@@thejoanaalves Sure, I will share my own recommendations with you. -Firstly, I will recommend taking a walk in the city of Fredericia. "Voldene", is the old fortifications in the city that you can walk on. I went there often with my parents when I was a kid. Lots of plaques and infostands to tell of the historical significance, and I remember it as a serene, peaceful and delightful place. They are nature preserves where you can see lots of nature. I've been to "Mols Bjerge" myself, not the other two, but I've only heard good things about them. -If you get the opportunity to go to any of the smaller islands, you should take it. Many have more undisturbed nature than in Jylland or the bigger islands, personally, Im very fond of Læsø while my girlfriend loves Bornholm. -Lastly, I will recommend you to go to the beaches on the western side of Jutland to enjoy the wind blowing in from the sea and the seemingly endless stretches of sand. Popular places to get to are "Blåvand", "Henne Strand" or, a little further north, "Skallerup Klit" Im sorry I dont know of any places on either Fyn or Sjælland...born and raised in Jylland, I've mostly been to places over here.
@@thejoanaalves Oh, 1 more recommendation to see something a little different. "Tørskind grusgrav" is a place in nature with lots of great sculptures made of stone, wood and metal. I'd forgotten all about it, untill just now 🙄
When writing a parking notice it is mandatory to watch the vehicle for seven minutes. The darkness in winter annoys anybody. You can find a decent meal at €30. Best fruit and vegetables are found at immigrant shops.
@karsten27027: Thanks for the info! The seven-minute rule for parking notices is definitely something to keep in mind. I’ll keep the immigrant shops in mind also for fruits and vegetables. Appreciate the tips! Eheheh :)
Dunno if you live close to Copenhagen or not, but they have at the GreenSquare, Markethalls Nørreport called Torvehallerne in danish,, a fish-seller that prepare all kind of stuff as you would have it, i took a squid back home and they removed the skeleton for me, they Sea-bag and all have those rarities you never see, they also have fresh oysters to be served with bubbles while you there and a place to sit, a pricy enterprise but well worth it
The first 3 are pretty much "Copenhagen Problems"... As you go west, enforcing parking rules becomes kind of an optional thing. If you go as far as Herning it's quite easy to find free unlimited parking. There's simply no space for cars in Copenhagen. About handling fish, again if you go to the areas where most of our fish are caught, you can get good old-fashioned "butchers' service", but dont expect it in the supermarkets where most people, including the staff, are city dwellers that hardly know where meat comes from. And the slow drivers you complain about are "left lane campers", they are indeed annoying, especially because it tempts other drivers to do an illegal right side overtake. But it is, again, something that you only see around the larger cities and the hell of a fork-job the motorway does between Fredericia and Vejle. People do it because the traffic is tight and they're afraid to be caught in a lane that forks to a different direction than where they wanna go. 😐 Not ideal, and while Danes are pretty similar to Germans, we don't quite have the same discipline while driving, sorry. Anyway, thanks for some constructive critique, there's plenty of YT videos that make it sound like DK is an utopia beyond belief... it's not perfect here, but we manage 😉 Cheers
Yeah, it's dark, and restaurants (and taxis) are expensive... because the staff kinda want to be able to pay their rent... For fresh fruit, try the dedicated green grocers, like the ones to the west side of the central station... but we do live in a cooler climate.. so we can't grow mangos or oranges locally, they are usually imported from southern Europe, picked a little too early so they won't spoil during transport.
Thanks for sharing your perspective! It’s interesting to hear how things can differ so much across Denmark. I appreciate the insights and context. No place is perfect, but it’s always great to learn more about the different areas 😊
You can get fresh and good fruit in denmark. But if you want the best quality buy fruit/greens native to denmark. If you buy them in season and are willing to pay a few kroners more you can get very tasty fruit. Great video, hope i get to visit portugal some day. Take care.
It’s illegal to drive slowly in the left lane- you must keep right, and although there are often campaigns about it in order to make drivers remember the rules, many people still drive slowly in the left lane. I understand your frustration about that 👍

@@thejoanaalves You're welcome. You get vitamin D for free, when the sun shines and you don't cover your body. So allow some naked skin. In winter you may have to take it as a supplement.
Need to go the a real fishshop for that service, supermarkeds in Denmark are mostly selfservice. Meny is the only supermarked that provide that service in Denmark, (some Føtex might still have the service aswell).
But most supermarkets do have fish packed in small closed trays, and those fish do only need to be cleaned with water. Unfortunately, it is only 2-3 types of fish they sell that way.
I so agree on the slow drivers, we actually have a law saying you need to stay to the right when driving, but very very few danes follow this law. If it were up to me every dane should have renewed their drivers license every 5-10 years. and the worst ones are those needing to turn left 10 km down the road and just hugs the left lane going very slow.
I do think that no matter where you go in the world, there will always be things to like and dislike. However, I'm really glad you're enjoying your life here.
Lovely video. 😊If you live in an area where there is resident parking and you receive a parking fine while you are moving, you can in most cases get the parking fine refunded at your local maintenance office, if it is public parking, apply for a refund at the municipality, you will not be refunded if you just pay, ask for a refund, it costs nothing. As for fruit, buy Danish Cox Orange apples when they hit the stores, they are winter apples with a lot of flavor, just a recommendation. And just one question, where is your 4-legged co-host?
Hello! Thanks for the tips! I didn’t know that and it could really be useful! Amazing 😍 Oh, how sweet of you to notice that Byte wasn’t here! Haha, to be honest, we changed sofas, and he doesn’t like this new one as much as the old one 😂 he’s in the process of getting used to it 🤭
@@thejoanaalves Maybe refunded is the wrong word, canceled is probably more correct, because you don't pay it, you go to the maintenance office and ask if it can be cancelled. I have sat on a residents' board and seen the contract between the property and the parking control, the property office can cancel a parking fine, but is not something they do if it happens repeatedly. When moving, it is something else, you would prefer not to welcome new residents with a parking fine. ☺
I hate parking rules too...not always transparent and too greedy. We eat too little fish but you may get the service in a professional fish shop but few of those left. And many Danes have bad traffic discipline...Germans are better. Well dark winters are also a nuisance too us, but better than Northern Scandinavia. Low price goes with low salary, Denmark is an expensive country because of the standard of living and the Welfare system that needs a lot of taxation. You can find good quality local fruit...but since the climate is cold much fruit is imported from Spain and the pick it before it is ripe to let it last longer, sorry that is mostly climate and logistics. We would like better fruit too. 🙂🙂
I hear you-parking rules can be frustrating and it’s a shame there aren’t more good fish shops. Hopefully, the fruit situation will improve as logistics evolve! 🙂🙂
Hazard ligths are not to be used during/trying to legalize illegal Parking, so you may have got a - Fine for that also 😄! And as a visitor to Portugal I searched high and low for a "Decent Bottle" of Port, which was only to be found in the most common versions and not at all in the many Special Types I had at home. I sems that all the good stuff had been exported to the UK and to Denmark? Even a visit to Grahams in Lisbon didn't offer any! Finn. Denmark
Thanks for the tip about hazard lights! Sometimes the more touristy spots don’t have the hidden gems. It’s worth searching a bit more, like at smaller, local wineries, to get that authentic experience! :)
@@thejoanaalves We had a lunch in a Farm with huge wooden barrels, which were only for Show, as no one knew how to maintain them anymore! They had the actual wine kept in stainless steel tanks
Nice video Joaninha! Although I eat fruit regularly I don’t pay enough attention to it because it’s something that we have available and with high quality in general, but I feel your pain and I think the I will suffer too in the same situation!
Exactly, Sofia! But I understand that the climate here is very different and not as conducive to agriculture as it is in Portugal. Most of the fruit available here is imported as well. I’ll just have to enjoy all the fruit I can when I go to Portugal 🥰
Apperently the portuguese share much Dna with people of Galicia, wiich have their self-governingship in spain and a language more close to Portugal.. Are these the ones that are depicted in the famous Asterix comic , cause i always wondered?
Nice question eheheh. The Asterix comics, the characters depicted are inspired by the Gauls, an ancient Celtic people who lived in what is now France, Belgium, and parts of surrounding countries. The Gauls in Asterix are not specifically meant to represent the Portuguese or Galicians but are a general representation of the Celtic tribes of that era :)

Oh, how sweet of you to notice that Byte wasn’t here!
@@thejoanaalves Still several days from Spain so you will need a local greenhouse with a good south wall 🙂
You mean, like finding a fish shop.
Delivery food is expensive as well? Eg. Uber Eats
Yessss, a lot! Ahahah here we have Wolt! It’s basically the same thing but 🤑🤑
Apperently the portuguese share much Dna with people of Galicia, wiich have their self-governingship in spain and a language more close to Portugal..
@@thejoanaalves Thx that make sense, since the comics are French also i later found out., is there a movie from Portugal you guys would suggest?
thx for checking this😊
For the moment there's nothing i dislike about Portugal, they are super-friendly as a whole.... but then.... i really haven't tried it🙃🙃😇
@@0cosmic Well, it's not a movie, but a series! You have to watch 'Turn of the Tide' on Netflix! It's a true story about a peculiar situation that happened on one of our Portuguese islands, in the Azores! Not everything in the series is real (characters and such), but the story itself is! It's super fun and interesting! :)
@@thejoanaalves im totally on it, i suppose i have something for my next evenings from now.
a good time to you and yours
You will love it!!! 😊
Immagine going to a place where u cant grow certain fruits, and complain thay dont have certain fresh fruits ...
Paradox, haha! But as I mentioned, I was comparing it to what I was used to in Portugal :)
@@thejoanaalves ur forgiven :D
Thank uuuu 🫣🫣🥰
Funny you complain on darkness in Denmark come to Norway and try it here, then Denmarks darkness is nothing;)
Hahaha, I would love to visit Norway in the winter! I went to Senja during the midnight sun season and fell completely in love with the little bit of your country that I was able to experience
When you are unloading your car, you are not parking, you are stopping. Parking rules do not apply.
That's a good point! :o
4:38 Pros and C_nts.... Hahaha well thats one way of putting it
did I said something wrong? :o
@@thejoanaalves Hahaha not really, sorry i'm being a bit naughty actually so I'll happily delete my comment if you want. But I'm actually joking how much the way you say 'cons' sounds like a very rude word starting with c 😎😅😆
@@rerooar Ahhh, I get it now!!! My English accent sometimes plays tricks on me xD
Goodbye.
