Great tutorial! I have been doing simple characters for awhile but you gave me a ton of solutions for common problems i encounter with topology and design! We need a full pipeline and rigging course, School of Motion ;)
There's no "clamp points on axis" and "delete points on axis" options in the latest verion of C4D... how can I merge the polygons in the center of symmetry while insetting them? Could you please help me with this?
This tutorial would be even more helpful if it was several hours, broken down into a couple parts. I would love to see a detailed tutorial on how you created this model, sculpt, texture etc. vs. just a brief overview.
Thank you for your feedback Vanessa! This was my very first tutorial and I'm still learning how to share my process. So hopefully I will be able to share more detailed tutorials, processes of my work in 2023:)
This is the standard layout in the newer versions of C4D for bodypaint - as for the custom buttons on the right, you can manually add those in by going to Window > Customization > Customize Palettes and searching for the buttons you want to add and dragging and dropping them into the UI. Here's a great tutorial covering the process by Winbush! ua-cam.com/video/ThuxPtHTz-M/v-deo.html
Oh hey! sorry, I forgot to mention if you are asking about that yellow-green button, this is the plugin I use for UV unwrapping which is called FD UV toolkit by Flavio Diniz! flaviodiniz.gumroad.com/l/jFoAv It's a paid plugin but really handy, I 100% recommend it!
With this level of character animation, I would say 2-4 weeks to complete (This was the project for making tutorial so I took wayy longer than that..)!
Sorry for delayed reply! I modelled the cloths with C4D and added the detailes with Zbrush like any other objects. I'd love to try marvelous but I haven't yet.
Hi, How did you add the outfit? I have a character ive taken from Mixamo and would like to change its outfit, do you know how id go about doing that? Thanks :))
I modelled the clothes like any other objects in C4D and added details with Zbrush. I think you can do the same thing using Mixamo, you can use model, and model the clothes (T pose), and then you can upload them to Mixamo and rigg/animate it altogether.
I can agree with other people more in depth would be helpful, for example how did the shape get rounded edges when she uses the inner extrude tools for the eyes? mine stay as a straight corner and dont bend like hers unfortunately I cant find the answer how to do that
Thank you for your feedback! This was the first time for me to make any tutorial, so I hope I will get better! About eyes, I put the model in the Subdivision surface to keep the smoothness, and then after inner extrude, I used the smooth brush from sculpting tool to smooth the edge. I hope this will help!
@@_marinanimation_ Hey Marina, the tutorial is great. Thank you for your answer, this helped! :) Keep up the great work. (I just ment a longer tutorial would be great, your work is awesome 👍)
Well I just realized after watching this, I have no business even downloading this program. Im an expert level musician/composer, and i had all these ideas of creating my own animations and characters for kids and then put my own music to them. I will never be able to just learn something like this from scratch. Not to the level where I can make characters that aren’t just crappy stick figures. I downloaded C4D and was trying to import objects to animate using cappuccino, with some music I had selected, and I couldn’t even figure out how to import all 4 material files properly, then i couldn’t figure out how to activate records scaling or rotation after I recorded 64 measures of random object movement. This isn’t something you can just learn based on looking for the answer to a current function I want to do. Ok well I’m super depressed now. But great video anyway
ZBrush can take a bit get a handle on, but once you understand the interface it becomes second nature. "Simple" here means we aren't creating a photorealistic character, but these same techniques build a foundation for that kind of project. You can do it!
Nice "school of motion" take high profit on education. You are not even dear to teach people how use Blender 3D for simple staff like this. All about money lol I will need star youtube channel Blender for all.... Blender i so good and free so basically you dont need Adobe AE or any 3D expensive tool like Cinema 4D
Thanks Marina!!! I learned so much from this tutorial, gotta add Substance and ZBrush to my list of apps to learn!
Thank YOU!!!!
I went to art school and learned how to 3D Model, and you just cleared up a huge portion of issues I've always had with polyflow. Well done!
Marina! It's so awesome to see you on a SOM tut! And such an awesome tut too! I can't wait to dig into this!
been looking for a video like this for years! more from marina, please
So happy you enjoyed!

Ok, that's amazing but I really want to know what are those buttons you have when UVW unwrapping and where to get that layout, it looks great.

@@eyedesyn Great of yours too.. Your tutorial are the best for character animation.
I wish you had at least done one UV map to show your process. I still can't figure out UVs in C4D.
I wish she will do anothter tutorial but explain the render process!!!
Great suggestion!
A great quick tutorial. Is there somewhere else where this tutorial is in a more complete format? Rigging included? Thank you.

i saw a link below, do u have c4d file of the character in the link as well ?
you the best
Wow!
thanks for this tutorial! i was wondering for the cloths, did you just model them in c4d or did you use an external thing like marvelous designer?
Sorry for delayed reply! I modelled the cloths with C4D and added the detailes with Zbrush like any other objects. I'd love to try marvelous but I haven't yet.
merci
Nice work, thx for the share 😊 I’m just asking myself if it’s possible to make the texturing with Procreate. Don’t you think so !?
You can totally texture similarly in Procreate - although Procreate doesn't have the amount of functionality as Substance!
Has anyone here taken the C4D bootcamp? I'm thinking about it.
If you have any questions about it please dont hesitate to reach out to support@schoolofmotion.com

Hi please can you send link to download Cinema 4D
I can't draw Is there any other way to do it with out a sketch?
Somebody, is it Cinema 4D from Maxon?
yes. cinema 4D R26 for the model. zbrush for the model detailing and adobe substance for the texturing

cant find the files to download to follow through tutorial from the link its blank

Why use blunder when you can use light wave. Cause while we are at it let's make fire by rubbing sticks.
