Thanks Jon. He had something going on, still not sure what. Never got a sunken belly despite not eating. I hate mystery deaths but they do happen in this hobby.
I can only add to some other comments, thank you so much for sharing this adventure with us. What an awesome fishroom and incredible new tank project. So glad the move went well, what a beast. Again thank you sir.
I am really surprised that you did not have the stand precut (and reenforced) to meet your needs. The side access is a must have with any sump, especially a large one. Please be mindful with sump design to have clear access to the filter water polishing media. A center split with pumps on each would be great and tidy for intake/return lines, but the sponges/filter socks will be between the doors and may impede access for maintenance. That tank is awesome!!! Thanks for sharing your life buddy...lol.
I had not decided on the type of filtration I was going to be using and if it was going to be a sump I figured I could get the tank in through the front cut outs, like I did with the 210. But that 60 gal a bit too long. Not a big deal really. I have the cutting equip and real support of the tank comes from the vertical and cross beams, not so much from the outside wood slats.
Sorry about the Fusco Ben😢 Congrats on The 300!!! And some FYI…i have a dozen rainbows in my 90 for almost 2 years with my 4 Sevs, crew of Geos Geos, Albino Heckli, and an EBA…the rainbows have thrived and act as great dither fish👌🏼
This is my experience also with Giant Dinos. They thrive and the African cichlids don't even bother with them. I am trying out Tiger Barbs in the same tank ( 120g with 40 mixed Africans) just to have more schooling fish.
Tank looks amazing, many of my friends moved to Nashville, I live in Lodi CA and I’m starting to see why they moved, thank you for what you do and sharing with us.
The big boy has arrived! Ben, have you already decided what return pump you are going to use yet? A 3000gph pump will be needed. You have a large sump tank. Make three sections minimum..4 would work out nicely. I would put buffering media in one if you want higher pH. I'd also put in some high quality bio media with deep substrate in one section to possibly get anaerobic bacteria growth.
Possibly 2 Sicce 5.0’s. I’m still rolling around the sump layout. I might return to the middle of the 60 gal with pumps on each end. A bit unconventional, but could work.
Awesome Ben , wonderful layout. That 300 looks like it closes in a room of tanks. What a view you have. Water change days are taking in a new meaning. Cheers
Looks great Ben, think we all live vicariously through you lol, I’m going to work my wife into turning my garage into a fish room, anyways everything is looking great
Congratulations on the new Tank, exciting times ahead. My suggestion would be to upgrade the Africans to provide more space for the larger growing predatory haps like the Hawk. You already running 2 American tanks anyway.
I love afs more than sacas but it makes more sense to put the sacas in the 300 being that they get bigger than afs anyway cant wait to see u set it up good luck & have fun doin it!!!!!
I feel like the aggressive American cichlids in the 300 is your safest option. I don’t see the aggression changing much for your African cichlids with the upgrade but like you know, space can really help a fish’s behavior. Upgrading the Africans wouldn’t solve any of those issues you couldn’t solve in the 210g :)
Huge tank is going to be wonderful and I am very envious...lol Just one piece of info, I built a sump from a 20 gal long tank with the intake in the middle and the returns on the ends. Works great and keeps tank clean and stable. The only thing I didn't think of was the tank/sump need to be almost perfectly level or one end of the sump's water level will be higher than the other. I got mine close to dead level, but there is still a bit of difference in the two sides. I have baffles in my sump so if you use matten style sponge setup it won't mater as much. Only thing I had to do was put the ato in the correct end.
You mentioned the pump and the flow and the head. My Marineland 160 pumps 160 GPH all the way up to 6 ft. My point is your pump could very well be rated for 1500 or 2,000 GPH with a 6-ft head already. Some, most, quality pump manufacturers list their head in the specs. So you might not actually lose any GPH covering that distance.
Pj Aqua maintenance How you coming with that beautiful 300 gallon tank . What type or brand water pump you plan on using . I been using jebao Dc pump and hygger also . The funny thing they both the same . Check them out it’s funny.
Very nice ben. I know you're excited i would be! Just curious what are the dimensions. Thanks bro. I'm placing my side bet and say you'll be going with south Americans. P.s. is this the most tanks you've ever had?
Yes, I will be adding what are called "bulkheads" that will connect to pipes that go to the filter system under the tank (a 60 gallon "sump" system). It's like any other filter, just a lot bigger.
@@BenOchart but euro bracing is thick bracing around the edge, which provides enough support to not have center braces across the tank? Or am i wrong on this?
“A Square Acre of Storage” 😂😂😂 👍🏻👍🏻
Finally, someone caught the joke 🤣🤣🤣😀👍🏻
@@BenOchart Loved it 😂😂
She's arrived ! The relief when the tank was in place on the stand 💪👌👍
It was a tremendous relief. So many things that could gone wrong but it worked out perfectly. Whew 😅
I tell you what Ben other tank builders should take note of the corner bevel bracing excellent idea real professionals👍👍
Truly. Adds weight but make the tank a battleship!
Ben, can I say WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The adventure begins !!!!! :)
I'm saying WOW with you, thank you!
Woo-hoo 👏👏👏 Nice work getting that monster tank unloaded. That low iron glass is awesome. Beautiful tank. Sorry to hear of the loss of your Fusco.
Thanks Jon. He had something going on, still not sure what. Never got a sunken belly despite not eating. I hate mystery deaths but they do happen in this hobby.
@@BenOchart Very true
Beautiful 300 aquarium 💯
Wow..congrats on your new tank, very beautiful. I Appreciate your videos Ben, very informative and very relaxing, thank you for sharing.

Hermano, that's an awesome tank. I can't wait to see it up and running.
The big reason custom glass tanks are heavy, it’s because they are double based for strength.. nice looking monster tank Ben..👍
👍😎 Beautiful. Enjoy the process.
Sorry about the Fusco Ben😢

Beautiful tank! So well made. Thick glass. I want one!! but I don’t want to have to take out a second mortgage my house so I can afford it!

Good luck Brian. My wife is not that interested in fish but she encourages me and that's a big plus.
Your 300 is in place let the fun begin you’ve really stepped up your aquatic game since you’ve moved to Tennessee
Thank you. It really helps having a big community behind me and vendors like The Cichlid Shack and GlassCages helping out 😀
Bad ass tank ben
Tank looks enormous, the fish will love it. Looking forward to the build.
Ben you have some 🔥 Africans and keep you the great work 💪🏾💯
Thank you

Awesome Ben, thanks for sharing. Didn’t want any acrylic? Would have only needed two people with an acrylic.
True. I moved a 150 acrylic with one other guy in L.A. pretty easily.
Nice tank

I been using jebao Dc pump and hygger also . The funny thing they both the same . Check them out it’s funny.
I am envious Sweet Tank, Did you have to add more electrical outlets in your garage?
Yes. More AMPs too. I don't want to overload a circuit when a 1000 watt heater kicks in.
Peacocks and haps in the 300. South go in the 210!!!!
Use the 60G acrylic tank as an aquarium and invest in a seamless sump.
temping...
Oh and for a wave maker have you ever seen the jebao style, it’s a bar kind that has a broad range, pretty cool I have one on my tank
I like that style of wave maker. I was looking at what I think was called a Gyre or Ice Cap model with a lot of power.
Nice, yeah they put an adjustable wave that’s more widespread, and it’s pretty small looking from the side
I think the model number is something like jcp150
8:37 ish for why I am here :)
8:25. Miller Time!!!
Love the tank and sorry about the Fusco
Thank you Jerry. I wish I had given him a salt bath early on. In hindsight (always 20-20) I think he was constipated.
Great video, I asked about the rainbows, are they in hard or soft water ? Parameters?
PH is around 7 with a low KH, but very hard out of the tap.
@@BenOchart , I have dwarf rainbows, there in soft water, high kh 6-7ph.
Very nice ben. I know you're excited i would be! Just curious what are the dimensions. Thanks bro. I'm placing my side bet and say you'll be going with south Americans. P.s. is this the most tanks you've ever had?
The tank is 84”across, 33” front to back and 25” tall.
For a large tank I can thourougly suggest gyre pumps rather than just wave makers. My 500l tank has never looked so clean!
I’m looking into them. Is there one you recommend?
@@BenOchart I use a ReefWave 45 in my 500l, totally silent but NOT cheap!
You should turn the 300G into a planted community tank!
I admit that would look amazing but not likely.
What a awesome NANO tank for a Betta! but are you sure this new tank is big enough for one?
😄😄😄
what is the measurement of the 300 gallon tank
84” across, 33” front to back and 25” tall.
Wowza ❤️
I was going to ask if you wanted my 60 gallon back to use for that massive tank 😂
Can you drive it here? 🤣🤣🤣 How is Photoshop doing these days?
I have some kamaka rainbows as well, the more slender 1's in my collection Are females.
Good to know, thanks!
Sweet
Well water go through the whole thing that you can have pipes on it through it?
I meant to say it through the hose on top of the tank in the back.
Yes, I will be adding what are called "bulkheads" that will connect to pipes that go to the filter system under the tank (a 60 gallon "sump" system). It's like any other filter, just a lot bigger.
Hey Ben- I kept hitting the 👍 button, but it wouldn't highlight. 😪
That’s odd?
Sorry but isnt "euro bracing" just to be around the sides? That seems like just normal bracing?
It's also the glass you see framing the top.
@@BenOchart but euro bracing is thick bracing around the edge, which provides enough support to not have center braces across the tank? Or am i wrong on this?
I got a 6/2/4 300gal
It’s a great size
Can you film or at least montage the cutting the holes out of the stand?
Yes I will.
Ha så roligt ;)
tack, det ska jag
Instead of wasting that beautiful acrylic tank as a sump couldn't you go with 2 40 gallon separate sumps under there one for each side
Tempting idea...
That beta fish only 300 gallon will be nice
🤣🤣🤣
300 why didn’t you just go 500 that’s the problem with fish tanks they shrink overtime
1,000 gallons would have been sweet.
Just make it an marine tank... and getbrid of everything else..... not that hard
😄😄😄No
@@BenOchart it will be literally two or three weeks before all the freshwater stuff is gone.....
Please don’t stock it with african cichlids
do a nice Central or South american setup
