    This book is Awesome! I love the Lean-To-Shed the most (page 98). The plan ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR is to attach it to the back of my brick house. I also like how they walk you through the many different steps of construction, which is important for the less experienced like me.

    Jamie's thing about the beam standing like the tree actually sounded legit

    • @ChrisDarjany
      @ChrisDarjany 2 роки тому +5

      It actually is legit. Japanese carpenters do it. Also, dropping the post will probably help it stay straighter over time. This can be done to stabilize wood when building furniture, table lees, etc… why not an 8X8?

    • @jennifurzoe1302
      @jennifurzoe1302 2 роки тому +2

      @@ChrisDarjany I heard when they cut by handsaw that the teeth pull the wood towards them to become closer with it.. I know I run my hacksaw blades backwards and it works for me.

    Watching you guys again after a long break (been busy) is just so nice. It's great to see everyone doing well; new bionics, new belts, and a cool new build. Keep it rolling boys. It's always a pleasure.
    And that bit about the post being the "right way up"? Yeah, he isn't wrong. See, end grain not only wicks water but also draws it up through capillary action. If you were building a post and beam in an old-school style with posts landing directly upon stone, wicking and drawing moisture is something that you would do well to avoid, right? So you flip your posts.

Humping all that lumber , 2x10 and 2x12 by hand. Makes you into pretty good shape for sure. Now that I am older, the young guys get to do the grunt work. All fun still.

In the old days, workers were scare that knew how to frame, and most of the time you were pulling 2x12 rafter up yourself, ouch, back attack. You brothers have paid your dues building with your Dad, and now can enjoy the reputation, and money that goes into building in custom locations. Hat off to you.
