After the second pick, LSV can easily say something like "Well... good... I've already got the best card on the cube..." and see zero debate in the chat :D
You should google "Black Lotus"
"whats it like to have two pieces of power?" as he drafted time walk and sol ring 🤣 never change LSV
Two Vintage cube vids in one day? What a lovely Friday!
Damn was hoping for the lecture type video like the top 50 list
Who passes a Sol Ring?!
Someone who opens Lotus and is feeling frisky, would be my guess.
I was thinking the same; I guess they opened Ancestral
I had a 3rd pick Sol Ring yesterday. I assume that Black Lotus and Time Walk were in the pack or someone made a serious mistake.
Someone who opens lotus/crypt
Maybe took Black lotus or was afk
I know it didn't end up mattering, but at the end of the last game, can't you attack with the Breeding Pool since it will be a 7/7 from the Krasis.
Ah I was hoping this would be more of a podcast form. Would love to just hear you go over what you think the changes are, and if they were good or bad.
Still going to watch this one tonight anyway.
Unruly Krasis + Dreadhorde Arcanist seems like a sweet combo
doesn't work unfortunately, you have to target the instant/sorcery before the krasis' triggered ability resolves
absolutely vicious, great content
i am floored because this is the third time i have seen LSV being PASSED a sol ring, all respect to his drafting ability, as he is the GOAT of vintage cube
The real genius in cube is to both open well and be passed to by the person who opens two pieces of power! 😆
First recorded video of LSV pulling power
1:40 You can hear Reid Duke's heart shatter into pieces. Funny to see how different two pros' opinions are on the same card
"Survival, I don't think that card should be in the cube, generally."
I mean I get that it's not a hugely generally-powerful card, but it's kind of the cornerstone of black green reanimator?
Which you may think of as the weakest reanimator archetype, but it's my personal favorite when it goes well. My best game with it from a couple years ago was turn one mox+survival, turn two discard some random thing to fetch woodfall primus, discard woodfall primus to fetch griselbrand, reanimate woodfall primus, turn three discard griselbrand to fetch and animate dead the griselbrand, opponent concedes.
This was before archon of cruelty existed, or of course I would've picked that over griselbrand. But you see my point. It *can* be really fun in reanimator. I personally think it's more fun than all of the monoblack discard outlets. If you draw survival, you only need to draw 1 creature for the entire game. You're paying a slight mana premium for repeatable entomb.
No idea what your 2nd round opponent was doing with it, though. They didn't seem to have any black cards.
Edit: oh I had another Survival of the Fittest deck that ran living death when that was in the cube (I wonder when was the last time it was there...) along with a handful of ramp, including signets (since those were in the cube instead of talismans at the time), opponent would spend 2 or 3 turns thinking I was just getting unlucky by never drawing a reanimate spell while I kept filling my graveyard, then boom I just got 4 giant creatures on the battlefield while they got nothing
It's a two mana play that doesn't affect the board and requires further mana to be invested into it in an age of really powerful two and three drop creatures. Magic these days is generally too fast for cards like that.
Ya love to see it....
if you +3 the krasis with Minsc & Boo, at 34:00 and make boo a 10/10 trumple you'll have 20 trumple damage and a bunch of other things attacking, rather than flinging
I really love the idea of trumpling and trumple damage! 😆
nice to see LSV dominate outside his crew
When Lsv opens time walk p1 you know it’s gonna be a banger. Btw Lsv never opens power!
Wow that was a helluva clinic
Can't wait to play vintage in mtga!
Sometimes stuff wheeling or coming late on MTGO is just silly. Last night I got a 9th Picj Forth Eorlingas...I mean I had picked a Mox from that pack over it and clearly that should not advance back to me.
P5P1 we already knew that VIOLENCE was coming
so unruly krasis is a 3 mana craterhoof without haste?
Seems pretty decent.
How is it like craterhoof at all?
usually my craterhoofs attack for more than 8
This is a freaking clinic.
Hahaha he said the same thing at the end lol
a wise man once said "never cut all your bolts, because then you can't bolt them out"
Up an hour early. Gotta be a great one.
19:02 not cycling triome because??
How much does it cost to draft on mtgo? I literally just made an account
10 tix
$10
@@AzuriteCoast but you get some of that back, unless you are so bad to go 0-3 all the time
so the real cost is more like $2-$5
It’s the joy 🚶
Are the Vintage cubes not pod drafts on MTGO?
many years ago they were, now they have some league kind of system where you draft and then you have 2 weeks to play 3 games with that deck.
No they draft on a 3rd party website and they play against each other on mtgo, this is the mtgo draft
No, they switched to a "league" system a number of years ago (as the other poster said). The advantage is that you don't have to wait for other matches to finish before you play your next round.
Has LSV said in the past why he doesn't think Survival of the Fittest should be in the cube?
Not that it matters but in match 3 if you had evoked Subtlety you would not have gotten the effect due to the containment priest.
Evoke is an alternate casting cost so Containment Priest doesn’t stop it. You’d need Lavinia or Boromir which block spells not cast for mana or something that stops abilities from triggering.
