Hi David. Wow what can I say. Fantastic size layout, just subscribed to you, can't wait to see your progress. Love the big boy in any scale. Just seen one in O gauge really awesome. And those rake of carriages brilliant. You are so lucky, we went to Norway didn't see the northern lights.😒 I've only got a 10x10ft layout love to have a big layout like yours. Thank you for sharing. Delph Junction (Pete)
The Big Boy would be impressive in O scale. The first iteration of this layout was in a 3m x 3m room in my old shed. The only part that remains unchanged from it are the peninsula and the coal tipple area. We feel very fortunate to see the northern lights, apparently it’s been a very good season for them.
How are things down under(from Grease" movie..couldnt resist) Love your cat,and your layout. The Big Boy really articulates around those curves. I cant tell by the camera angle but it looks like a big elevation change around your soon to be lake. I worked as a mechanical rider on UPs heritage fleet for 2 years and rode or worked on every car they have. Unfortunately I never rode behind 4014. Love Union Pacific. Cheers.
YAY! Been looking for a new NRR update video. Glad you are OK. I've finished drywalling in my loft, so, the layout build is getting closer for me. A "Bethungra Spiral" (AKA Ness River Spiral) is still in the plan.
Be heading to Wangaratta myself, be good to meet you, little bit farther for me from Sydney, my only other convention was the 1st one in Granville back in 88', layouts coming along nicely mate 👍
Thanks Bob, It was worth the wait. After my experience with the other brand Big Boy I mentioned in the video I was very sour but this thing is awesome.
WOW that is just amazing!!!! Youve made so much progress, lots of amazing scenery. Ill have to look to see if Ive missed any videos, BUT i hope you will show some HOW-TOs on your rock/mountains. Particularly the flater cliffs in the first 30 seconds - that looks amazingly like the sheer rock faces in Pennsylvania. How did you make those?
I use extruded foam sheets cut to shape. I then use plaster to cover and texture them and then paint and weather with powders. I don’t really do how to videos. Most of my videos are pretty raw and just a catch up on what I’ve done. I will have to do a bit more rock around the ripple area eventually so I could maybe do one then.
Fantastic as always. Interesting information, there will be a steam locomotive, Empress 2816 ,leaving here in Calgary next week to celebrate the merger of CP & KS. The journey will traverse Canada-US-Mexico. This will be the first steam powered passenger train to do this in a single trip.
FAB! looks amazing still David... just better and better. Super elevation looking good mate up the spiral... definitely worth the extra effort..... Not going to comment on the kato Big Boy with DCC+ sound as I haven't got one yet 🤐... Did I see a UP Big Blow turbine in the back ground?.... givvit a run next time for us pretty please? Like the sound of the undercut rock for the lake, will hide that the rock is removable quite nicely I think... Trains look amazing and you also looking really well, which is great to see.... thanks for the update and the usual UK greetings 🙂
Hey Tim, Good to hear from you. It did take a lot of tinkering but it certainly been worth it. Not quite done yet but a lot closer. I love the Big Boy, 844 and 4449. Steam locos are just cool 😎
Awesome Layout !!! Congrat's to you :) BTW i have also the same big boy with excursion sets and i'm waiting for the diesel loco. I have a question: how do you do to match speed on the two dcc engines ? Or do you have a link to an explanation to do that ? I hope you can help me to do that correctly... (sorry for my english, i'm a french guy ;) )
I speed match them using ops mainline programming on my DT602. I set them at the same speed on the throttle and then use the speed and trim CVs to match them as best as I can by eye. I don’t have JRMI or anything like that. One tip I read was to match the faster loco to the slower loco which is what I had to do with these two.
Hi David , glad to see you hope you’re doing well. The big boy looks good running on the layout. I was just wondering a couple of days ago haven’t heard from David lately and then there you are. Looks like you have been busy on the layout. I was wondering if you had lavation on the layout and how you did it. I do like the idea of putting in a water feature. Extending the sidings at the coal mine looks good. You have made some good progress keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing. Have a good weekend. 😎😎 👍
Thanks Tommy, It’s surprising how much gets done when you just keep chipping away at it. I’ve tried putting elevation all the larger curves on the layout. Some still needs tweaking.
Thanks for taking the time to watch my video. Bertie was a rescue, his name at the rescue was just Bert and his friend their was named Earnie, not quite P G Wodehouse but still iconic 😆
Big Boy looks great on those big sweeping curves , my favorite steam locomotive, i want one but went for the ABA RIO GRANDE with 8 carriages, lol now im jealous 😊😊😊😎😎😎😎

The cat in the box is a nice scenery addition!!!😂
Hey Mike,
Bertie the cat loves train room time, it’s just me and him, no other animals or people 😃
A fantastic layout and a great Loco and Cat. Let me know if you are ever in Perth.
I haven’t been to Perth for about 7 years. I am overdue for a visit to family and friends.
nice work on the helix. rock quarry, or large lake, will look awesome.. have fun with the big boy, she sure is a beast of a loco
It’s very cool. I’ll have to start tree production again.
Look forward to meeting you at Wangaratta, going to be me first N Scale convention since the first one at Granville in 88'
Nice. Layout is really coming along. Large curves really look great. Ya done good!
Thanks mate, it’s a long road but getting there.

It is fairly solid grade at about 2%, being on a curve it makes it a big harder for the locos.

2:12. . .are you sure you're not building the Cat Mountain and Santa Fe?

@@avlisk ha, once it has scenery it will look quite different. I’m thinking Williams Loop on the Feather River Route.
Looking great and good to see you ok. Take care Kevin
Cheers Kevin.
bloody awesome layout mate, its looking amazing like always

I’m looking forward to it too Eric. See you there 👍
The trees on the upper level against the wall really look good.
Cheers, I’ll need to start making more for the rest of the loop.
Kaiju Cat! Good to hear from you. Layout looks great. Big Boy in the house 🎉🎉.
Thanks, it was worth the wait.

Very nice layout I can’t wait to see it completed
That is a long way off I’m afraid 😀
very cool you told people you are going to the n scale convention,, I just did a live stream on that very topic
I’ll take a look 👍

The “Cat Controller” 😉
Love the layout.
Cheers, thanks for taking a look.
Great video, my first time here! As I cat lover, I think Bertie is adorable and so chill. I assume you’re a P.G. Wodehouse fan?
Thanks for taking the time to watch my video. Bertie was a rescue, his name at the rescue was just Bert and his friend their was named Earnie, not quite P G Wodehouse but still iconic 😆

Nice. Greetz to the cat
He’s a good boy, most of the time.
Looks great
Thanks!

Rio Grande is pretty iconic too. I reckon it would look great on your layout.
@@nessriverrailroad1299 i was torn , but i just don't have the big radius you have 😊😊😊😊
@aussiefrenchman-hobbytable9960 I am fortunate to have a bit of space.
Shamalamadingdong!!!
i have cats too but they in my train room
Cats are great little monsters
It looks like the front engine on 4014 is slipping
It does look like that in certain spots doesn’t it. Weird. Maybe I need to beef up 4015 a bit more.
🤠🖐🚂
your layout dcc what brand ?
Digitrax
That why it's ahobby
Very much so, I’m here for fun and the therapy working on the layout gives me.
Cats and N scale don't mix. 🤣
Getting his fur out of the truck contacts is a bit annoying.
