Man..stuff like this makes me realize how much we embraced full on degeneracy and depravity in the late 2010s..not just with rap but media in general. I feel like 10-15 years from now we will look back and realize how much we were wylin for entertaining this type of stuff in the first place and not being outright disgusted with it. Then again, that’s assuming the youth won’t be even worse by then 😬
For an entertainer, all attention is good attention & for others attention is just a drug, sothere will always be those who don't mind going Whatever over the top means at that particular time & people to watch it What I do hope happens is that people get back outside and mingling together instead of literally living on the internet. That would help see through a lot of bullshit
The first time I heard Drill music was back in 2010 Chef Keef. I remember when they were talking about deleting people on twitter and all that. Twitter was like the Wild West. I was so engulfed in that music genre I had some of the rapper's families follow me back on social media. I can say this video is spot on. Someone rap has evolved into a death culture for men, and 304 culture for women. Great job on this video.
Von could’ve made it out and possibly been as big as Durk but instead he left a blueprint on how to be a crash dummy and others willingly followed and sadly will continue to. When Charleston said he worked hard to die I couldn’t even be mad at that
Normally that's fact, because it almost seem von was at the edge to slow from the street activities as fgb duck was out already, but he was taken out fast
It’s wild how I found out about Von for being a killer through The War in Chiraq before he started rapping. Then the first he dropped was named “Beat Dat Body”.
I think what made Von different was how genuine and real he was.. Most of the Drill artists after him really seemed like an attempt at imitating the aura von had, but von didn't do what he did for clout or money.. Looked like he js did it bc he had a genuine and deep rooted hatred for the other side(also he might have gained some satisfaction from it idk)
I agree with you but people have it confused. Von actually wasn’t a crash out. He was a deleter but he played the game by the code and these other guys didn’t. Von was in jail a lot and had the chance to read a lot and he also came up in the city of gangsters so he had time to read his black disciple literature. This made him very intelligent and you saw it in their interviews and music. If you noticed there are 2 bodies he never bragged on because they weren’t meant to go down. Also he was immensely talented. I feel like rap stagnated due to his death because he was meant to be the next best rapper. The thing about Von was his music still outshined his activity. Von could draw, very athletic (coulda gone pro at baseball), and socially acute amongst other things. He had the IT factor that none of these guys had maybe apart from Lil Jeff. Where these guys have it wrong is that they put their activity ahead of their talent which makes the genre suffer. I agree with you but at the same time it’s blasphemous comparing these guys to Von. He was really like that. He used to rob rappers regularly outside studios before he blew up 😂 Durk went to that next level because of Vons energy imo, not the Drake feature.
To your point about YBC, I didn't even make the connection at first between that name and Mr Disrespectful because I just knew him as the latter and had never heard a song of his. You got me thinking on myself with this in a way man.

I enjoyed the emotion and realness in Foolios Voice/music but damn. Maybe its time for a HipHop Hibernation cycle. Things need to move forward instead of downhill
You've talked about 4batz and Ian(🤮) in the past and how the contrast works for promo. *poisoning idiots, if u can’t differentiate music and actual real life that’s natural selection , von himself made a whole song talking about how da streets ain’t cool 😂
First the one thing, Von was still doing that. He died feet on the ground. If he didn’t die he would be in prison for any number of crimes/murder including duck’s killing and the shooting and robbery in Atlanta. Von crashed out. As far as the actual subject I find it interesting, while I don’t think Von the reason just the prime example. This genre of rap, which is barely rap, it’s more like people talking shit over a mid beat, this genre has been going this way for a long time. While it once to survive getting shot like Tupac or 50, over the last decade it’s flipped into being the guy doing the killing. Rap music was born out of the need to deal with pain and let the world what was happening in these poverty stricken areas, it was a warning. Rap was meant to uplift. Drill is the opposite. Drill is actually glorifying death. Drill is glorifying the self genocide of poor young black men. Drill as a genre is sold by the white wealthy old man record labels with the intention of these killing each other. They want the artists to crash out. I’m sorry to people who love drill, I like some of the music, but it’s the anthem to young black male genocide.
Not to downplay all the negative shit Von did (as many do) but another side to him these people idolizing him don’t seem to see or emulate, is that he apparently did a lot of good things too. I don’t think it’s just because he’s a famous rapper that died, but some of the MANY stories people have about how much love he had for his people, and the giving back to to the community and all that stuff is just not something I see emulated by these newer drill rappers. Of course they sadly didn't get big enough to be handing out chains at the projects, and maybe I'm uninformed as to that side or them. Sadly though, it's just another demonstration of how cognitive/negativity bias has manifested itself so deeply into the culture. This ain’t out of a place of hate. At the end of the day these are really all a bunch of kids. I hope one day people will see this brutal phenomenon for the epidemic it truly is. 🙏🙏🙏

Von wasn't the Nexus point "DJ" Akademiks was. The first wave of drill rap natrually fell off and died down towards the end of the early 2010s but because of Akademiks and his "War in Chiraq" series he popularized the scene globally by turning many subpar shock value "rappers" into characters. This caused the world to tune in and for Chicago gang culture to spread across the nation and even overseas to the Uk, where their alterations of UK Grime into Drill, would eventually come back and start the 2nd wave of Drill via New York, Pop Smoke, 22gs, Sheff and Sleepy. From 2018 on the 2nd Drill Era has had hip hop in a chokehold that is just recently being loosened. If anything Von was just one of many benefactors of the 2nd Drill wave because let's not forget how Mumble/addict rap leap frogged Drill and took over the mid 2010s.

I never thought Von was for once serious about his rapper career. He was a one-hit-wonder (or two if you followed the stories) to which life gave a chance of escaping the miseries of the past, but who at the end didn't escape from itself. And he goes the irony, I think Von for all his lack of effort in lyrics, flow or production value will go down in the Hip Hop annals as his generation's Tupac. (take that Kendrick) and for what reason? His pose and bravado are as much a product of our times as was the case with Tupac back in the 1990s. But - and I've to credit Charleston White to point this out - Von was everything 2pac wanted to be. His style and gangsta attitude more than anything will influence generations of black teens to come, and this is awful.

The team around von? lol 100k track look at his resume and the people he’s managed numerous unalivers. Let’s see muwop and hk etc yeah they are the Chicago 6 or whatever you want to call them but they murdered duck most likely with von paying for that wet work. Hmm let’s see who else Von couldn’t be around smurk bc they had an active case . So not sure what you mean by vons team keeping him away from the bs. He was murdered and we don’t need to go into the off 4ktrey beef.
bloodhound lil jeff was a bigger fan of yb than von he said he didn’t really care about von he was in the streets active for personal reasons
