So many times I feel like giving up on fighting games, but then I see you post a video like this and I'm just like: "Know what? Imma keep at it. Javi didn't get this good by giving up."
Editor for this one here! Gonna drop the list of songs used in the video, but first I wanna say this is more than just a story, it's a journey years in the making; One that means so much to Javi (and going through the comments a lot of you all as well), and I just wanna thank Javi for trusting me of all people to work on it to present for you all. He's more than just a skilled gamer and a funny personality, he's genuinely one of the coolest people you can interact with. 0:00 - Opoona - The Village Without Memories (Fonthene) 5:12 - Virtual Sonic - City in the Clouds 7:30 - Paper Mario: The Origami King - Cafe 12:52 - Fire Emblem Engage - Good Company in Brodia Bit where Javi pops off at Marvel @ EVO 2023 - Deltarune: Attack of the Mr. Beast Gohan by Ben Briggs
Listening to how passionate you are about fighting games is incredible stuff man. 5 years ago I bought my first real fighting game because of watching people like you and Maximillian Dood; Dragon Ball FighterZ. Since then I've been following every game I can, picking up old ones (UMVC3 Phoenix Wright is sick ;)) and just watching content all the time! You and your friends are such a glowing group of positivity and I really want to find more like minded people to play these games with. Thank you for everything you do Javi, and congrats again on your performance!! Much love
it was so wonderful meeting you at evo, javi! you were absolutely awesome and i'm so happy that so many people got to experience your matches! best phoenix wright ever! 🙌🏻
You are the main reason why I wanna get to evo someday. Hell, one of the reasons I got into the fg genre. I'm 16 and for the predictable future, I will watch you and you will inspire me to practice the craft
Dude, you made Marvel fun again to me. Ever since I first saw your team I went nuts and I just couldn't have enogh. Years later I see you with Gary and Lee and you simply make my life more fun. Even my son, who doesn't like fighting games loves watching theShenanigoons. You're just wholesome man. Thak you for years and years of hype and fun
OMG AHHHH that's so wonderful to read!!! I appreciate that so much thank you for sharing and hope you and your little one continue to enjoy the content!
This is the FGC. This is why I keep coming back to your channel to watch everything you do. Im always will be greatful to be able to see your amazing Journey and its always a humbling moment to see you grow Forever with respect.
I may not be the best at fighting games but you, Gary, and Lee all inspire me to play and hone myself. If not just to improve myself but so I can play with others who are also having fun while improving themselves.
Javi you're a legend and so is Gary and Lee you guys inspired me to get DBFZ and UMV3 I love your guys content and I thank you for the laughs i got and for UMV3 I'm gonna learn it and have fun thank you
I love the fight at 9:45 cause its Doctor Strange against both of his biggest villains, it was like watching a canon battle between them. XD You really make me want to dive back into the scene and experience it all again, cause the passion and joy of these stories, the threads, the videos, everything you do in the scene really shows.
those are such kind words fam ty =;) it really does bring the best out of me to be at an FGC event and I believe that the same is possible for everyone!
When watching this video it gives me more passion and my fighting spirit has grown from seeing you compete and giving it your all. I was big into this game growing up and picking it back up and taking it more seriously and even competing in some locals and some online tourneys in some small servers I find just to practice against people who have the same passion and honestly when I lose I feel nothing but a happy feeling that I learnt different things and honestly im hungry for more. You, Lythero and Zyzx have single handily gave me a passion of this game and one that won't go out until I make it to.a major like this. And I hope one day that we play against each other in any setting let it be somehow a match online or if they keep it alive maybe at EVO. Much love to you and this community for helping me and continue to grow.
that's what's up fam I couldn't be more grateful to read this! Please keep nurturing that competitive spirit can't wait to hear more about your growth!
I wish I could go to EVO… The people there seem so friendly, and the matches are so hype, with the crowd cheering in the background. Every year I secretly watch EVO during school time, and I pull all-nighters watching EVO on weekdays since I live on the other end of the world. I hope I can convince my parents to let me go for 2024.
Meeting you at evo was so nice and fun. I’ve been watching your matches for years. Love seeing your content. Between watching marvel Mondays and wanting to be better at marvel. You kept me going with my team of PW, Cap A, and Dante. Believing that anything can happen. I haven’t given up. Only made progress and hope to be like you one day
Loved this video. Ive been a stream monster since vanilla SF4, been playing VS games since MvC1, and you are my favorite player watch in UMvC3 hands down. Always look forward to catching you on stream. The energy of EVO is just something else and you captured it beautifully with how much passion and heart you have. I hope one day i can experience it in person. Until then, i will be rooting for you always in the chat. 👍
oh man I really hope you get to experience one day! it's truly a feeling I can't even put into one video, thank you so much for watching and for your kind words!
I recently entered a streamed 3rd Strike tournament (nothing big like EVO but still) and I made to grand finals! The adrenaline and fun I had was beyond hype, so I 100% agree with your sentiment, it's truly something else. As an avid Lythero watcher, I honestly don't know why it took me this long to watch your channel, but as a fellow Pheonix Wright main and FGC resident, you have my overdue sub. Godspeed Javi and keep that positivity flowing, you're an inspiration fr
man what a tale! SUPER hype for you to get to grand finals, that's something some people never achieve! Thank you for the kind words and hope you enjoy the content =D
I'm glad you had a good time at EVO. Marvel 3 was super great to watch this year. Wish I could have seen more of your matches on stream but can't be helped sometimes.
This one might be a bit of a book, but sentiment like this makes me full of the urge to wax poetic, so definite tl;dr here. With that being said, this video did something for me that EVO couldnt this year. My best friend and I, talking like 6th grade ancient, have made it a habit since 2017 to always attend EVO. We enjoy playing fighting games of all sorts together, from KI to Marvel, and this was only made better with participation in EVO. We competed in DBFZ three years in a row, and even though we were 0-2 in the first match every year because of nerves, we still had an incredible time meeting people and bonding in the space and hype. I can literally find myself in the footage of previous top 8s in the front of the crowd, and little more has brought me such immense pride. Meeting amazing people like Maximillian Dood, Yipes, Tasty Steve really made my position in the FGC seem solidified, and having a best friend there next to me making it all feel real at home too, had me on an amazing rush. But I didnt go to EVO this year. I made the decision to miss out because our experience last year was mired in personal drama with our normal +1 =for the event, and it resulted in nothing but trauma and anger and fear plaguing our experience. I was even immortalized in the footage of DBFZ last year, being the only person in the crowd that missed the Cell Scream that year. Im recorded in the front rows on my phone, handling this inane drama that resulted in the end of a 10 year friendship during the moment of EVO I literally went for. I couldnt handle that, and neither could my best friend, so we made the executive decision to skip on EVO this year not only to save money, but to help us feel better. I couldnt really share this with my best friend, because I didnt feel that the burden of handling my hang ups was worthy of bringing to him, since he might have some of his own. But damn, do I really regret not going to EVO this year, especially knowing that all of the Shenanigoons were there this year with Marvel as well. Being a Vegas Boy myself, I was very eager to make myself known to the scenes big players this year. Ive carried the regret of that missed opportunity like a Sisyphean stone, barely able to move it up an inch before it crushed me once more, as it always did. But after watching this, I dont think I feel that way anymore. I want to come back with my head held high, and not be mired by sadness or anxiety when EVO comes next year. Thank you for sharing your experience with EVO this year Javi. I havent watched any of the tournament footage this year because ive been afraid of confronting these feelings. Watching your story of love and camraderie that you have for both Marvel and the FGC in general has inspired me greatly. Im gonna go watch the Marvel footage now, because I havent yet, and I dont think I should rob myself anymore. I love every last one of the people in the FGC, and i look forward to eagerly meeting You and Gary, (and possibly Lee) at next years event. Along with any of you amazing people who have decided to read all of my gushing. See you next year. -Kuma
just want ya to know I did read this and it was pretty spectacular to read. I hope you make it back to Evo and it's the best experience you've ever had. You and your friend deserve it!
I went to CEO 2023 and man it was fun. I entered for Melee and MK11 and got obliterated but that's okay. I never really felt the culture of the FGC until I went and tbh it made me hungry for more. I got home and immediately purchased SF6 since I enjoyed it so much at the tournament. I now go to locals fairly consistently and have been enjoying the competition. I do get in my own head but I'm starting to develop a better mindset. Appreciate the House of Justice and all you do man.
@IHeartJustice me too! I had to double check to make sure pupusas weren't a staple of another country and i was getting it wrong, but it does include neighboring Honduras. Loved your evo run! Me, my girlfriend, and friend tracked you in bracket. It's epic to see your side your perspective!
If someone who wasn't as popular as IHeartJustice said the stuff at the end about being okay with losing and how he had an emotional response to losing, we would fucking decimate him. We'd drown him in a sea of "cope"s and "git gud"s. Yet, because he's reached the status of untouchable, he's praised for being imperfect. The FGC is in a middle ground of losing its nerve and still having the balls to hunt the weak, and it's just the right mix to be as much of a pain in the ass as possible.
showing emotion has never been weak but it's stigma that the FGC has to learn to grow past. I think we can do it and I have no issue being the change I want to see in the world!
@@IHeartJustice Here's the thing; if you're not going to be defending anyone who commits the "sins" of being imperfect and having emotions from the rest of the FGC, then with all due respect I'm going to have to ask you to spare me the platitudes. Again, you're immune to criticism,* and passion is a positive when you're branded with it because you're popular. If you're not defending those who aren't popular, then you're not changing a thing. EDIT: Forgot a comma.
