    In a parking lot they have to watch the car, for 5 minutes before they are allowed to write a ticket but sometimes the companies hire foreigners to do this job or simply dont educate their employees enough on the rules. Dont know if it's intentional to get extra money from illigal tickets or what, but I've seen it often 😞 About the restaurant prices, I think that is (partly) to promote healthy homemade cooking as food in a restaurant is usually all about the taste. Denmark has a big culture of cooking at home, and eating out is a luxury. Many fruits are hard to grow in Denmark outside of a greenery and so, many have to be imported, thats why they're not as fresh. On the other hand, we have good soil for grain and vegetables.

    A lot of the myths were true once upon a time but maybe not so much today. No capitol of any country is spotless. There will always be trash here and there in any major city, even in cities like Copenhagen, Singapore etc. However, Copenhagen is definitely a much cleaner city today compared to what it was when I was a child. When I was a child, you would definitely not try to jump into the harbor. The entire harbor front back then were full of industries such as a shipyard and factories. Baby are indeed left outside shops in strollers but this was much more common when I was a child (many, many years ago). There has always been plenty of traffic in Copenhagen and there have been plans of trying to minimize cars and heavy vehicles in the old city center for many years. The winter weather in Denmark has changed a lot over the years. 50 years ago, the winters were definitely colder than they are today and the summers were not necessarily as warm as they can be today. Climate change is definitely a thing. Copenhagen experiences a lot more travelers today compared to before. That has had both some positive and negative influences on the city. Some tighter rules for renting out apartments to tourists may be in the cards since this has started to cause some problems in Copenhagen in much the same manner as so many other places around the world. Tourism is a good thing but it needs to be balanced. If tourism starts to negatively affect the lives of local citizens, the tourism needs to be reigned in a bit, otherwise visitors will suddenly not feel so welcome anymore.

      YT is distributed over a vast number of servers and they can't all be updated at the same time. A comment left on one server might take hours to propagate throughout the system. This in turn means that if you at one point get your channel information from one server you might see a comment and if you for some reason next time get your information from another server, that server might not have gotten that comment yet and won't show it. This is a oversimplified explanation but technical issues are way to difficult for me to explain in a comment. Thank you so much, I’m glad you liked the video! 😊 As for Portugal: A common one is that Portugal is always warm and sunny-while we do get a lot of sun, winters can be quite rainy and cold, especially in the north! Also, many people think that Portugal and Spain are almost identical, but in reality, Portugal has its own unique language, customs, and cultural traditions that are quite distinct from Spanish 😀

      Funny that you mention that ahaha, when it comes to language, there’s kind of a rivalry between Portuguese and Spanish people. Even though they are different languages, most of the time we can understand each other. However, if you go to Spain and speak Portuguese, the Spanish will tell you they don’t understand a word 😂 Whenever I go to Spain, I prefer to speak English because if I speak a mix of Portuguese and Spanish, they’ll just pretend they don’t get it 😂 In Portugal, we don’t have that issue with Spanish speakers as much, but we also don’t like when the two languages are confused 😂 (I mean I don’t mind ahahah, mas a lot of portuguese people do 🫣)

    The high prices are a consequence of the Danish welfare state, I guess. And high wages. When you pay a lot in a restaurant, e.g., it is also because waiters get a fixed salary, in contrast to other countries, where may survive on tips. As for the darkness, remember to get checked for vitamin D deficit. Take vitamin D in the dark months. And be certain to get some for free in summer. I.e. the sun is a natural source of that.

    Apperently the portuguese share much Dna with people of Galicia, wiich have their self-governingship in spain and a language more close to Portugal.. Are these the ones that are depicted in the famous Asterix comic , cause i always wondered?

    • @thejoanaalves
      @thejoanaalves Місяць тому

      Nice question eheheh. The Asterix comics, the characters depicted are inspired by the Gauls, an ancient Celtic people who lived in what is now France, Belgium, and parts of surrounding countries. The Gauls in Asterix are not specifically meant to represent the Portuguese or Galicians but are a general representation of the Celtic tribes of that era :)

      @@0cosmic Well, it's not a movie, but a series! You have to watch 'Turn of the Tide' on Netflix! It's a true story about a peculiar situation that happened on one of our Portuguese islands, in the Azores! Not everything in the series is real (characters and such), but the story itself is! It's super fun and interesting! :)

    It’s illegal to drive slowly in the left lane- you must keep right, and although there are often campaigns about it in order to make drivers remember the rules, many people still drive slowly in the left lane. I understand your frustration about that 👍

    I hate parking rules too...not always transparent and too greedy. We eat too little fish but you may get the service in a professional fish shop but few of those left. And many Danes have bad traffic discipline...Germans are better. Well dark winters are also a nuisance too us, but better than Northern Scandinavia. Low price goes with low salary, Denmark is an expensive country because of the standard of living and the Welfare system that needs a lot of taxation. You can find good quality local fruit...but since the climate is cold much fruit is imported from Spain and the pick it before it is ripe to let it last longer, sorry that is mostly climate and logistics. We would like better fruit too. 🙂🙂

    I so agree on the slow drivers, we actually have a law saying you need to stay to the right when driving, but very very few danes follow this law. If it were up to me every dane should have renewed their drivers license every 5-10 years. and the worst ones are those needing to turn left 10 km down the road and just hugs the left lane going very slow.

    I am danish and I hate all the things you mention too, except for winter darkness. I have had it all my life and it is part of living here. Other than that. I agree completely. Parking ticketing is a sick form of business. Slow drivers in the left lane is predominantly a problem on Zealand where they all think they are Lewis Hamilton and restaurants are totally overrated in Denmark. I clean my own fish, so; supermarkets in general are not good. But other than that, I am happy and content.
