    That agent deserved his commendation. Sure, we know now that he wasn't in danger, but he didn't know that at the time, and you know what he did? He did the goddamn job, regardless. Likewise, you want to talk about a waste of resources: everything we know about the SCP is because of the sample he brought in. If he hadn't, the Foundation might have had to draft (and then amnestitize) half of some country's Navy. Better and cheaper to have over built a containment cell.

    • @dylanhaugen3739

      Considers the other stuff the foundation deals with they could probably find another use for the containment area, and simple move the scp to a normal tank for sea life. Doesn't have to be a huge waste of resources.

    • @Warcrafter4
      @Warcrafter4 3 роки тому +44

      There's also the fact that someone is forced to "Bite the Bullet" to even get the observations set up to allow inoculation. So whomever first brought it in would be afflicted no matter what. So it couldn't be considered the agent's fault.
      He was also able to preform his task while under extreme hallucinations which in and of itself would be an invaluable property to the foundation regardless given it would allow them to be tasked with other mind altering SCP's.

    • @undefinedvariable8085
      @undefinedvariable8085 3 роки тому +20

      @@Warcrafter4 Agreed. This should be noted for the record. The agent's ability to carry out his assignment under acute psychological duress is instrumental.
      Despite agent [redacted]'s influence under SCP-252, he has demonstrated uncommon subliminal-subversive operational effective qualities essential in engagements with, and exposure to cognitohazards.

    • @Rhobyn

      Do you know how usual higher-ups/bureaucrats way overestimate what people should be able to know/do? Image that in the Foundation. "Oh, the anomaly turned out to be a reality bender and literally played Will-it-blend? with the rest of your MTF? Shoulda seen that coming, you visited Dr Clef's seminar. You're on 173 cleaning duty until further review."

It is always wonderful to hear about such odd creatures, especially since the deepest recesses of our planet's watery realms have yet to be fully explored. One has to imagine the sort of strange and exotic things that may reside within those depths.

Lovecraft tended to make creatures based on animals, plants ecetera that humans had little sympathy for, and the ocean was one of his favorite places for Eldritch abominations to hide. Among other things there were fish people (Shadow over Innsmouth), crab people (Whisperer in Darkness), fungi people, the Elder Things from the "Mountains of Madness" were based on sea anemones I'm fairly sure. The other interesting thing about that file was the ship. Right now there are people in the real world experimenting with mycelium based building materials.

      I don't think 3000 is going to be in this _specific_ series, because it's meant to be a way of sharing multiple smaller SCPs in a specific tag when they aren't long enough for their own devoted videos. Doesn't mean Volgun won't do it eventually, but I don't think in one of these collection videos. It'd have its own devoted video if he did it.

    I love these vs the other ones actually! I would love to see a couple videos that focus less on the scp documents themselves and more towards the kind of thing a worker in the foundation would see for whatever reason.

    I like the basic idea of relatiively harmless creatures that just muck with peoples minds making themselves seam way bigger and more powerful. It seams logical, I could imagine something like that happening in real life.

    I feel 252 is very underrated. I love the idea, both as an unexpected twist to the typical "hideous murder monster" (which is always welcome) and also as someone who loves marine biology and knows how overly sensationalized these animals can get, often to their extreme detriment.

    why hasn't the foundation tried setting up some sort of tank to collect species in 1686? especially after a fishing vessel fell from it, clearly there's a weird interdimenional thing going on and the individual instances could probably be pretty useful if preserved
