Thank you David for another fantastic video! This one I was pretty familiar with but I know those new to the CTX1300 will appreciate this very much!

Thanks, that's good of you to say so.
I used to be a technical instructor in telecomms but when I think of the weeks of preparation I'd do to prepare a course and with these I just stick the camera up and waffle away! HAHAHAHAHAHA

      Thanks you Renegade you HAHAHAHAHA
You may have gathered I don't have the CTX now, just getting older, and not as strong but I never was a Schwarzenegger! I had planned to do more videos of the CTX but it just got too heavy for me to push around, kept dropping it. Luckily I had the rear, pannier guard, bars from Charlie. They are brilliant, and definitely worth the money even with shipping from the States. Couldn't find anyone local to make them.

Glad it helped, too late for my bike as the previous owner had already snapped the bracket off! HAHAHAHAHAHA

Hey Dave, this video is very helpful. I have a broken tab on my bike. Wondering what kind of bracket is used to connect the two plastic parts? This seems like a solid work around. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks Dave; very helpful vid. Now... what can we do for the dreadful shocks & front forks?

Thanks Dave, glad the video helped a bit.
As for the front shocks and the broken wrists! HAHAHAHAHA
I found that just riding with the wrists and hands very relaxed helped to smooth out those shocking bumps. Still got it sometimes of course but I just got used to the relaxed riding. Nice thing about the CTX is that it is a very easy bike to ride despite it's size and weight so you don't need to keep a firm grip on the handlebars anyway.
Unlike the bike I have now, Harley Davidson XL1200T Sportster Superlow. Suspension is fine but you do have to ride it whereas the CTX glides itself around the bends. Must admit I'm enjoying it though, more that I thought I would have done after the CTX. My ONLY problem with the CTX was the standing still weight so when I tried to move it around by hand I kept dropping it (despite me publising a video advising people how to move it around by hand!!). One result of that was that I became quite expert at picking it up by myself, should have made a video of that before I changed to the Harley! HAHAHAHAHAHA

Thanks Dave; I'm leary of breaking the tabs while removing the CTX bodywork and your vid was helpful. Enjoy the Sportster (we like our Harleys too; currently own both a Dyna Wide Glide & a Street Glide); there's nothing like a 45 degree V-twin chugging down a country road.

You're getting quite proficient with this bike! Eventually you'll be ready to tackle the air cleaner. Just be sure to keep your camera battery charged up for that as it takes forever...

Thanks Barry, I've just adjusted the brake light too!! I had to almost stand on the rear brake pedal to get the light to illuminate. Looking into stuff like this it's turning out to be fairly simple.
Thanks for the tip on the Air Cleaner, I'll leave that one for another day I think HAHAHAHAHA

For all the engineering marvels that Honda demonstrates for making quality engines and transmissions, their attention to ease of maintenance for the battery and air filters on this CTX 1300 makes me think they were only concerned with quick assembly at the plant. What a pain in the asx much of this work is on the CTX. They went into production too soon before making it user friendly.

Agree Kevin, for such a fabulous bike in many other ways the fairing and attachments are quite flimsy.
It's quite easy to get at the stuff but the tabs break and mine had a work around with a metal plate and two screws, on both sides this had been done.
Loved riding it but I've changed to a Harley XL1200T Sportster, the CTX1300 was just too heavy for me to push around, took me two years to realise it though!
They did go into production with a bit of a lash up, only produced them for one year as a trial bike for the new Goldwings coming in 2018.
      Thanks for commenting.

Man that doesn't look like enough room to remove the battery, guess I'll find out tonight

Good luck, it is a bit of a wiggly job! Let me know how you get on.
I don't have the CTX now, it just got too heavy for me to push around and, after testing a number of bikes, I finished up with a Harley XL1200T Sportster. It's 100Kg lighter, only 100cc less engine size but a lot smaller and easier to move around. I do miss the CTX for riding though.

@@007djrose done! Seems the last owner just used cork stoppers in the holes instead of replacing the clips 😆 so I'm looking on Amazon now
