True, my godfather would not be alive if divorce was banned (his now ex tried to poison him and when that did not work she resorted to a cylindrical shaped solid copper infusion. He survived thankfully.) Had to use different words because the platform does not like the real word. The one thing that irks me about this pick me is that for even the things she gets right, (Which is only a little, the rest is on a sliding scale from grey area to horribly wrong.) she does nothing to actually help men. So sorry for both of your experiences. I hope you’ve been able to see a good counselor who clicks with you. My story is about my biological parents, and it was traumatic there, and yes, there was a divorce but it didn’t last long enough. The only way I got out was through the social services terminating their parental rights and being adopted into a loving family. Though it doesn’t mean I can “know” what it’s like for others who live through the same thing when they are older, I still have all the compassion and empathy my heart can pour out to people who are in the middle of it, or who are just starting recovery. It takes time, be kind to yourself and seek help wherever and whenever you can find it. 💜

I have heard of this being practiced more recently, using 7 year cycles. After that time, the couple sit down and have an honest discussion about the relationship, and mutually decide to go into another 7 years or part ways. I like it as an idea, as it encourages people not to take their partner for granted. Downside, if you have had a wonderful 6 years and then have a tragedy, mental health problems, fall on hard times etc... Some people have very short memories.

My abuser and his father literally drove me to court all the while drilling me that I needed to say that I didn’t want to press charges. I had to say it too. No choice. I know exactly what would have happened if I tried to press charges. It was 2 more years before I could successfully leave. No fault divorce was my only option. @segasister 💯💯 often even if there's no physical abuse it's safe and better to divorce. There's been studies and yelling etc can really mess up a kid. It can make them very quiet and anxious. Which if often enough will lead to constant mental health issues. I had a pretty traumatic childhood and feel like I'm just now processing life when I should have had this experience as a child. Wish I could experience childhood again but in a healthy environment.

Yes!! I am a civilian but I was excited to register to vote on my 18th birthday! I refuse to give up my right to vote because I know how hard the suffragettes had to work to get it, including remembering the English suffragette who threw herself in front of a racehorse and was trampled to death. Just like no one would have known the truth of what happened to *you* without you pushing for it, many real victims never get the truth out without fighting for it. My father will tell you he never SA’d me as a child, but he did. And my ex husband will tell you he never knocked me unconscious and then r-ped me, but he did. I did not report either of them because of my fear of them, so I am not even included in any of the stats. But please don't use your one experience to undermine the abuse that other people have been through. Just because you've experienced one thing (a thing that's statistically much less likely, even though every case should be considered on its own merit), doesn't mean that other people's experiences of actually being abused in an intimate relationship are not real.

That's weird. In Scotland, you do not need a Phd to be a psychologist.. A degree in psychology and counselling will get you into a psychologist position. However, you need a Phd to be a Psychiatrist because they can prescribe drugs and diagnose psychiatric disorders.

She dumped him then and there, stating he wasn't good enough for a traditional wife..
I'm more than half-way through.. I have a confession. I almost got swallowed up by the red-pill to alt-right pipeline and it had EVERYTHING to do with hating my mom and the way I was raised. Lmao, the red pill retoric personally ruined my mental health😭 I remember first being introduced to it when I was 14. I grew up in a conservative, religious household where even my mom would say things like "Men can't be committed to one woman and need multiple", "the most important thing a woman can do is give birth etc". I've always been rlly feminist and I kind of just brushed off what my mom said. And then red pilled retoric started becoming more popular saying the same sht and I went into a phase of literally despising men (I still kind of do😃). Like, the things they say literally make me never want to b in a relationship w a guy and it has just caused me to build up so much resentment to men in general, it even affects how I view my brothers at times and ESPECIALLY my dad. I have a horrible r/s w him (cuz he's fkn incredibly complicated) and I notice myself projecting that resentment I've built up towards men to men in my life. And women who perpetuate these same ideas. (Eg my mom). I actually fkn hate the red pill and men and pick mes. And I unfortunately grew up amongst some of them.

So I know for a fact that my ancestors owned slaves in America (on my mother’s side). My father is also a man of color. We have some baggage, to say the least. My mother did try to tell me when I was very small that some slave owners treated their slaves nicely (the Washingtons are actually distant relatives of ours, and this is our “family history”, if you can believe it). Even as a child, I thought to myself, “I don’t care if one person was nice. People are not property.” And the older and more educated I became, the more disgusted I grew at the thought that anyone could justify or play devils advocate for slave owners. I am ashamed of my ancestors’ participation in the institution of slavery. I view my shame as an opportunity for growth. The only thing I can personally do is live in amends for that fact. I am so grateful for every opportunity I have to listen to the voices of black communities in America and all over the world. I will always support my brothers and sisters of color, especially in America. Pearl makes me sick. There is nothing more foul or dangerous than a monster who thinks they are right in the eyes of God. I have compassion for her suffering, and I have 0 patience for her bullshit. I really hope that she can learn to forgive herself and stop externalizing her suffering. She is single-handedly setting the white community back 200 years. Some of us are trying to be good neighbors. Some of us give a hoot about human rights. Some of us want to overcome our enculturated biases, bigotry, and judgements. Some of us are doing the work. Eyyyooooooooo I got divorced last year BECAUSE it was what was best for my kids. Yes it was stressful for them for a few months, but their dad and I just didn't work well under the same roof. It was more important to me for my kids to see what a healthy, happy adult relationship looks like than it was to have 2 adults who they share DNA with living under the same roof.
I'm so glad my parents got divorced, and have been since I was 10 (they divorced when I was 2). Because they were seperated they were actually able to be kind and co-parent effectively rather than scream and fight all the time. Our family had its problems sure, and there was a part of me that wanted the traditional family experience I would have so many more issues if they'd stayed together.
I‘m a child of divorce and wouldn‘t want it any other way. My parents were not a good match at ALL. My dad has since remarried and I‘ve gotten the best gift ever out of it: two extra siblings whom I love to death :) Wishing you only the best! :)❤

I’m a dv survivor. I was hit so hard I tasted blood! He threw a brick in my window of my car. Glass was everywhere! Me and my bff called the cops, the cops told us why should we find him or take a statement bio charges, if she’s going to go back to him. Yup! They didn’t do anything! The second time I called they did something at first it was going to be the same thing, but he looked at me and said ok don’t worry, and they help me. It’s hard to get help they don’t want to believe you or do anything.
I do have a 2 bedroom apt that I keep up with a single income. No help from the government and I live in California. It's not always easy but it's doable. That is not me agreeing with the state of the economy tho lol

I think she is very sexist and blames her mother for being pregnant and giving a baby up, but not her dad, because she has a really 50s view of men and women's roles. It's that 50s thinking - women parents get all the blame, men parents get all the credit.
I think she has daddy and mommy issues because she feels like she wasn’t given enough attention growing up. She was one of ten children and her father and mother worked hard to provide their children with a great life/education. I’m sure not all of them got the amount of individual attention that they deserved but that doesn’t excuse her becoming a terror for the rest of the world. There’s a reason therapy exists. Instead of actually working on her low self esteem and feelings of inadequacy, she decided that falling down the red pill rabbit hole would be a much better idea. She has said in a past video the only reason she’s able to watch the kind of content she now creates is because she has such low standards of herself. She clearly doesn’t care about her own self care whether it be mentally or physically. I mean she doesn’t even brush her own hair in most of her videos. She obviously craved outside validation from her peers or the opposite sex, which is normal. However because of her high standards or lack of confidence she didn’t even get that. Sadly I’ve known many girls like pearl. Most of them grow out of these feelings when they mature and leave school. She clearly regressed and stayed bitter. I am a child of parents who tried to stay together for the kid, who tried to stick out their vows. All this did was result in me and my father enduring YEARS of horrific abuse at my mother's hands, ending in her attempt to unalive my dad and me seeing that, then somehow her getting custody of me and taking out her anger on me for the next seven years. My father was in therapy for years and I am still trying to unpack the damage she did, includng normalizing DV to where I ended up in an a-sive marriage. But sure Pearl, sure. Let's have people stay together for the kids.
I've always had the opinion that 1. Her content is motivated by income and provoking people gets the views she wants 2. She thinks her platform will lead her to the high value man, like her father, she wants to be with. I genuinely feel she has deep-rooted mommy issues, jealousy because she had to fight for her attention, because she's not as successful as her mother and. She speaks about marriage and relationships like someone without the experience of relationships and I also think it's deliberate. I don't know, I think she's deeply unhappy and extremely insecure.

I loath that Pearl has a platform I’ve been married for 23 years. Divorce isn’t a thing you believe in or don’t believe in, it’s not faith or tradition, it’s a literal disillusion of a contract. I went into my marriage very clearly saying that if we come to a point that we’re not holding up our end of the terms it’s okay to dissolve the contract.

I have heard a term describing this type of personality: "tofu person." A tofu person sucks up all the personalities around them because they are unable to form their own or unable to come to terms with their own self. It seems fitting in this case.

Probably best way to describe an influencer is that they're like "homemade celebreties." They combine all the charm of the celebrities but mix it up by reaching via social media that makes them feel more personal. Often their charm comes that they feel more ordinary, more familiar than someone who's face you see in papers or billboards.

Ok, just to say where I'm coming from, I am a stay at home mom and was a virgin on my wedding night. I'm exactly what Just Pearly Things seems to think women should be, apparently. And with all that said, I cannot stand her! I chose to do/be these things because it was what was best for me. That doesn't mean it is the only way for women to live. My husband and I have this setup due to my own medical needs (most jobs wouldn't work for me). I have a safety net if anything ever happened between us. I am, quite frankly, privileged to be able to live this way. If I didn't have this safety net, I don't think I'd be comfortable not having an income as well. And I don't understand the vitriol towards other women that chose to work (for practical reasons or just because they wish to). And the idea that women deserve to be cheated on or whatever due to being "unpure"... I just do not understand how much she seems to hate women. 45:05 seriously! Part of why I agreed to go out with my now husband was because he was also waiting for marriage to have sex. He didn't expect me to be a virgin while not being one (the number of guys that wanted to be with me back in college only because I was a virgin was horrifying). And again, to be clear, not saying anything against other choices. But the weird double standard was so frustrating. As a DV and R survivor I can say that most of us stay because we know there's a good chance we'll die if we leave because of partner retribution for leaving. Statistics across the globe still provide evidence that the most dangerous time for any dv survivor is when they attempt to leave...no matter their gender. I'm 57 and utterly floored by this ideology. I am not a feminist...I'm an equalist. Every member of any society no matter their gender orientation, race colour or creed, should have equal human rights upheld and respect. In my country we had a case where a husband had killed his wife, cut her corpse into pieces and then put the pieces into suitcases. And his father helped to cover it up. The woman was only found by accident and the husband has never been abusive or creepy or mentally ill before.

True, my godfather would not be alive if divorce was banned (his now ex tried to poison him and when that did not work she resorted to a cylindrical shaped solid copper infusion. He survived thankfully.) Had to use different words because the platform does not like the real word.
The one thing that irks me about this pick me is that for even the things she gets right, (Which is only a little, the rest is on a sliding scale from grey area to horribly wrong.) she does nothing to actually help men. So sorry for both of your experiences. I hope you’ve been able to see a good counselor who clicks with you. My story is about my biological parents, and it was traumatic there, and yes, there was a divorce but it didn’t last long enough. The only way I got out was through the social services terminating their parental rights and being adopted into a loving family. Though it doesn’t mean I can “know” what it’s like for others who live through the same thing when they are older, I still have all the compassion and empathy my heart can pour out to people who are in the middle of it, or who are just starting recovery. It takes time, be kind to yourself and seek help wherever and whenever you can find it. 💜

My best friend in primary school overheard her parents admit they were unhappy & only staying together for (the kids). Unhappy marriages can be harmful for children - even if there is no abuse (verbal, physical or otherwise) occurring, children and parents all deserve to live a life that fosters love, safety & happiness.

I have heard of this being practiced more recently, using 7 year cycles. After that time, the couple sit down and have an honest discussion about the relationship, and mutually decide to go into another 7 years or part ways.

His dad made sure nothing ever stuck to him.

As someone who basically had to give my mum permission to divorce my dad when I was 14 and honestly did not understand why she hadn't already, 1000%.
My ex husband and I lived together for a long time after we divorced and we dated others. 50/50 nobody paid support because it was best for our kids.

Speaking from experience, “staying together for the sake of the kid(s),” is worse than divorce. And I’m speaking as someone who’s seen my mom divorce my biological father, and then stay with my stepfather who abused her, just so her kid with him could have a dad in his life.

I find it really sad that there are women out there like Pearl who will say the most messed up things about women, solely for the validation of men. Only to never get picked. You usually see this kind of thing when there's abuse in the home. The abused child tries to get the abuser's approval while hating on the other parent because they subconsciously blame the non abuser for not protecting them.

That's weird. In Scotland, you do not need a Phd to be a psychologist.. A degree in psychology and counselling will get you into a psychologist position. However, you need a Phd to be a Psychiatrist because they can prescribe drugs and diagnose psychiatric disorders.

When he told him that he blew up stating he shouldn't have to change his job and she should still do it and be both the traditional wife...but keep her job. She dumped him then and there, stating he wasn't good enough for a traditional wife..
I'm more than half-way through.. I have a confession. I almost got swallowed up by the red-pill to alt-right pipeline and it had EVERYTHING to do with hating my mom and the way I was raised. I grew up in a conservative, religious household where even my mom would say things like "Men can't be committed to one woman and need multiple", "the most important thing a woman can do is give birth etc".
I've always been rlly feminist and I kind of just brushed off what my mom said. And then red pilled retoric started becoming more popular saying the same sht and I went into a phase of literally despising men (I still kind of do😃). Like, the things they say literally make me never want to b in a relationship w a guy and it has just caused me to build up so much resentment to men in general, it even affects how I view my brothers at times and ESPECIALLY my dad. I have a horrible r/s w him (cuz he's fkn incredibly complicated) and I notice myself projecting that resentment I've built up towards men to men in my life. And women who perpetuate these same ideas. (Eg my mom). I actually fkn hate the red pill and men and pick mes. And I unfortunately grew up amongst some of them.
I got in that pipeline too during high-school. I manages to escape after going to college and interacting with a more diverse group of people.

So I know for a fact that my ancestors owned slaves in America (on my mother’s side). My father is also a man of color. We have some baggage, to say the least.
My mother did try to tell me when I was very small that some slave owners treated their slaves nicely (the Washingtons are actually distant relatives of ours, and this is our “family history”, if you can believe it).
Even as a child, I thought to myself, “I don’t care if one person was nice. People are not property.” And the older and more educated I became, the more disgusted I grew at the thought that anyone could justify or play devils advocate for slave owners.
I am ashamed of my ancestors’ participation in the institution of slavery. I view my shame as an opportunity for growth. The only thing I can personally do is live in amends for that fact. I am so grateful for every opportunity I have to listen to the voices of black communities in America and all over the world. I will always support my brothers and sisters of color, especially in America.
Pearl makes me sick. There is nothing more foul or dangerous than a monster who thinks they are right in the eyes of God. I have compassion for her suffering, and I have 0 patience for her bullshit.

Eyyyooooooooo I got divorced last year BECAUSE it was what was best for my kids. Yes it was stressful for them for a few months, but their dad and I just didn't work well under the same roof.
It was more important to me for my kids to see what a healthy, happy adult relationship looks like than it was to have 2 adults who they share DNA with living under the same roof.
I'm so glad my parents got divorced, and have been since I was 10 (they divorced when I was 2). Because they were seperated they were actually able to be kind and co-parent effectively rather than scream and fight all the time. Our family had its problems sure, and there was a part of me that wanted the traditional family experience I would have so many more issues if they'd stayed together.

I think she is very sexist and blames her mother for being pregnant and giving a baby up, but not her dad, because she has a really 50s view of men and women's roles. It's that 50s thinking - women parents get all the blame, men parents get all the credit.
I think she has daddy and mommy issues because she feels like she wasn’t given enough attention growing up. She was one of ten children and her father and mother worked hard to provide their children with a great life/education. I’m sure not all of them got the amount of individual attention that they deserved but that doesn’t excuse her becoming a terror for the rest of the world. There’s a reason therapy exists. Instead of actually working on her low self esteem and feelings of inadequacy, she decided that falling down the red pill rabbit hole would be a much better idea. She has said in a past video the only reason she’s able to watch the kind of content she now creates is because she has such low standards of herself. She clearly doesn’t care about her own self care whether it be mentally or physically. I mean she doesn’t even brush her own hair in most of her videos. She obviously craved outside validation from her peers or the opposite sex, which is normal. However because of her high standards or lack of confidence she didn’t even get that. Sadly I’ve known many girls like pearl. Most of them grow out of these feelings when they mature and leave school. She clearly regressed and stayed bitter. Allowing her to over compensate once she finally found a source of validation, her social media accounts. Now we all have to live with Pearl. A person who thinks all attention is good attention.

I am a child of parents who tried to stay together for the kid, who tried to stick out their vows. All this did was result in me and my father enduring YEARS of horrific abuse at my mother's hands, ending in her attempt to unalive my dad and me seeing that, then somehow her getting custody of me and taking out her anger on me for the next seven years. My father was in therapy for years and I am still trying to unpack the damage she did, includng normalizing DV to where I ended up in an a-sive marriage. But sure Pearl, sure. Let's have people stay together for the kids.
I've always had the opinion that 1. Her content is motivated by income and provoking people gets the views she wants 2. She thinks her platform will lead her to the high value man, like her father, she wants to be with. 14:15 She's absolutely wrong. None of those industries are run by women. They're run by men with women being on the front line taking the brunt of the abuse and having no say in how things are done. In any industry that is predominantly staffed by women, when a man works there he is promoted faster out of the rank and file than a woman is. It's not just anecdotal, they've studied it. These "women" industries are run by men and men are moved into management positions as soon as they can be.

I’ve been married for 23 years. Divorce isn’t a thing you believe in or don’t believe in, it’s not faith or tradition, it’s a literal disillusion of a contract. I went into my marriage very clearly saying that if we come to a point that we’re not holding up our end of the terms it’s okay to dissolve the contract.

@@Gmenpg yes, but religious people feeling different doesn’t change that marriage itself has societal benefits (tax benefits, next of kin, inheritance, even visitation at the hospital in some circumstances) that have nothing to do with religion and that a “disbelief” in divorce don’t apply to the legality of the agreement. Pearl is missing the fact that not everyone who gets married is even Christian, or religious at all.

My favourite thing about the red pill term is that I once read someone explain that the Matrix is a trans allegory. The brothers who made the movie have both transitioned since and in the 90s estrogen pills were red. It makes the term even more silly to me.

I have heard a term describing this type of personality: "tofu person." A tofu person sucks up all the personalities around them because they are unable to form their own or unable to come to terms with their own self. It seems fitting in this case.

Probably best way to describe an influencer is that they're like "homemade celebreties." They combine all the charm of the celebrities but mix it up by reaching via social media that makes them feel more personal. Often their charm comes that they feel more ordinary, more familiar than someone who's face you see in papers or billboards.

Ok, just to say where I'm coming from, I am a stay at home mom and was a virgin on my wedding night. I'm exactly what Just Pearly Things seems to think women should be, apparently.
And with all that said, I cannot stand her! I chose to do/be these things because it was what was best for me. That doesn't mean it is the only way for women to live.
My husband and I have this setup due to my own medical needs (most jobs wouldn't work for me). I have a safety net if anything ever happened between us. I am, quite frankly, privileged to be able to live this way.
If I didn't have this safety net, I don't think I'd be comfortable not having an income as well. And I don't understand the vitriol towards other women that chose to work (for practical reasons or just because they wish to). And the idea that women deserve to be cheated on or whatever due to being "unpure"... I just do not understand how much she seems to hate women.

45:05 seriously! Part of why I agreed to go out with my now husband was because he was also waiting for marriage to have sex. He didn't expect me to be a virgin while not being one (the number of guys that wanted to be with me back in college only because I was a virgin was horrifying).
And again, to be clear, not saying anything against other choices. But the weird double standard was so frustrating. I wasn't necessarily only willing to be with a man that had never had sex, but if a man thought sex before marriage was ok for men but not women, they were immediately someone I wouldn't date.

As a DV and R survivor I can say that most of us stay because we know there's a good chance we'll die if we leave because of partner retribution for leaving. Statistics across the globe still provide evidence that the most dangerous time for any dv survivor is when they attempt to leave...no matter their gender. I'm 57 and utterly floored by this ideology. I am not a feminist...I'm an equalist. Every member of any society no matter their gender orientation, race colour or creed, should have equal human rights upheld and respect. In my country we had a case where a husband had killed his wife, cut her corpse into pieces and then put the pieces into suitcases. And his father helped to cover it up. The woman was only found by accident and the husband has never been abusive or creepy or mentally ill before.
