my father landed a job as a building engineer in a small municipality, which sparked a carreer long learning of skills. at the same time environmental law was strengthened, which meant that the municipalities as primary institution had to up their game. from being a builing engineer, he developed him self in to an expert in environmental law and practices, leading to him teach that subject at the municipality union's own trade school. a far cry from the bridge building engineer from the late 1960'ies and early 1970'ies.
the bark of certain types of leaf trees (mainly book, oak lark and birch) emits a group og chemical compounds that strengthen the immune system and reduces stress. so taking a simple walk in a forrest or just at small plot of land with these trees is really healthy.
Three important "ingredients" are a social "safetynet" that insures that even if you loose your job, you wont loose your home and 2: universal healthcare. If you get sick and need to go to the hospital its "free" (well, payd through taxes, but you wont go bankrupt). And 3: most important: Trust. We really trust each other and our government, to do the best for the country, and Denmark also rank highest as the country with the least corruption.
Danish Expat Board 🤣here. Thanks for the nice words about our Country ❤ ! Your accepted and can stay 👍☺👍 ! PS: The Check from the Danish Tourist Board is probably on it´s way 🙂
Ahahahah, thank you so much! It's truly a wonderful country to be in! And if the check from the Danish Tourist Board is on its way, I’m definitely not complaining! 😊 Thanks again!!! :)
Another great video Joaninha 😀 Removing the first point regarding the functioning of public services and hygge, I believe the remaining factors would not justify such a large gap between Denmark and Portugal on the happiness scale, especially since they are also present here 😅
Completely agree with you 😂 That’s why I was so surprised when I saw Portugal ranked 55th. Another factor, which I didn’t mention in the video, is the significantly higher salaries here. Although the cost of living is also higher, it doesn’t compare to the imbalance seen in Portugal :/
Thank You. As a Dane I must admit though that Hygge was a Norwegian Word but they never found out to use the Concept, which meant that Danes had to do it for them! Finn. Denmark
LOL ! Your right ! We actually bribe the judges with "finish saunas" and "Danish Pastry" 🤣 ! Works fine. One year, Denmark is number one, the next year Finland is 👍❤👍 !
Hygge is not a secret rly. It literally translates to "Cosy"... However! where foreginers get confused is how we can/will also use "hygge" as a verb and not just an adjective, is where I think ppl cant "translate" it. You enter someones crib in US: And its very cosy inthere so you say, "oh its so cosy inhere" (åh, det er så hyggeligt herinde)... But you can also say: "I am cosy'ing atm" (Jeg hygger atm), but it jsut means "I am BEING cosy atm... So all danes and all english speaking ppl who keeps saying this shit. Clearly doesnt understand either language. Its not a unique to denmark concept. Its just the fact we use it as a verb sometimes that makes it differ from other languages. But the action/concept itself all and any race/cultures know/are doing.
Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate the way you explained the difference in usage! It's fascinating how such a simple word can carry so much meaning🥰
@@thejoanaalves Well to further the explanation (to not sound like a rant towards foreigners lol), Id like to point out, Its bc of the way we speak in Denmark (so its our fault, not foreigners), as you prob figured out/heard already here, we dont speak the way our grammar dictates. Which is, to me, highly "wtf?!". We should update either our grammar OR our speech. Or we risk losing the true danish language like other nations are struggling with atm.
The ones who have gotten more since the 80's are the top 1%. So maybe that's where you should look for the money you believe is taken away from you unjustly in taxes. And not so much the money that go to people who actually need help.
I understand your perspective, and it’s a valid concern about high taxes. However, it's important to consider the broader context, where taxes are used to fund public services that benefit everyone, like healthcare, education, and social safety nets. :)
Denmark is without a doubt a fantastic country to live in! Great video!
btw, everything works except what doesn't 😅
I know… 😂😂😂😂

What an evolution! People are truly inspiring :)

If you loose your job, just go and re-tighten it
Thank you for sharing this! I completely agree with your points too :)

The secret is absence of corruption. Nothing more - nothing less.
Greetings from Denmark!
Yess! I also agree :)

What's Denmark hiding? Extreme taxes. Makes those who take from others happy, more than 50%, makes the rest of us providing feel like idiots.
