I really couldn't see the difference between the 3, personally don't think it's worth the $100. its good to see people trying to keep this original hardware going I mean yeah you could use a PS3 or emulator but for some reason it just isn't the same as the real hardware

The problem is using a hdmi link cable from the ps1 because that's doing most of the work before the m classic can do its work but there's no other way around it.
I use the m classic on the original Xbox and PS3 but to be honest it's not really worth using just to get that little bit of cleaning up on the graphic quality and it looks a bit dark with the overall look.
I get good results when using it on my PS4 VR 1 as it gives a nice cleaner resolution and brighter colours. It's not ground breaking but it helps.
    Good video by the way.

I wasn't really sure it was working good at all. That's why I wanted the side by side by side comparison so everyone can see the difference
There is a difference, and I think retro mode looks best. But it's very small for such a high price
If an FSR powered device comes out it will be way better!

@@GearsAndTech The MClassic isn't going to do anything unless your outputting a minimum progressive scan resolution, the PS1 and PS2 are the worst systems to use as a test. If you really want to see what the Mclassic can do you need a console that outputs at least 480p for the majority of it's library. What a lot of reviews of this device fail to mention is that it gives the best results when you have your TV's sharpness settings at zero. For the first two years I used this device, I had my TV's sharpness settings at 20 and was often doubtful as to whether my device was actually doing the job as intended do you how underwhelming a lot of the results were. After setting my TV's sharpness to zero, every game I've played using this device looks better than ever before.

Thankyou for the video. I have one of these and it works really well 480p games on Dreamcast,Gamecube,Wii, Og Xbox and Ps2. I cannot see the difference on the PS1 on your video. I'm guessing it doesn't work well with 240p from the PS1, even if the Mclassic reads it as 720p via the converter, or is the PS1 giving out an interlaced signal (Mclassic doesn't work with interlaced)

Enhancements off had better texture detail retention. The textures for the wheel rims are lost in the enhanced and "retro" mode. Although the enhanced and retro mode do have a bit of a juicier color contrast but at the sacrifice of details I mentioned before. Overall it does not by any means seem worth throwing down 100 bucks usd.

Back when I was looking for hdmi solutions for my ps2 and game cube I just went with ps2 to hdmi and hyperkin. I didn’t feel like the mclassic made a big enough difference to justify the 100+ dollar price. As for ps1, I put it back in its box after I got my ps2. If I wanted to play a ps1 game I played it on my ps2, and on ps3 when I got one. Unfortunately I skipped out on most of the ps3 era so I didn’t get a ps3 until the slim model came out. So I still need a ps2. However when Sony decides to take ps3 offline, then I’ll mod my ps3 and put my ps2 away.

Out of everything i think that in theory work for the ps1 but it didnt really have such high output quality or something I think. Ive seen it on a hd tv through a ps2 with actual smoothing on and it does look sightly better. On ps3 actually like makes it better but also bad kinda at least in my head anyway. Because im positive the "retro" mode has to be with scan lines like with the CRT tvs and its not there like at all

Hi thanks for the video. I use on a PS2. The Problem that it doesn't do that much is the fact that you have to put out the lowest resolution possible in progressice scan mode over HDMI from your gaming console! Maybe you can try it and review it with an Output at 240p and then let the mclassic work (not at 720p --> can you let the HDMI cable just passthrour the signal?) It will be way better. The same is for PS2 --> you have to use 480p NTSC or / 526p @ 50 Hz PAL ! Then on the same screen a visible chnage is definately visible a make sit an new gaming experience and in my opinion it does a great job. Disclaimer: take a look in the manual there are the different input and output resolutions stated. The mclassic needs obviously a progressive signal, and it only works with progressive scan mode when output is set to 240p, 480p, 526p@50 (in 720p@60 the magic is way less) --> the lower the input resolution the more "magic" happens.
BUT: some gaming consoles DO NOT put out a prgressive scan then its not worthy to use because nothinh happens / only Option on that: aother converter like OSSC converts the signal from interlaced to progressive bevor the mclassic.

    • @Will_ONeill
      @Will_ONeill 4 місяці тому

@@GearsAndTech thomashetzel2808 is correct, you won't get any help from the Mclassic unless your console is outputting progressive scan like 480p, 720p, 1080p, or 1440p.... That's why the Original Xbox, Wii, Dreamcast, and GameCube look so good with MClassic because just about every game for each of those consoles puts out a minimum 480p resolution. If you really want to get a look at what it's capable of then test with one of those systems.

So I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I own one of these mclassic units and have had a pretty decent time with it. There is one detail that I noticed that may help the unit be more effective in your test, if you're willing to revisit it.
Your adapter is already pre-upscaling your original signal to 720p, and 720p>1080p isn't much of a jump, so you won't see much of a difference, especially considering you're sending a line-tripled 240p signal.
I have seen more considerable results using a retrotink 2x because it's only upscaling the signal from 240p or 480i up to 480p, and there's much more room to let the mclassic do its thing with a 480p signal.
If you can find a rad2x ps1/ps2 version you wouldn't have to mess with av cables, but if you don't mind it, the retrotink 2x units paired with the mclassic is super enjoyable, especially with 3d ps1 games.
