I'm not the biggest Zelda fan. Tbh, I've only beaten one, Link's Awakening for GBC. I got pretty far in Minish Cap once too. But other than those, I've tried a bunch and just couldn't get into 'em. Now, I finally get a Switch early this year (2024). I tried BoTW, and I was legit hyped for it, with how everyone goes on about it. I got bored. It was mostly the emptiness of the travel between areas. Like, it looks cool visually to have that massive of a map, but practically, there has to be stuff to do, or the traversal has to be fun at least. And it was was mostly slowly running, slightly less slowly ride a horse, slowly climb, or glide (after climbing a bunch and hoping you have the stamina to go where you need). I didn't hate it, I was actually have a blast in the tutorial, the Great Plateau. I was loving the different areas and environments, and just the general variety. But once I got out of there, and into the main world, it was super boring (to me at least), unless I was specifically at an important location or something. The in-between, I just couldn't have fun. Add in how fast the weapons and shields break, and it just ended up being a massive annoyance plus long stretches of boredom. So I stopped. I wasn't having fun, and I'm not one of those people that wanna play a game I'm not enjoying because "it gets better 15+ hours in" or something. If I'm not having fun, I'm not having fun. Then, I tried ToTK. Man, I haven't stopped playing. The Ultrahand stuff immediately makes the traversal more fun, even if I'm just building a dumb 5 piece cart off the supply stand, and rolling down a hill. And then later on as you unlock Zonai stuff, and upgrades, and you can REALLY mess around. Especially once you get comfortable with the controls and get some health, you can start dicking with enemies, building traps, weird tank vehicles, flying vehicles, or whatever other nonsense your brain can think to glue together. Mix that with BoTW's already surprisingly good physics and stuff, and the game's just a stupid amount of fun to play.
I have a theory that the kokiri and the minish were basically merged. It makes sense when you consider that a lot of what the koroks are doing is significantly more in line with minish lore than with korok (or kokiri) lore.
Very informative and interesting video. If I may make a single, tiny critique, I'd suggest cutting down on doubled adverbs. For example, "Additionally, fans also thought ____, too." Additionally, also, and too all serve the same purpose in that example, making it sound very awkward and redundant. There was a string of sentences somewhere in there that not only all did that, they also had identical structure. It was an odd hiccup in otherwise smooth scripting and narration, but after the repetition became very noticeable.
Botw was gonna be something big and it failed. It felt so unfinished after noticing all the cut content. I like the idea of a modern Zelda game a lot actually, not so much a fan of those concepts or the comic shown, but the idea is great. I think instead of Ganondorf being some punk villian character, he could be like a corrupt CEO/Yakuza style villian in charge of the second-largest corperation of Hyrule, trying to take over the largest, the Royal Family (which in this world would be another company since kingdoms would have been abolished).
