Hey Ottawa. U have been watching you for a while now, really like your content. I would like to see you uniting all the Slavs with Serbia in 867 start date. For it was very fun game, hope it will be for you. See ya!
They say when you make a holy order you should give them a city in a territory you recently conquered because when they lease a holding you don't get any tax from it
I was wondering about holy orders, since you didn't seem to be really paying much attention to what cities they were taking over. I try not to ever allow holy orders to hold baronies or cities in my own counties because they don't upgrade them, missing out on development growth from cities for example. Is this something that I'm just overobsessing about? Also is there a modifier I'm missing which makes it worth trying to just hold a contained area of land? I try to hold nothing but good counties (fx anything with a holy site, super temples are absurdly powerful) and I'll just soak the minus opinion from the duke of whatever duchy I'm holding one county in. Is this something I shouldn't be doing?
I too dont grant them just any city they ask for, specially the ones in the counties I myself hold. I usually give them cities in shitty counties and if they ask for more I only accept if they're asking for cities located in counties I don't really care about. About the second thing you mentioned, yes. it's better to grant away entire duchies (or if you are okay with constant infighting between your vassals grant counties belonging, de jure, to a duke to someone else) to their rightful owner/duke. It's not really worth it to have people hate you for some modifiers which you can pretty much make up for in the mid/long term by developing your demesne and picking good dynasty legacies. What you wanna do with those good duchies/counties though is give them to family members or to your heir. That way you can have them earn lifestyle experience from early on and have them get other bonuses. hope what I said made some sense to you!
@@aaronburgoin8322 this mostly makes sense, thanks, but I'm not convinced by the developing demesne argument. For example Goslar/Göttingen, its on of the best single holdings in the game because of its gold mine but the rest of the duchy is shit. Even at level 2 castle that single holding can generate around 18-20 gold per month and a thousand or more levy. Meanwhile a fully upgraded castle level 2 im cleves generates less than half that. Surely that is worth a - 25 opinion to some random duke I don't care about? Especially in the early game when this can be a sizeable chunk of your bottom line
@@johannsigursson5319 Hmm I think I misunderstood you, sorry about that. In the specific case you're mentioning, yes, holding that specific county is completely fine and totally worth the opinion malus. What I meant is that it's not a good idea to go over your demesne limit for the sake of keeping all the good counties you come across, because that would end up giving you huge opinion maluses on ALL your vassals (besides having the opinion malus with a specific vassal for having a county rightfully belonging to them) and heavy levy/gold income penalties. So yeah, you're pretty much correct and all fine doing what you're doing! Just be weary of successions and factions which are most likely to form if you anger powerful vassals
@@aaronburgoin8322 @Aarón Burgoin aah okay then your reply makes a lot of sense. Yeah I tend to put a lot of effort into managing the succession, including a lot of celibacy and disinheriting but generally speaking I try to never be over the demense limit because yeah its just a wall of bad things. Thanks for the replies and the convo :)
@@johannsigursson5319 That's great! You're all good then : ) And you're most welcomed, thanks for replying too! Nice to talk to others even if it's through a UA-cam comments section :)

Finally a video that's not all about being tall :D
You're all good then : )
And you're most welcomed, thanks for replying too! Nice to talk to others even if it's through a UA-cam comments section :)
