I had to learn this as a total beginner, no choice unless I wanted to wait for the solar system to align and world peace was attained. No local kitesurf instructors let alone other kiters. Start with a small kite if you have to learn to do this...or a lighter wind if you only have a larger kite. Main thing is to never panic and go yanking the bar toward you. Good comments by the others re the two leashes..one on the post/anchor at all times..the other on you. Get the lines set up, go hook up..check the bar is clear and not tangled...make sure the bar stopper is all the way out! when you sit the kite on its wingtip, lines all tensioned upmake sure the lines arent twisted around. Check and double check. Its not hard to learn.
dimitri is an amazing kiteboarder with skills and experience most of us can only dream of. he can make anything look easy. but he does mention that these techniques can be dangerous, therefore it is recommended that if you are using the thethering method, the kite should be secured to the anchor while still fully attached in the chicken loop. that way, when removing it, it is still secured, and you are not just holding it in your hand, should anything happen, like a powerful gust, that can potentially have you chasing your entire kite rig down the beach. thanks for another great video, dimitri
I believe the lines were looped around - both bridles /central line/ - front and red and right - back at launch, since he earlier attached the bar for downwind setup launch and than brought the bar in upwind launch setup position /in relation to the wind window edges and wind directions/ in the first take on. It was a bit more like for an experienced kiters, as he latter unwinded the lines with several right rotations of the bar to get the correct /right/ line in launching position. The dynamics was excellent though and a lot learned. Thanks!
God has said in the Quran: { O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous - ( 2:21 ) [He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]. ( 2:22 ) And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful. ( 2:23 ) But if you do not - and you will never be able to - then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.( 2:24 ) And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. ( 2:25 ) Quran
Hi using the fix posted for landing and lauching is really for the experts. I would recomend leaving a spare leash on the post you use for launching and just swapping the harnes lease when you fit the chicken loop. The same for landing connect the spare leash first to the chicken loop, before unclipping your harness leash. You will have no chance of holding the kite if there is a gust of wind whist you connect or discoccnect the chicken loop. its a bit more of a fiddle but you don’t risk loosing the kite if things go wrong due to gust of wind.
Hello Chris. Actually this way of landing or launching a kite is for any one. But any one needs to be carefull about it. I actually got an email from a beginner few hours ago telling me that he saw one of my previous video on the RENEGADE kite where I am showing how to launch the kite using a pole on the beach, and since then he has been doing that type of launhing and landing. So he emailed me to tell me how usefull this new video was.
Well that is a good question Reaper bp. You have a lot of good kite companies out there. But what makes a kite company be the best is: The QUALITY, the PERFORMANCE, the GRAPHICS and the CUSTOMER SERVICE. This is the reason why I started my own kite company EPICKITES.COM so I can provide all these things.
If the wind is strong I would always have something connected to the kite at all times - or it might fly if there is a gust of wind. If your leash has a carabin at both ends, you can tie it around something while you are hooked in. Or you can use a second leash.
Hey, nice video really easy to follow! Do you have any tips on launching a kite in lightwind conditions at a lake covered with trees and with no beach and very little space to setup? Could you maybe do a video on deepwaterlaunching in "bad conditions" or something like that? Keep up the great work!
Hello Denniz122. Yes I do. Check our web site: www.epickites.com and go under VIDEO>HOW TO. You will see a video on HOW TO LAUNCH & LAND IN THE WATER. The concept is the same.
For sure easier and safer if you put a second leash or rope around the anchor. Then you just swap on to the kite as if you were swapping kites in a lesson i.e. you can leash to the leash point on the kite as usual, then you hook in to the chicken loop, take the tension on the chicken loop, and then detach the second leash that is around the post.
Hey, you posted a few years ago a „how to fold a kite in windy conditions tutorial“ performed by you son?! Would you be so kind to post it again please?!
Thanks for the great video, was looking for better instructions on self launch / landing. On the drift launch, will kites all pop up on their sides like that?
Check all our EPIC videos under www.epickites.com. Go to VIDEO then click on HOW TO and you will see tons of videos on how to do things. I will say that 75%of the kites will pop up on their side like that but only 30% will stay up.

DIMITRI MARAMENIDES Dimitri what kitesurf brand do you think is the best?

Do you have another video explaining a drift launch in the water? Probably better for flat water than the waves you've got in this video

Hi5
Hey, you posted a few years ago a „how to fold a kite in windy conditions tutorial“ performed by you son?! Would you be so kind to post it again please?!
That was a long time ago. Best thing to do will be to check the HOW TO videos on the EPICKITES web site: www.epickiteskiteboarding.com/videos/how-to/
Thanks for the great video, was looking for better instructions on self launch / landing. On the drift launch, will kites all pop up on their sides like that?

Can you make a video on how to self launch a kite in a lake when you have no shore to launch it?
where is it??
With that drift launch there were a board and bag in the way. Those tend to get tangled in your lines which can lead to trouble. Nice vid otherwise!
