Just finished the main game with this mod. It feels VERY different from the vanilla game, in a good way! Much more realistic, immersive, does away with 90% of the super annoying gameplay mechanics.
Also, in addition to the "main" difficulty slider, this mod contains dozens of different tweaks for player HP, Damage, and same for various types of enemies - which effectively serve as difficutly sliders as well, and can be used as almost god mode (you can set Geralt's HP to up to x50 of it's default).
But those sliders go both ways. For instance, I've REDUCED Geralt's max carry weight to 50 for realism. At a time, he can only carry one set of swords, about 50 crossbow bolts, about 6-10 potions, a bit of food, 3-4 water bottles, 4-8 bombs, a set of 9 throwing knives... that's about it. No hauling around a spare set of heavy armor, lol. Only Roach can do that and even then only 1 or maybe 2 spare armor sets at a time.
Alchemy, potions, bombs, blade oils - have been dramatically overhauled and make so much more sense now.
There's neither levelling nor a linear gear progression - I've finished the game with Geralt's starter Silver Sword (although with a top fire runeword upgrade), with a Stinging Bremervoord blade I got about 25% into the game, and with Superior Feline light armor I've got about 60% through the main game. Also got Undvik heavy armor but, but ultimately preferred using light armor + extensive use of Quen.
The crazy, insane and hair-pulling inability of Geralt to run around for more than 5-10 seconds at a time and forcibly switching him to the idiotic crawl - can be turned off by changing Stamina consumption for running.
Same for most other things which annoy you a lot, such as fall damage - can be reduced a lot or even completely turned off in this mod.
The difficulty of some boss fights can become insane with this mod. Most notably the 3 Wild Hunt bosses: Imlerith, the mage and Eredin I wasn't able to beat without cheating (x50 health for Geralt, etc).
What this mod does NOT do, however - is the clunkyness of controls. The crossbow can sometimes glitch out and not activate, for instance. But the targeting can be made to be 90% camera-aimed (Geralt will still occasionally fixate on some enemy to the side, but signs and bombs can be aimed 100% manually)
Really high replayability value, I still look forward to playing though the DLCs with it!
Thanks for your review and tweaks
Can you say if you used Automatic Targeting or Manual? I mean can you explain the difference between the 2 or if it really makes a big difference?
@@MrBenderrrr Manual targeting only.
It actually always was like Sekiro, more than Dark Souls, because the main point in combat was to Parry/deflect, rather than dodge. That's insane man, these modders were way ahead of their time.
Who had the great idea of making auto executions without Iframes?
Agreed that was annoying, you can turn it off in the options
@@tommccahery1303 OMG thanks for this!
This mod just makes this game a next-level masterpiece. This will be my second complete walkthrough on W3EE and after this, I'm planning to try Lazarus Project just for that interesting toxicity rework (accumulation/purging) & talents adjustments that classic W3EE, unfortunately, doesn't provide.
I can only recommend this mod for people who're looking for some replayability factor. Don't give up after you die 10 times on the beginning ghoul fight as I did when I first started this mod. It's all about the learning curve and understanding the combat mechanics, finding the weak spots of the enemies (bestiary might help with these a lot), and executing the right tactics.
Very nice and informative video for people who'd like to try this great mod that breaths the new life to this amazing game. Very very good job Mr. Barabaw. Keep it up :)
Yeah those starting ghouls are probably as bad as it gets difficulty wise. One tip for beginners to move on would be to lock on targets so distance modifiers are automatic. But this is a crutch that should eventually be disabled, allowing free camera sword work, bending attacks and more aggressive gameplay

Now I am wondering if this is just a steep learning curve, which is fine, or :
-am I LITERALLY handicapped by a controller since it doesn’t seem to have a distance modifier button on it?
-Do controller players play with aim assist now?
-Are there any top notch controller mods to be played with 5.02?
Please let me know, I am struggling hard to be able to figure out the combat in this game just yet and I fucking love this game, finished it originally on DM and want to do so again.

The game just NEVER recompliles again so that I can even see that it's picking up the new mods for the game and attempting to recompile them. Even if I use Nexus Mod Manager and play around, even then when I launch TW3 I just get the enhanced edition and that's it.

Hes tired of living

the dude swings the sword so hard that chop the enemies in half, this is like 40 swing in 1 pretty worth
@Koray Sunay not really. Better than playing invincible beyblade with severance though
This is EXACTLY what i mean ! He is a fraeking witcher like you said enhanced by mutations and magic and gets tired from swining a sword and dodging ! I mean seriously ?! Go play Dark Souls if you wanna get tired after EVERY single action !

@@MrBenderrrr
yes, why would it be worse? what would be the point of creating it?
Cool mod. Really increases the difficulty and gives new impressions when replaying
Do you also try ghost mod ? I think W3EE is still better.
@@DragonsilverXGenesis Yes, I also once checked the Ghost mod, a long time ago, however, in the year 2018. It changed the game so little that it was more like fixing individual bugs than a gameplay mod. With the same success, you can simply ignore the shortcomings of vanilla and play it.
@@DragonsilverXGenesis GM is good, but still limited by levels. EE allows fully free exploration without artificial level walls.
Man, I didn't play this mod yet, but if this combat is at least half as fun as it seems in video, then holy shit.
You are a legend.
I think the biggest problem with this mod is that friendly NPC's die too quickly. This is especially problematic for NPC's with health bars like Ves or the Knights in Toussaint. Ves dies in like 2 hits. The Knights die instantly because I'm out of distance to reach their attackers. It's really frustrating and turns into an impossible to win scenario unless I manually turn all of the settings down so I can kill the bad guys quicker. This doesn't change their damage to friendly NPC's however, it just makes it easier for Geralt to kill quicker.
Has this been corrected in newer updates?
Also wish they'd allow new game plus.
Looks like an awesome mod, tons of work went into that. But even vanilla w3 took over 100 hours to completely finish. And i was constantly encumbered.
A bit late, but encumberance is easier in W3EE, because you can put 5+ times the amount onto Roach.

Is crossbow glitched for you guys who's playing in this version of EE? After shooting a couple of times, sometimes the crossbow just doesn't shoot anymore. Geralt just pull his crossbow then put it back again without reloading nor shooting if someone faces this glitch and found a fix, a help would be grateful thanks.
happened with me too, realised that its not a glitch, he put crossbow back because there is no fast target spotted. So to fix this aim camera directly on enemy or hold "С" for him to reload and aim manualy
Nice vid Barabaw, been waiting for this one.
Only thing I don't really care for in this update is dodge overexertion. Feels a little redundant since spamming will deplete you stamina quickly anyways.
Hopefully they add a toggle for it in the future, as its one of the extremely few things without a setting, but after combing through all of the script files and cursory in game testing, I'm not convinced it actually did anything in the first place :P

I just installed the mod but I seem to have an issue with poise. The sword icon keeps "glowing on-and-off" and I am unable to perform counterattacks\parries. Also, what I think is the poise bar (the one that in the base game indicates the exp) is always empty. Due to this I'm stuck at the tutorial, when vesemir asks you to do 3 counters

How can i solve the Script Compilation Errors?
how to make a counter with cutting on the pad in the fight against monsters? Geralt always counteracts with a kick
What happened to the mod though? It's not there when I click on the link?
W3EE Redux is the best thing ever happening to me in gaming. Turns W3 into a true challenge combat-wise and puts something approaching realism into Geralt's life. Although I gotta say some of the out-of-combat quality of life reductions are just plain unnecessary and annoying, like the ridiculous horse inventory and missing stashes (except armor/weapon). Many ingredients for crafting/alchemy add up to enormous weights and nobody, literally nobody, loves the mod for having to constantly go out farming for each specific craft.
Luckily you can set roach inventory to sensible values.
Also, Geralt must find wood, the most abundant resource in the world, to light a fire. Sure. Deactivated lol.
Other than that, it's perfect. The Redux maker even added different stamina presets to fit different approaches.
dude you did not include the mod for your sword effects. none of the mods you have in that list change the sword vfx. so wtf is that mod i cant find it anywhere

It's a monolithic monument to artificial difficulty, setting Geralts health to 5x mitigates the worst of it. Still better than vanilla though and the non combat edits are excellent. Does it have pirouette dodge?
And also, does it work well with a controller?
Played Elden Ring yesterday. Felt shit, wondered why- there's hype, it looks cool, feels awesome, but something is missing? Well, I used to play enhanced edition W3 and it's very hard to beat that.
i think this is overdo, i installed mod that up hp and damage to 300% for all enemys, on top of max diffuculty and autoleveling - its mooooore then enough, for interesting gameplay.
can i just updated the old version or do i have to reinstall it completely?
As far as I know, you have to reinstall it completely because there might be some conflicting files that overwrite each other, and you won't have a good time for sure
F*ck that. I can't even win a single 1on1 barfight because I get knocked out xD
does anyone here plays this mod at hard max or medium difficulty? cause its been impossible to me lol
The truth is that while on paper the combat in this mod sounds great, in practice it doesn't work too well because it expects you to pull off Sekiro-style reactions and parries, but the engine of the game just isn't built for that type of moment-to-moment combat. The combat also isn't collision based, so enemy attacks will hit you even though they were either too far or their attack didn't even physically connect with you, making dodging somewhat unintuitive. This coupled with Witcher 3's unresponsive controls makes it all quite frustrating at times.
TDLR: Don't feel too bad about lowering the difficulty or lowering stamina costs slightly. I also recommend turning off Finisher Vulnerability, otherwise you will get punished for attacking human enemies whose poise you've reduced to 0.
@@filipkyselica8041 FINALLY SOMEONE SAYING THIS
This is EXACTLY my opinion with the mod. Great mod paired with great game, but ultimately feels super frustrating because of bad hitboxes, bad teleghraphing of enemies... etc..
I really like the added distant modifier, but even then the combat as said, requires such levels of precision and not getting hit, that it becomes bullshit (especially on large monsters like griffins/cockatrice or whatever)
Injuries stacking can be a bit annoying too, as you won't be able to counter effectively bleeding in the middle of a combat (imagine Margit inflincting you with scarlet rot while having to manage every attack of his, in Elden Ring)
So far I haven't found anybody that has REALLY the same complaints I have with this amazing mod. Problem is, it's a mod for a game that is from 2015, so very little discussing can be made about it, or troubleshooting, or tweaking the mod to be really playable smoothly - i have to tweak enemy damage otherwise it's impossible on top of the DoT they inflict (again, try thinking of any boss fights from dark souls/elden ring, but with only 1 potion at most and 500HP - and on top add the fact that there's a problem with the game's hitboxes as it wasn't designed that way (again your comment says it all and at this point i'm just ranting by frustration, because i want to play this game with this mod)
So how buggy is this mod based on all your experiences? On Nexus, it has over 90 bug reports.
If you're not going out of your way to find bugs, you would probably not even encounter them
90 reports because the author is a lazy piece of ...

Then run "verify cache files" in steam
Also savefiles are messed up by w3ee so you'd have to start a new game
as someone who's played both witcher and dark souls games multiple times, not every game needs to be souls-like
As someone who's played Witcher vanilla, modded, and dark souls I can proudly announce that W3ee is nothing like dark souls, unless you're meming
This mod helped me to understand that vanilla game is actually near perfect in it's simplicity. Games like Witcher 3 do not need these overcomplicated mechanics, they only detract from the game main most important part -- story and dialogues.
It's person to person, I enjoy these overcomplicated mechanics, that's why mods are a great thing.
You prefer spamming dodge and queen hit and roll and hit
The mod is not hard or complicated at all,it just requires you to have good timing with parry and dodge, and also when to go forward and attack
You can't just go swing your sword knowing your safe because of queen and than roll
If you try to do that you will be punished, you need to stay relaxed and wait for opportunity
And every fight is dangerous if you go swing your sword without thinking
The results?
It's way more satisfying and more badass and it fits with the real world(oh you saved me from bandits wow, yeah that was a battle I know)
Amazing is the only thing I can say
Can I use this on controller? I like the ideas of parries but it’ll be weird if it isn’t mapped to “L1”

I would suggest playing with the mod, so that you won't have to readjust your ingame habits, because they play like two almost completely different games. The mod doesn't affect the story and is exclusively gameplay oriented, so you won't lose any bit of the game itself. It also makes the game more fun and varied, so you wont get tired of going through fights that play out exactly the same.

I decided to try this. It has been toted as 'the mod to use if you hated the original controls and combat'. So naturally after very much wanting to play but despising the controls and combat I dived into Enhanced Edtion MOD.
Here's the warning I want to give new people - It is not easy by any means (for a newer player). I've had to tweak settings quite a bit. For example your Vigor is way too rubbish in the beginning. Monsters seem to have unlimited Vigor where you get tired after a few slashes. No one wants rock solid combat against trash enemies like wolves and drowners. You know the very first fist fight in the game with the 3 guys outside the Inn? Yeah I'm a noob right, those guys destroyed me in two or three punches... I'm supposed to be a kickass mutated Witcher over a century old... these guys are drunk af peasants.
Without tweaking the mod it makes me feel more like a low level Henry from Kingdom Come than Geralt of Rivia. All these settings are easily accessible and simple to understand so no worries. No doubt as I become more skilled I will need to bring these settings closer to default as I've heard some experienced players actually state that it's too easy.
The whole 'bending' attacks thing is completely useless on controller. No matter what I do it just does not work. If anyone can help me there that would be grand.
The inventory system is still completely trash, the mod has barely scratched the surface there.
Roach is still an absolute slug to control.
The removal of levels is a welcome addition. In Vanilla I'd go exploring only to find myself face to face with things I couldn't do because of level. Not a bad thing in most game designs but because of the semi-tedious fast travel system and sheer size of the world this can get annoying. Don't be alarmed at the incredibly slow rate at which you learn skills. I've been playing for 10-15 hours and I still haven't gained a melee skill point outside of the first ones you get for free.
With all that being said I am now enjoying the two things I hated - Geralt's movement and the combat.
My very small mod list:
Enhanced Edition Mod
Music Overhaul Project and Familiar Music Replacement - because no one wants to hear 'lalalalalaa lalalaa' a thousand times a day and there simply isn't enough variation in the music. So much so that in Vanilla I'd have the music turned off.
Fast travel from anywhere.
'The whole 'bending' attacks thing is completely useless on controller. ' .....I think I found the cause of your difficulties. This mod is 10x harder with controller. Don't do it bro. Don't even.
@@VarietyGamerChannel Shame. I can't imagine playing any 3rd person action RPG with a mouse and keyboard. It feels too alien to me. I'll give it a go atleast. Thanks.
@@lullylew9083 After a handful of hours you will get used to it. Yes the chunky movement with wasd keys feels painful but your brain adapts and you will find the game easier because keyboard and mouse allow for far more precision and much faster actions.
Bending attacks is a meme, it never worked and it still doesn't unless you are in some open location that is completely free of obstacles.
I would note that the main reason a seasoned witcher wouldn't die to drunken peasants is because he has fast reflexes. While witchers can survive wounds most people cannot, it's not an ultra-reliable thing to bet one's life on. To put it quite simply, a witcher wouldn't get hit. That's what the default settings help emulate.

This mod is complete junk, and the dev ego is bigger than this whole franchise.... redux is far more better, the dev answers everything, and helps by giving code lines if the user want to personnalize his experience...... meanwhile in enhanced edition you cant even pass the tutorial with vesemir because it was badly designed thus you cant even perform a counter attack
Could you elaborate more on this? Im still considering which mod to install so any feedback is appreciated
@@agrippa2012 okay, just install W3EE..... go for it, play the tutorial, the moment you cant even perform the counter attack against vesemir even if they block time to give the chance to learn the basics, you wont ..... because it is badly coded .......and when you ask something in the forum.....maaaaan ......... in the other hand, i had an alternate quen problem with REdux, the dev sent me the exact lines, one by one and the folders where to modify it, and everything i needed to tweak his mod, no problem, quick to answer, and i played the mod for so many hours, it adds difficulty, but dont kill the game........ problme with W3EE is that it began big big hopes, but it ended badly, its just a nearly umplayable experience, where you have one of the best witchers in history, who cant perform three strikes and parries without being penalized....its insane
@@abdelhakyac7285 you mentioned the tutorial thing in your original post, what about problems after that part? How long have you played EE?
Personally, i don't really mind the gameplay-story segregation aspect. It doesn't make sense storywise that giga chad geralt gets tired after three swings but if it makes for better gameplay than im okay with it.
Good to know that Redux is customizable, im going to look more into that mod.
Git gud is my advise
@@agrippa2012 A little bit late, but my 2 cents. This mod is top notch if you like challenging gameplay. Its one of the best mods i ever played. The author is sometimes not a friendly guy which is the reason why some people are mad about him, but thb he gives us great free content and doesnt get back anything for this, so he doesnt own anything to us.
Most boss fights are a real challenge and the right equipment and potions are very helpful. I like it to prepare myself before every important fight, maybe thats not to everyones taste.
Tbh i dont know what Abdelhak Yac is talking about.
You die a lot at the beginning but similiar to dark souls after some time it gets much better. You still die a lot but not in every fight ; ).
You also have huge possabilities to change the settings, from dmg modifiers to health reg, health amount..... Just fit it to your taste.
Oh hell no ! Dont turn this game into Dark Souls ish rip off... Its bad enough that AC Odyssey Origins and the shitty Valhalla riped this game off by literally copy pasting the controlls from the witcher 3 in it and making it a RPG. Enough of this.
It is not like dark souls... for some people it makes the boring ass vanilla combat more engaging.. I don't really understand why you would watch this? It's a mod.. you don't have to install it?
