- Join me at The Lonely Mountain as we work to frame the roof of our 12x18 cabin. This is an end of school year trip for my son and I. And this was the last day before we had to leave! I am excited to teach him the ways of the builder! Thanks for watching!

Be careful up there Josh! You have people that care about you. We need more content and cant afford for you to be on crutches! Great work showing what it really takes to stick frame a roof with no lifts or scaffolds! Cheers buddy!
Thank you as always Jim! You are a voice of reason for sure!
yep, i'm gonna build the loft floor first. my cabin is 12x16. the loft could be 12x12 or maybe the full ceiling with a trap door. not sure yet but i think i wanna do the 12/12 pitch also. i guess that makes the peak almost six feet high.
Nice job.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you for this upload and I’m only asking to figure out my own build, ceiling joist at base of rafters and collar ties are not being used with a ridge board, is this standard? Thank you for the content
It gets ceiling joists on half of it as a loft in a later video, more then enough to prevent outward push...
If you built the loft first you could have walked on that.
You are totally right about that, at least on an 8ft length of the 18ft distance : )
But I really wanted to see and feel the space before commiting to the loft. And it needed to attach to a completed gable end, which I could not frame without the ridge beam in. At least that was my thinking, thanks for watching and commenting Mike!
