    This is no shade to Cardi (because I like her music) but I’d say her impact on rap was more negative than positive. I feel like she opened the doors for women who are not passionate for rap to come in and start making music. They saw how it worked for her and in turn tried to start a career themselves. They saw this girl from love and hip hope and realized that rap was an easy cash grab. Cardi B has openly said if she weren’t making money she would not be making music, so anytime someone says Cardi had an impact on music I just kinda laugh because she, in my opinion, kickstarted the lazy rap girl persona 😭

      isnt that a label problem than a cardi problem? If she inspires other people, great! but that doesnt mean she's the blame for other labels trying to mimic her success

      no, this is a perspective u can have yes but cardi simply showed labels the potential money in pushing female rappers again. who they chose to push is on them. if they used cardi as their standard that’s on them. she opened the door for all the girls in the current age to get major label deals and support, now labels have the new girls doing everything to get a smash hit song like cardi did before they can even release a album. that’s why it’s burn away single after single, that’s all labels care about not the content of the music. that isn’t a cardi problem, it’s a industry problem. it’s just easy to pin it on her if u look at this small niche group, that make up an entire industry. keep in mind these girls are also competing with male rappers, popstars and rnb singers for label backing not just their peers.

      @@kironlasi4116 I don’t think you fully understand what I’m saying. I agree that Cardi allowed new rap girls to come in. However, Cardi B lacks the drive and work ethic in her music like the video says. We get a lot more female rappers who are coming in with the same mindset of not needing to be fully committed to music but choosing to do it for the money. You guys can keep saying it’s the labels fault but that doesn’t change anything I said, nor does that not make Cardi the image of lazy rap girls

      @@alegobatmanfan cardi isn’t lazy tho, just because she isn’t putting out music consistently makes her lazy she literally has multiple lucrative business deals. the other girls not so much. let’s not negate the fact that labels hold this girls/artist to the standard of “no hit no project”. so when y’all don’t care to listen but criticize, then they flop again and again with no album in sight. who should be the blame? they would stop following that formula if ppl actually cared to support and not just criticize. look at normani chloe bailey etc. Ppl begged for albums and wrote essays about their talent, then when it came nobody listened but wrote essays on how it flopped and they should be bigger. ppl rather watch u fail then be the only one helping u succeed. It’s pact mentality making everyone music analysts. JUST SUPPORT WHO YOU LIKE! would u care if saweetie or cardi dropped a album? did u listen to latto JT or ice spice? or r u more concerned with their numbers which will determine which project u think is of quality without ever pressing play or purchase.

    These labels invest in making female rap marketable instead of investing in their talent
    They need to stop signing viral people and go back to actually signing talented people
    Nicki Minaj was ushered into the game because she was known for getting on other people's track and killing her verse. My Chick Bad; Hello Good Morning; Little Freak; 5 Star Chick;
    Nicki's talent was pushed first. Now the industry just pushing virality which opens the space for these "hit a lick" girls that's just in it for the money

      I feel like they think investing in talent isn’t worth the financial toll. It doesn’t give as quick or as much returns. People aren’t mass watching talent. It’s more financially sound to recruit an already popular influencer and build on that career through the next level of their looks and aesthetics

I know there are many different male rappers and many with hearts in rap. The same goes for female rap. The issue is that most of the public won't listen to women who aren't hot or twerking. Let’s stop acting like Nicki is anything special special. She got her foot in the door by doing Pop music. Her first two albums, whether she’s rapping or not, are pop albums. Rap music is not respected or as light by the general public like her pop music was, and you can see it in the way that the music has performed and the way that people outside of her fanbase don’t flock flock when she releases. Without her dedicated cult like fan base of freaks who go to different stores with different credit cards and buy out the entire physical stock or buy different devices and pay for different accounts on different credit cards to stream her releases she wouldn’t even be in the conversation anymore. And we need to stop acting like she also hasn’t used ghostwriters because as someone who was one of her biggest fans until she started associating with rapists, you can see the quality in the song writing change from pink Friday and Roman reloaded to the pink print and Queen and pf 2. Plus Latto called her out for using the same writers as all the other women and right after she did that coincidentally all the reference tracks Latto did for artists like Bia and Coi Leray just happened to leak

Like imo the current best are Azealia Banks, Nicki Minaj. But AB isn’t pushed. Also there are a lot of super talented underground girls like Tkay Maidza. The problem is that the mainstreams music like Ice Spicey Fart and Vulgar Red is total garbage. Like why is the bar so low?? For female rappers the music is the ‘loss leader’ to get them to the REAL money: the brand deals.
    The music may not sell like that, but all they have to do is get a hit or two each year or so and they can they leverage their “influence”as recording artists to secure 6-figure, 7-figure, and eventually 8-figure brand deals. THAT’s what pays the bills and recoups them at their labels, not the music. Without a doubt, so much money went into Cardi B (the music videos, the business deals, the controversial Grammy award-winning, etc), and when you build up somebody who doesn't have the passion to do music and see it as a lick to earn quick cash, you start to see the result of it. Thats why she’s broke now and have to do all these endorsements deals and festivals to pay back her record label.. that’s why she’s really on Tasha K aih for that $4 mil. Cardi has never been on a world tour cuz it won’t sell. That’s why she purposely gets pregnant right before it’s time to drop an album or go on tour! She knows it WILL FLOOOOOOPPPPPPP. I think it is unfair to make the broad statement that if an artist puts out two albums with 7 songs each in the span of a few years, then their intent is to hit a lick. Especially as we ease away from the era of every album having at least 6 songs worth of bloat plus a deluxe that nobody asks for, I would really appreciate if an artist dropped a tight, concise body of work where each song is ACTUAL QUALITY. If an artist only makes 7 songs per year then I’m with you regarding that take, but I also really appreciate when an artist takes the time to curate their work, cut all the fat, and leave us with the best of the best songs they’ve made in that time. Sometimes that number is 13-15, and sometimes it’s 7. Kanye reminded us all that 7 songs IS AN ALBUM and KSG is one of his most revered to this day. So I don’t think it’s right to discourage new artists from packaging their bodies of work however they want to and just assuming they have malicious intent.

If you remember her reality tv career she was trying to be an artist then. Cardi wants to do music she is just scared that she won’t hit like she did when she first came out. She’s afraid of failure.
