On the patching of the holes etc, on the old plaster areas, best to wet the old wood lath a bit first, then use Structo Lite gypsum plaster mixed in small batches then add some dry portland cement after its mixed and mix that in. It will excellerate the set of the gypsum so that it will harden fast, allowing for doubleing up with a final coat in the same day. For open holes like old electrical boxes just shove some batt type insulation in the hole and apply the gypsum charged up with the portland. Finish with drywall spackle.

Enjoyed watching the video and learning. I have to fix similar plaster wall problems. Can you apply durabond with pva on the plaster base coat? The top coat on part of the wall came off exposing the base coat probably due to moisture.

Hi Badchips, you can do exactly what you're asking - it works perfectly! I would make sure the PVA is applied to at least a 6" perimeter around the repair so when you apply a finish coat or two of drywall compound, it sticks to the existing lime finish.
Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

I have followed your steps, scraped loose paint, washed the wall, opened the cracks, painted Plaster Bonder then applied Durabond 90. As it is drying I have areas that are bubbling. I opened a blister and it is loosen to the old plaster. Do I need to remove the what I have have on the wall and start over again? Or do I treat it locally and move on?
