Welcome back!! I read Seveneves years ago and, honestly, it felt like the second part of the book was written by another person. It was really interesting following all the different characters and the ways they came up with to survive, but as the story progressed I found myself wanting it to be over already. I hope that will not be the case with you!

It's time you pick up the Wheel of Time series Emily! The show is coming soon, with an awesome cast and everyone from the fandom is really hyped.
It's 14 book long epic fantasy series, the last three finished by Brandon Sanderson, and it's worth every single page. Quite possibly one of the best series ever written.

I was a bit busy with my life recently and many people take brakes during summer to rest so I have barely noticed that you were gone for some time and then I was watching your video and I honestly haven't noticed that anything was different until you mentioned the surgery. I got so worried then! I went to your beauty acc and watched the whole story there. But just so you know that talking problems aren't even noticeable. Good luck with your recovery!
Also wow! It never stops being amazing the number of book you read! Honestly goals! xD

I just finished Tower of Dawn, the 6th book in the Throne of Glass series, yesterday. Almost done with the series! I liked the first but didn't really like the second. But continued because everybody said it picked up after the third. I'm still not liking them more then okay. Since I already owned all of them I decided to read them all. But every time I pick one up I feel that it's a little bit of a waste of reading time.

Just got like, halfway into Heir of fire. It's not Nevernight level (lmao will anything ever be?) but it's definitely better than the other previous book. I'm pretty sure I will continue this series.

Emily, I need help! I've been invited to a book club with the women at my gym and I'm so excited to have real life book friends, BUT they read contemporary and adult fiction, and I read pretty much only Fantasy. Can you recommend me some books that would be enjoyable for them and me? I'd like to recommend something to the group that could bridge our interests, something not intimidating but with a little magical or fantastical elements to give them a taste and see if it's something we could dive more into! Please help me :) Thanks!

I think ASoIaF is the perfect blend because it is complex, realistic and it's a fantasy series! Your new friends may not realize what it's like, and may not want to read it, I know... :(
My friends are like that and I'm frustrated because I can't discuss it with them. One of my friends, however, has recently decided to give it a try and she's already addicted to it. She's about to finish Volume 3. But she's the only one whom I've managed to convince.
Joe Abercrombie's First Law series is also pretty realistic and one can't tell what period it's supposed to be in. It's like... all historical periods in one. :p If I find something contemporary with a twist, I'll let you know.

Have you read The Ice Queen, by Alice Hoffman? Or something by John Irving? A Son of the Circus, A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Cider House Rules or The Hotel New Hampshire? Would those ladies like some magical realism, such as in the works of Isabel Allende and Gabriel Garcia Marquez? Can you give me some examples of books they seem to prefer?

Oh! Yes! An idea! The Green Mile, by Stephen King! There is magic in it... That book is amazing. You'll have to steel yourself - because certain events are truly horrible, which is to be expected from Stephen King, yet there's also such beauty in that book that it might make you cry...

My September tbr will definitely include My year of rest and relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh, I have seen this book floating around for a while and I want to know if it is a good-but-harsh critique of the modern society or if it is the last installment of the Unlikeable Female Protagonist - The Series, like Cat Person happened to be (in my opinion).
