are doing it is such a fun thing and growing vegetables in with your flowers is perfect it really is anyways I hope you enjoy your tomatoes to call I love tomatoes you should just give it a chance you know try if you like eggs fried eggs with slice of tomato and cook it in with egg oh my God that is so good anyways I love what you doing I know this is kind of long please take care God bless they safe can't wait to see the next it's nice to see something different like this every once in awhile it really is
Your gardens are awesome , reminds me so much of my Grandmas house . Always had a veggie garden all the way into her 90s . Flowers everywhere too . Really enjoyed the tour .
Tomatoes like salt. Trust me. So to help you, grind salt over them and try them. the salt really activates the flavour. just try a small amount at a time and let Jay eat the rest. But that salt will really get you loving them.
Beautiful Garden you have created there.
Very nice. Across from where I live( which is on a busy road), was a plot of land that had been sitting unused. And it was, for some reason, a haven for sunflowers ( or something of that sort.) And it would attract bees and butterflies. This is in Colorado Springs, so you don't see much of that. But they eventually leveled the lot. So no more sunflower and insect garden, sadly. I seem to recall some butterfly garden somewhere in town, but when I was there, it was not attracting them :)
Monarch’s are my favorite butterfly 🦋
THIS IS LIKE MY DREAM THX COLE AND JAY!
Your gardens are beautiful!
I love your gardens!
I love to garden!! Cole try planting 1 yellow pear tomato plant. It will get huge and is my favorite of all tomatoes. I like to wash 20 or so with a couple banana peppers mild or hot and stick them in the fridge. The next day when I get home I repeat this and take out yesterdays haul. Now set under the shade tree crack open a cold Coors and munch on the literal fruits of my labor!! Mmmmmm!!!
You have a wonderful garden! Thanks for sharing 🌱
Wow, fantastic job on your garden. Great video. Thanks for having such a wholesome and caring show. Love you guys. God bless
You two are the cutest couples. Love your spirit!
Wow! What Beautiful gardens yall have! We try to plant wildflowers every year. We have massive sunflowers around our vegetable garden. Vegetables are our main focus. Would love to see an update.
Thanks for sharing the fruits of your labor with us!
Wow!!!! Very impressed with the variety and numbers of pollinator flowers for the benefitial bugs!!!
Hey, next year maybe add a hive of honey bees. Just a thought- 😎
Beautiful Butterfly Garden. Your hard work has shown. ✨✨✨
Thank you!!! We are so ready for spring/summer to get back to work on it!
Wow, I know I'm just a kid but ill be out of highschool soon and seeing not only you but many more encouraging people, I think I want to focus on making the world just that much better for wildlife. Owning a sanctuary seems the route I want to go.
Awesome. Very Sweet. I think thats very cool.
that is such a beautiful garden and you two have put lots and lots of hard work into it.and jay is such a gorgeous lady.i think surely there are lady fans that make remarks about the brave brown eyed handsome man.
Thank you so much for watching!
We love this video! We love all your videos. We have to back them up and play them again because Cole talks so fast! He could make a great auctioneer. Thank you so much for these vids! With Covid 19 out there , all we do is fish and garden. You're videos a timely and wonderful! Thank you!
Thank you! I need to slow down. Lol I feel like I have a lot to say and don’t want the vids to be too long so I just talk faster! 🤣
Every year I grow a number of hot pepper types ... To many to eat
I make a wall of hot peppers to keep critters from passing through them to get to the rest of the garden
It is not perfect , as this trick has to be repeated after about ever time it rains
But I also dry lots of hot peppers
When the bugs start eating my garden
I make a "Tea" out of last years dried hot peppers and spray the garden , that cuts down the bugs eating the garden a lot
You guys have beautiful gardens. Great job
That is a really beautiful home garden. Really nice video. 😊
The one thing I love as much or more than fishing is gardening!
Pretty garden! If you want to attract more butterflies, plant more host plants like partridge pea for Cloudless Sulphurs and Gray Hairstreaks, plant Rue for Giant Swallowtails. Giant Swallowtails love Tithonia (Mexican Sunflowers). Thanks for helping the butterflies!
Thank you! We had a lot of Giants use our Rue last year!
We love gardening too! Thanks for planting for the pollinators, they need all the help they can get these days! Your flower gardens are wonderful!! I'm very happy that you guys took the time to show off your gardening. Going to look for that lion's tail plant for sure, never seen one of those. Big Smile after watching this video. Thanks!
The Lion’s Tail is awesome! It just keeps blooming!
The orange flowers at the 2:07 is what I grow too! They are beautiful. I think they are called Mexican Torch. I grow a lot of Zinias for my wife (which I save seeds) and will send you some of the seeds, my pumpkin seeds, Scarlet Runner Beans seeds (massive climbing vines). I would also like to introduce you guys to Lemon Cucumbers too. Will send seeds very soon. Love your channel and videos! Great work and video work.
Your garden is beautiful but Jay is the pettiest thing in the garden Cole is the luckiest man in the world
Not disappointed on missing the okra! Eeewww!! Rest of it is beautiful, though!
Loved your butterfly garden. Ean from Adventure Farm and nature reserve in Tobago in the Caribbean on this beautiful day. We plant a lot of pollinators including large flowering trees for our hummingbird.
Kudos for supporting the monarchs. We have been doing the same in central Indiana, 5 years ago they were nearly gone but we have been seeing increasing numbers. It's good to know we can make a difference.
Like a beautiful portrait, the garden is amazing!😁👍❤
That’s the coolest butterfly garden ever 🐝🦋🐛🌸🌺🌻 that’s great that you are raising butterflies 🦋
Dwarf Nasturtium ( Tropaeolum minus) are a great flower for pollenators. They grow quite quickly from seed and do spread but the colours are incredible. Make great trailing plants. I used to grow them back in the 80's. Another great thing with them is they encourage growth in other flowers in particular roses. Not sure if they will grow in the USA but here in the UK they thrive. Again, another great video and Jay with a flower in her hair stole my heart. Thanks guys.
Love your videos! You guys are wonderful, thank you!
My husband isnt a big tomato fan but he does like them in spaghetti sauce, soups, chili, enchilada sauce, salsa, ect.. He is realizing how pricey they are too and how many varieties there are so he has been getting more excited about growing them
Thank You for your commitment to the preservation of the environment. I started a milkweed (and other flowers) in a background garden a couple of years ago in my small yard when I started noticing a large decline in our local butterfly population including Monarchs, Zebra Heliconians, Swallow-tails, etc. So far the results have been difficult to assess this Season. I'm hoping for a positive rebound, but I fear that rapid development is destroying the environment. pollinations are "the canaries in the coal mines". Anyway, great job and thanks for another entertaining and enlightening show.
Beautiful garden. Great work guys
What a beautiful array of flowers ! Another testimony to the Glory of God , who loves nature and loves the beauty in it...(after all - it belongs to Him ).. Thank-You so much for sharing the garden with us ! The love you have for plants and animals is awesome.... ... May you be blessed in all that you do !!
Thank you so much!!!
This makes me wanna raise butterflies and plant gardens
You should! Thanks for watching!!!
Unbelievable!! I have bee balm, which is one of my favorites. Did you grow a lot of your plants by seeds? Awesome job!! Please continue sharing as things change in your garden. Blazing star is incredible!! Do you get a lot of rain or do you water a lot? I didnt think it was possible to like you guys even more, but you guys just topped it with this video!! Thank you so much for sharing your incredible garden. Love purple cone flowers and black eye Susan's. You have such an incredible gigantic butterfly garden and the entrance to your house is incredible. Weeding must be insane!! Love the mulch, raised beds, trellis of bamboo, lion's tail- wow! I have never heard of that. Flagstone stepping stones too!! Where do you buy your seeds? Do you grow them indoors and then transplant them? Love tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peas. Have a nice garden, but love all of the variety that you have!! You guys rock and I swear we are related!!
We grew probably 75% of what you are seeing here from seed and then a lot of it has either been perennial or reseeded! We start a lot of our seeds indoors 6wks or so before the last frost and then transplant so we will have early flowers and then will do some successional planting to have good healthy plants all season long! Really glad you enjoyed this episode. Seems we have a lot in common! Take care!
@@COLE_and_JAY what does your winter season look like? I have seen snow in your videos from time to time and it looks like you can fish almost all year long, which means your ponds rarely freeze on the surface, right? Are you able to plant as early as March or April? I live in Indiana so we can't plant safely until after Mother's Day normally. I got a late start this year and decided to try seeds and also containers. The late start is really affecting the fruit and vegetable production however. I have been catching up with all of your prior videos the last month. Last night I just watched the Coke can challenge at one of your friend's houses. That was awesome!! I had never heard of that before and was so cool to see! The pond that you live on is awesome or is it a lake. It looks huge! Is the dam that you fish at close to your house also? Is that why your pond is now more of a lake? I ask that because I see the full size trees that are growing out of it, which makes me think that it is an area that has been changed due to a dam. That would be awesome to just walk out the back door and walk down to your own dock whenever you wanted. Very cool! Thanks for all of the great content! Yes to all of your video ideas too except the competition videos where the lower has to eat a caterpillars or a nasty 🐟 ! It is funny for about a sec, but that is where it ends! I feel for you both, but especially Jessica for eating that caterpillar twice. We have those trees also and those are great for fishing in Indiana. Do you know if they turn into a moth or a butterfly of some kind? Take care you both and see you on the next video!
@@COLE_and_JAY please make a video of how you start the seeds. Do you winter-sow or do you use grow lights. Please share how. Would love to learn. This would really help me with my butterfly garden that I’m starting this year. Any advice would be appreciated. Seems like starting seeds is the way to go. Thanks in advance
I love the sunflowers ...
I love your upbeat videos !!!
You both seemed to be really relaxed and calm in this video. We used to have a 22' x 42' garden, and even though it was alot of work, it had a calming effect on us. Im assuming thats where yours is coming from. We love everything about nature and love being in it. Thank you for inviting us into your flower sanctuaries and showing us around, Gods creations are just so beautiful to us. God Bless, Rex and Reatha
Thank you! And yes, there is a very calming effect of being in the garden. It’s very therapeutic. We will be keeping y’all posted throughout the garden season!
Awesome flower garden
That's one beautiful garden
Hah! You guys always doin the same type of stuff Im into. I love it 😄 Snakes. Fishing. Butterflys. I dont have a garden video yet but my butterfly garden is 3 yrs old. Dug up milkweed roots from a ditch, they grew the very next spring. Have a bunch of coneflowers, butterfly bush, salvia, butterfly weed, swamp milkweed, tons of crap. Had like 15 swallowtail eggs that grew into caterpillars this spring, have a few monarchs growing now.
Ps. You both should come to snake road in october if u never been there !!! Gps la rue pine hills 🐍
I SAY IRREGARDLESS TOO!!!! All the time! 😂😂😂 I just got to the point of who cares what people think! Hahaha
Your Gardens are Nature 's Rainbow of Colors ❗
Your Gardens re Beautiful and so are

Very beautiful garden
This is a side of y'all I have recently become acquainted with.
I YIKES IT.
Just watched your video. Excellent tour. Love the varieties of flowers, some of which I hadn't heard of and the ordered seeds. Keep sharing butterfly garden updates!
Very beautiful garden....back in the mid 80's an elderly gentleman that grew really nice and tasty tomatoes taught me to take about 1/2 cup of Epsom salt and work it into the soil around a tomato plant. It improves the flavor and size of the tomato. If you put too much nitrogen on tomato plants...you will have huge plants and not much "fruit".
Excellent video Cole and Jay, the flowers are stunning! Always look forward to your videos!!!
Nice garden. Keep up the good work.
Nice work beautiful garden
