    This great!!! I wish she was a professor at my uni. She is very conscice and straight forward. She uses metaphors very well and the fact she explains a cytikine storm as a positive feedback loop.

    Immature T cell (cd4+) gets stimulated by IL-12 FROM APC to make TH1 cell. The TH1 then makes IL-2 and IFN GAMMA.

      Cytokines are like this! There are a couple of things that everyone agrees on though. CD4s can make IL-2. T Cells can make IFNg

      Maureen Richards Immunology & Microbiology
      Dr Richards, i am a geriatrician and part of a university as an associate professor. I am not an immunologist but can you please read my thoughts on cytokine storm and see if it is accurate?? This is pertaining to cytokine storm of SARS COV 2:
      IL-8 is released by macrophages (along with IL-1 B , IL-6, TNF alpha)
      IL-8 activates neutrophils just like IL-17 does.
      We have to look at TH17 cells (that make IL-17) and turn them off. IL-6 activates TH17 and perhaps that is why IL-6 blockers (tocilizumab and even leronlimab) work.
      IL-17 in covid patients ARE VERY HIGH. TH17 IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT IN THE DISEASE BECAUSE IT GOVERNS THE NEUTROPHIL INFLUX. TH17 is inappropriately activated in covid (an intracellular pathogen). TH17 is used for extracellular pathogens and fungi infections.
      IL-4 is also elevated in covid. Sounds inappropriate because IL-4 would be turning on TH2 immunity for helmiths and allergy
      Also IL-10 is very high in covid as well. IL-10 is usually made by Tregs, and unfortunately IL-10 will turn off TH1 system to fight viruses.
      IL-10 suppresses Cd4.
      Another problem is the CD4 and CD8 cells are in low amounts and senescent and exhausted which are marked by PD1 and CD57.
      In sum, EVERYTHING IS INAPPROPRIATELY TURNED ON IN THIS CYTOKINE STORM:
      TH1

    A complicated process with a lot of oddly named sub-organisms or elements. I wonder how long you have to study it for it to make sense. It’s certainly timely with our virus friend running wild all over the globe.
    Maybe a computer game would be educational as the whole process is like a war game.

      The virus running around the world was never stopped. ChinA interfered with the Sars outbreak. Animal studies put humans in danger. I say get the hell out there and monitor the animal populations for diseases. Not setting them up in comfy cages and screwing with virulent as germ warfare. Have a nice day.

  • @imaginaryuniverse632
    @imaginaryuniverse632 3 роки тому +1

    I think it confuses things when we talk about a virus like it has desires or an ability to plan. Everything moves as the result of a resonance of attraction but a virus has no ability to choose where it goes because it's frequency is a constant because it isn't alive.

    • @stephenpowstinger733
      @stephenpowstinger733 3 роки тому +1

      No, I think it is helpful to characterize a simple organism as if it had a mind of its own, just as its useful to talk about an organ being created to do something (as in “the eye is created to see”).

    • @imaginaryuniverse632
      @imaginaryuniverse632 3 роки тому

      @@stephenpowstinger733 I like your idea about making computer games for learning. I thought about that for exercise equipment to motivate people by having realistic adventures.
      I think it's the isms that define something as being alive. All things are subject to the manipulations of the organisms that choose to effect them or that choose or happen to come into contact with them. I believe consciousness is seen by it's ability to deviate particles from their otherwise inevitable position. If there was no conscious being left the path of everything in the Universe would be entirely predictable. Of course I also believe that the Universe is the Creation and is governed by consciousness. These are my reasons for saying I don't think it's helpful to talk of a virus as though it can choose. This view pretends the virus has power of it's own and we are subjected to it's inevitable consequences when the truth is the opposite. People take from this errant point of view that whatever will be will be and/or all these things are in God's hands. I see the virus as being a challenge with obvious correct actions to be taken in mitigating it's effect. I think taking the point of view that going about our business as usual is showing trust in God makes as much sense as just driving through traffic lights. We can obviously see what will happen very often if we just drive through lights leaving it in God's hands but neither should we worry about cars coming out of nowhere and crashing into us in our living rooms. The short of it is I feel it's very important to understand the difference between what is inevitable and what we have control over. The lack of this understanding is I think one of mankind's most important challenges.
      The thought didn't just come to me watching the video. I saw a lady going to a church in her car last April, against guidelines and when almost nothing was known about this virus really, and she rolled the window down and started screaming at the press about her freedom and how she was protected in the blood of Jesus and screaming hateful things with spit flying out her mouth and her face all contorted. It reminded me of Satan telling Jesus to jump off the cliff and his angels would save him. He said thou shall not tempt the Lord. Many are acting entirely selfishly in reaction to this virus and pretending that it is out of faith when they are actually just taking the gamble of falling off a clear to see cliff and forcing others to take the same gamble when they bring their ignorant yap holes in the presence of others as though it is their God given right. It's the opposite of what the Bible or any major religion teaches.
      Well I go off on tangents.. I appreciate your comment it also goes with the video I was watching when I decided to check my notifications and reminded me about something I think is very interesting. The body has 3 kinds of instruments wind, string and percussion and you reminded me that particular parts of the body are called organs. I actually think this way of thinking about the body and what influences it as being about vibration or music is extremely useful in finding cures for disease. It's actually how the vaccines were made fundamentally. It would be very useful I think if there was a video game that allowed a lot of people to explore different possibilities of what might happen given many different choices.
