As always, you're "chat' is inspiring. Dont apologise for talking to much cos you dont. You are always informative, inspirational and entertaining. Thank you.
Ceri, thank you for sharing this. I play with watercolors, like a kid basically, and would love to do a better job. Thank you for showing us this book! I do believe it will change my child-approach into a more mature painter, and that's exciting!😊 You rock!!
I agree her book looks just what we all need! You will definitely not fail in this journey Ceri! You're well on your way. Thanks so much for giving us a peek at Katie's book. Your excitement is contagious ❤😂🎉
You can do this! Watercolor can feel like a cage, or like freedom. Depends on your expectations and goals. I love the freedom! 🙌 The book is beautiful. Lovely work. Paul Ruben Paints are very highly regarded in watercolor circles. Excellent quality and affordable. Keep going! I love what you are doing. ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this, I have been looking for a way to improve my watercolor. I took a watercolor class over 20 years ago but never did much with it. I am revisiting it now and this will be a great resource. Never stop "chatting", it is part of why I watch your videos.🙂
I just bought this book Ceri, it is beside my bed! It is stunning isn't it? She explains things so simply, I love it - Anyone prevaricating, get it, you won't be disappointed - 5 Stars!
I came back to say, at my senior center they have a weekly waterclass. Some excellent painters in my class. I learned so much. Plus you paint in a group.
Good evening dear Ceri, wonderful creations, you really are a true artist, even as a beginner in watercolour. The book is amazing and such a helpful tool for everyone. Thanks so much for sharing. Hugs and blessings ❤❤
Ceri, your funny. I did not realize how much there is to know about water colors. Love the landscape one to created, nice. Thank you for sharing, Ceri. :)
My father did only watercolor in his last years, he used masking ink, but you can also use white gouache (artistic not acrylic gouache), is opaque and you can add the whites after ). I’m sure you are going to show us great things Ceri, as usual.❤ thank you for share with us your findings
Thank you Ceri for the review of this book. Your journals are looking very nice and I am going to check that book out myself. Keep on keeping on!! Looks like I will be adding another watercolor book to my library.
Ceri, I believe you are too modest concerning your creative talent. I appreciate your projects and learn so much from your videos. I can only imagine what you discarded in your waste bin - oh to have been there to retrieve what you considered unworthy to keep. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this watercolor book.
I received this book as a gift after stating that Abstract was not for me. I just couldn’t do it. This book changed everything! I love it, it is packed with information and ideas that helped me grasp Abstract. My first project was “Bold Blocks”. I can’t wait for her 2nd book!
I just added her book to my cart. I also just subscribed to Carlos's channel. They both are amazing artists, as are you. I've watched some of your videos and admire you. I haven't done much with water colors, but want to learn. I love your paintings. They are awesome
Thanks for reviewing this book Ceri, I've been wanting it for a while and now I know I definitely need it, your paintings are amazing, I can't wait to see more. I've tried experimenting with sprinkling salt on when the paint is wet and it gives amazing textures, which has been a fun thing to play with, and different papers have different effects I discovered, thanks for another interesting video, I can't wait to see more. 😃
💜💜💜 Ceri, just a small FYI - if you lose white space, you can re-wet the dry paint and remove it with a dry brush or dab it off with a tissue, Q-tip etc. I am ALWAYS loosing my white spaces! Wet only the parts you want to bring back to white.
Hi Ceri. I have enjoyed looking at this book for months as I recover from shoulder surgery. I cannot wait to start the projects. Whenever there is white space within a work, once it’s dry I go over the white with my Posca pen, as my hand is never that steady. Thank you for this video. I just subscribed.
I have been working with the techniques in the book and am really enjoying them. Thinking about your travel journal, I’m taking a class in urban sketching. I’m currently learning perspective and need lots of practice 😊. Thanks as always Ceri.
What a fabulous book! I love the way it's laid out and has so many examples. Thank you so much for sharing. I need another hobby like I need a hole in my head but I am excited to see what you do with this!
I have looked at that book a while ago. You're right, it's an awesome book! Thank you for sharing and I look forward to the project that you do from the book! ❤
This is a wonderful book. I borrowed it from a friend a few times and then bought a copy for myself. The shared interests and paths of creativity between you and Rebecca is fascinating.
Im in the US and have her book. Im also learning watercolor but i did start right away with the idea of creating abstract painting. Good luck on your journey!! 😊
Hello Ceri, I would like to thank you very much for this book recommendation! I bought the eBook version at the weekend and had a look at it. A really great book! Now I'm working my way through Kate's instructions step by step - the weather here is cold, wet and autumnal at the moment. 🍂This book is just what I need at this time of year! Thank you for this inspiration! I had a long break from my watercolors and then played with my new acrylics and GelPress thanks to your videos. I so enjoy watching your videos and getting re-inspired. You are very motivating! Best regards, Maddi. 🥰
Wow! What a find! I bought watercolours to go on holiday this past summer and enjoyed playing with them; but there is that learning curve. Did some grungy washing for backgrounds in JJs. Tried more sketchy things with smaller brushes (playing) on holiday in the BnB on some 'proper' watercolour paper blew my mind! The difference with the paper has me really intrigued and wanting to play more. Going to look up the book now. Diolch yn fawr iawn! Thank you for sharing this and your process, darling! 🥰
After finding your video the other day. I ordered the book before you even showed what it looked like inside, Its coming today 11/15th and can't wait to sit down tonight and enjoy reading it and trying out some of the things with paints. Thanks for all your wonderful creativity and those fun leaves. I have been starting a Nature journal and even made a little flower press that this you tuber made. "The Nature Diaries" if you haven't seen her here in the States you'll really enjoy how she is making her pages in her nature journal. I'm going to paint my first Nuthatch from my feeder. Bonnie from NJ USA
Oh Ceri, I so hear you about watercolor woes. I’ve been trying it for about three years and it is endless what you have to know. Because of having to paint from light to dark I tried switching to acrylics so I could do it the other way around. That was horrifying. It’s all plastic!! A a huge mess! Now, like you I’m trying to use masking fluid or tape to save the whites. Or use gouache at the end to bring them back.. Thanks!
Your paintings look great, Ceri! I’m also on the watercolor journey and have found Lindsay Weirich aka the frugalcrafter to be an awesome teacher! I did her watercolor class and learned so much. She just created a line and wash botanical class that I got but haven’t started. I believe she’s teaching that with the same watercolors as you mentioned - the ones you previously reviewed. She’s over on teachable, which has a fairly easy user interface if you’re interested. Look forward to seeing your journey!
Hey Ceri. Have you watched Denise Love’s videos? She does watercolor painting but very abstract. I have put that book you recommended in my wish list. Maybe someone will get me it for Christmas. Have a wonderful day. I love watching your videos. 💙
Get those papers out of the bin! You can rinse the paint off if they are transparent colors. Even staining colors may give you a new start. Plus there is the other side of the paper.
Ok well that the book in my Amazon cart - seems to be on special at the moment. If you have a moment I’d be very grateful if you could pop a link to Mario that you mentioned. Thanks again
Lindsay Weirich(the frugal crafter) has just released a class on watercolor botanicals, mostly flowers. I’ve found her to be very down to earth about techniques and supplies, very responsive to students, and very encouraging. She’s also very into mixed media, so incorporating pencils, gouache, inks, stamps, what have you.
Hi! Can you provide the full name and info for the crazy birds artist. I got Patricia but my hearing is poor and I couldn't hear the rest of it. Also I LOVE this book. I just got I this week!
I first saw Patricia do the crazy birds in a live for P.M. Artist Studio, I’ve had a look but I can’t find the original live as it was at least a year ago. I did have Patricia’s permission to film my own version of the technique and here is my video of it as a topper for a postcard. ua-cam.com/video/CKRabyPnhq0/v-deo.htmlsi=XU6tNovdxam4jH7n
Masking fluid may work for you. I came to realize that I do not watercolor as most people do. I fill my paper with color. There is not that much true white in nature. I tend to paint sunsets and green summer scapes, etc. I paint like I am using acrylic. So don't stress, enjoy.
Great Video. I bought this book a while ago but have been slow to get to it. I’m going to pull it out quickly now. A quick question - Are the crazy/funky birds stamps or stencils? By Who? Thanks.
They’re neither, they’re just blobs of watercolour and pen lines. If you start watching this video at approximately 3:30 you’ll see me create one of the birds. ua-cam.com/video/CKRabyPnhq0/v-deo.htmlsi=Lt1qoWELlnPHMcKu
The book looks beautiful and will be another one for my list! For botanical watercolour painting, have you watched Harriet de Winton on the "de Winton Paper Co" channel? She takes you through step by step and her main focus is botanicals. I was following her free online course and then went off down another rabbit hole because I saw another art technique on UA-cam!

Thank you Myriam.
People want things for free. It is sometimes disappointing. The art takes your heart and time. ❤
Your nature book is amazing ❤
Thanks so much for sharing! Just ordered 2 copies of this book - one for me and one for a friend. 😊
Wonderful
Thank you Ceri for the review of this book. Your journals are looking very nice and I am going to check that book out myself. Keep on keeping on!! Looks like I will be adding another watercolor book to my library.

I rarely use watercolor and then only for background washes. Thanks for sharing and possibly inspiring this old lady to explore a little more.
Beautiful book Ceri. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I love how you work to build this community, thank you for the introduction to other artists.
Any time, thank you

What a great book…thanks for sharing!
I never understand why white has to show. The beautiful way you lighten it seems much better.
Thank you
I have been wanting to purchase the very book, thank you for previewing it for us. It’s on my Christmas wish list.
Wonderful
You are hiding your light under a basket! Keep at it . Your work is lovely.
Thank you, I will
I have this book and love it. I am in the beginner stage and thoroughly enjoy the exercises in this book.
Wonderful
To go along with your book, you might want to watch Diane Antoine. Some of the illustrations in the book look like the work Diane does in her videos.
❤Thank you.

Ceri: it seems to me, by what I saw, you’re doing quite well. Thanks for the recommendation. Carol from California
Thank you! Can't wait to see what you make!
Have fun with Watercolor! It's my favorite medium. Workshops are a great way to learn.
Ooh yes...I also have Kate's book 😍😍😍
