Yea I couldn't bfigure out why he looked familiar when i found him and heard him. Then someone said he loved his show. Then told me he was on trucks. I recognize him now. I didn't watch much the years he was on.
My favorite part about these GMT400 and even GMT800 trucks is how modular they are. They made so many configurations that you can pick pretty much anything you want in terms of options with minimal modifications. For example I just put in a plug and play Yukon Denali cluster in my 2001 GMC and now I have a 120mph speedo and a trans temp gauge!
They did put over head console in extended cabs. It's not super common but they did the console is different to. 94 up only extended cabs. I put one in my 94 there's a video on my channel and also one explaining the different consoles. Along thoue in 99 they ditched the pickup style consoles and used the suv ones with the older lights. I did not no that when I made the second video on it.
Looks like your son will continue your channel later on in life. I love it. Kids are the future. Teach him all you know. Work with your hands and you will always have work... Great job LT...
When it comes to cleaning the carpet and detailing inside Chrisfix has some excellent videos that might help and might not require full carpet removal.
I picked up an overhead console and dome light today at the local U-Pull for 22.00! Now I have a place for my sunglasses in my 1998 C2500 extended cab. Thanks for the inspiration LT!!
Hay today I ran across yer videos for the first time, gotta say I like what yer doing. I bought k 1500 7 yrs back its a 99 also an have been doing restorations an making it my own ever since. There for a couple yrs I was on the look for middle bucket seats which I found at pick a part but did not get them.Bad mistake on my part, they are tough to find an to this day I keep my eyes an ears open even though satisfied with what I did. An that was get rid of the 60/ 40 mid seat an behind driver side front seat put A passenger front seat minus arm rest. This has worked out great leaving room behind passenger front seat an 3rd row seat plenty of room an easy access to put what ever I need to put inside. I'll tell ya after time you find ingious ways of changing out parts without spending a ton of money. This upholstery shop wanted $500.00 bucks to do head liner. What? Back to pick a part fount one excellant shape, $14.00 . Had to go show it off to upholstery shop, guy comes out I tell him ya 14.00 bucks buddy. Any how it's been a lot of fun an a big learning experience. Putting in New transfer case in Monday & the whole power train will be new. So keep up the good videos I'm sure I'll be tunning in often. Aka Highway.
It looks great. I love how everything just bolts in. All the work was done at the factory and all you need to do is connect the dots. Your son is great at the end of the video.
You’re right on - regular cab trucks don’t have that metal tab in the back for the overhead console. Some people just hang the console from the headliner, I used JB weld to add some metal.
I really like the suburban. I bought a 96 ext. cab in 98 and a co-worker bought a new 98. If I recall right he had a long overhead console. Don't know if someone ordered it that way or not. Loved my 96 without the optional 3rd door. Super quiet riding truck. No squeeks... no rattles. To bad I sold it at 185K. Should have kept it. Bought a van for hauling my dirt bikes and then modded the heck out of the truck for a daily. I traveled for work so I bought a 08 with only 16k on it. Now it sits at 230K.
95+ ext cab trucks could come with the full length overhead console, generally on well optioned trucks. the only difference with tahoe and suburban consoles is to forward portion was slightly different shape without controls for rear HVAC, it was just a smaller delete plate instead.
Just so you know, farts clean off leather seats WAY easier than cloth seats. Just swap the seat cover from the passenger seats and just buy a new driver seat cover to match the rest. Probably would be easier than trying to find rear seats to match and possibly less expensive? Happy New Year!
Hey LT I hit a junk yard and found a 97 ext cab K1500 tan interior just like mine and it had a factory overhead panel! You said you wasn’t sure if they came in them and I can confirm they do! I snagged it but I noticed the roof carpet is different (flat on mine vs curved on the one I pulled from)
Leather trimmed '96 and up extended cabs had overhead consoles and compass mirror. I sniped mirror off a friend of mine that was trading his leather trimmed truck in and got an overhead console out of a wrecked one. Still haven't gotten around to putting in the overhead, but the mirror was a 15 minute wiring and swap.
Thanks LT! I have these exact seats sitting in my garage ready to swap into my 98 extended cab. This makes locating that drivers bucket a piece of cake. Thanks so much for the video and tips to make it an almost painless installation. I had no idea about the existing boss and dimple in the floor pan! Thanks from Brunswick Maine!
As a detailer, you may guess the carpet was a trigger for me. :) In lieu of the power washer method, please consider a small carpet extractor. (Bissell Little Green is a good model, and you'll love it for the house as well.) Drying time is much shorter, and on the stubborn stains you'll appreciate the extra oomph. You can also get a brush for your drill or DA sander that will really agitate and clean the carpet (and seats for that matter).
Cool video! You should definitely put the tallest lift available for that year. The wheelbase is so long it’s very easy to get high centered off-road. Absolute minimum tire size should be 35s preferably 40’s with a solid axle swap. Keep up the great content!
Hey JT! I just found your channel and subscribed. Love the content and instruction. I only wish you’re shop was closer to the Midwest. Keep up the good work and I’ll keep watching.
I added an one of these overhead console on my 04 silverado. With the lights working and everything. Still had the same location for the tabs like the previous years.
Ceiling console mod was the first mod I did to my ‘95 K1500 when I was 16. Dad kept telling me no because he didn’t want me cutting into the headliner but I did it anyway and sure enough the factory holes were there. Ended up getting the compass and temperature working as well
I have the 96 K2500 with the leather bucket seats. I'm thinking of taking out my center console and replacing it with a custom one. Wanting two cup holders at the front of the console, because that CD storage is useless to me, with an insulated thermo-cooled box behind it. Be nice to have a spot built in for cold drinks and snacks, rather than lugging a portable plug in one on trips.
I have a center console coming out of my suburban. I’m doing the opposite swap from buckets to 60/40. You can have it for the cost of shipping from Pa. all it needs is cleaned and a new latch
Idk if anyone has said anything but in my 97 3 door extended cab the passenger seat is not a direct bolt in. The brackets are longer than the seats out of a Tahoe or suburban. You have to drill 2 more holes because the the width is good just not the length
Love the channel! I’ve binged everything up til now. Gotta say though, the music in this particular episode was pretty rough 😝 keep up the awesome content!
Enjoy watching what you do,have for years.I have a lifted '95 K2500 'Burb with the big block and am watching how you fix this one up and have fun with it.BTW,they are very capable off-road,ask me how I know HaHa!!

Hopefully some Duramax content coming soon..?.. I'm currently saving $ to upgrade my trans before I can go further with more power. 05 SLT LLY 4x4 ccsb 2nd owner rust free florida "grandpa truck."
I wish I knew about the holes already being there for extended cab because a few years ago I had a console in my hand looking at the headliner in my truck and gave up. There’s lesson here, if you have an idea do it, if not, when it’s too late LT will just show you what you could’ve done 😂
All I'm finding is front buckets with integrated seatbelts, which makes my b pillar mounted belts redundant and by default stupid looking. What are these out of in that era that didn't have integrated seat belts?
maybe because in Brazil, GM never officially sold the suburban, and the closest thing we had of this generation is the Silverado single cab and short bed, I always felt that the dashboard without the airbag looks way better.. was it always available as standard, or was it an option LT?
in the US, 1995 and 1996 model year trucks had no passenger side airbag, but in 1997+ I'm pretty sure most trucks got the dash with the bigger hump and airbag on the passenger side, except some 3500 trucks which had a little storage area where the airbag went.
I think that full length upper console came in extended cab pickups. My dads 97 Sierra had one and we bought it at a dealer in 2004, I doubt someone would modify it that early
in all the trucks I've worked on and seen, I don't remember a ceiling console, but a lot of people on here have commented that theirs had one stock, so I've been corrected!
Indeed I had a '97 Silverado K1500 Ext. Cab w/3rd door .. It had the roof console like u installed. Also had the buckets with the center console as well.. made it a donor truck and took all the above out for my 96 step side. Pulled Jasper engine out and the trans that had recently been rebuilt.
When I got my 01 Audi A4 the interior was trashed! And ugly. I ended up getting a full black leather interior to swap in plus a bunch of little bits here and there. It's amazing how much it transformed the car!
Some of these model trucks had an option for middle row captains chairs. Ever think of just getting another set front seats and just throwing them in the middle row? It makes it a lot easier to get to the third row if you have one.
can say if you do this you have to be carful with the onec you put in if you have an extended cab as GM made three diffrent overhead consels one for the pickup truck thats the smallest one one for both Suburban and Tahoe thats has the climet controls in them and the longgated one for the Astro van
LT im also working on my 96 burban. Did you notice if you can access the rear roof mounted havc controller when you removed the dome light assembly? Need to replace the hvac light as I have converted all interior lights to leds. Thanks and great job on the channel. Huge fan!
Could you just switch the seat bottoms? That way the worn edge of the drivers seat would be against console on the passenger side? I’ve been wondering to do this myself, just haven’t looked into it...
I pulled decade old stains from pennies on a carpet with a product called "Stain Extinguisher". Rub it in with a nail brush, then blot it clean with a white towel. Even got oily grease from a boot print out of my hall carpet with it.
I have a 1998 Tahoe that I’m selling. Gold with the same gray cloth interior in mint condition. I have the console just like you wanted as well. $1200 in San Diego.
What year model are those seats out of buying a 92 Cheyenne wt 6.2 z71 longbed with the plastic bench seat wanting to convert it over to these soft seats
I just saw the video of you Removing the running g boards if you still have them and want to get rid of them I am in desperate need of them for my disabled parents
Could you tell me something. I have a 2000 chevy 1500 fully loaded, body is shot . Went and got a body but base model, will the base model have all the wiring so I can switch my interior in to the base model and everything work. Or am I going to have to take the full wiring harness and fuse junction from old body. Thanks.

Loving this series. Cant wait to see more. As a 2 door Yukon owner I love the GMT400's
1998 extended cab, k2500, 4x4 has the buckets and console you want with the over head console
