We will never experience another band like Pink Floyd. They are the definition of what music should be.The lyrics, vocals, musicianship, but most important was their ability to make you feel and leave you wanting more. Their music was never mindless or without meaning, it gave you something to think about.I’ve listened for over 50yrs and still do, and enjoy it as much now as at the beginning of my journey.🎸🍺😎
You HAVE to listen to the entire Dark Side Of The Moon album...it will change your life. Do a reaction of side A then side B. You'll thank me later. Also do Comfortably Numb, first the studio version then the live Pulse concert version.
true
Do the whole Wall album!
yupp. Its a lifechanger. Something you carry as a part of you.
Somewhat of a reminder of all the things you already knows and feels.
Good advice!!
This comment alone made me feel like I’ve known you for years. Such incredible advice
You hit it on the head. David Gilmour’s playing often makes me feel like crying. Not sad tears, nor happy tears. More like tears of remembrance and appreciation.
“Just makes you want to cry”
Exactly.
Because it touches your soul
Welcome to the machine
Younger generations may not realize many albums throughout this era were entire compositions meant to be played in full. Artist resented the fact that producers wanted to cut chop and limit sound in an industrialized method for quicker profits.
This has not changed at all.
i get what you mean but it sounds a little condescending. I'm "younger" and i appreciate the idea of the "concept album". Such albums can be found from the 60's right up until now. Plenty of modern albums are concept albums too. Music lovers and visionary artists didn't suddenly stop being made after the 80's. What you're talking about are casual listeners who're less patient, have less time, or for whatever reason don't bother sitting and really paying attention to albums. Those people come from all eras - I've met them. I've met boomers, and generations each side of them who don't know anything about concept albums. Their idea of being adventurous and "modern" is listening to U2 or Coldplay. Pink Floyd is "that hippy band" to them. I wouldn't worry... real music enthusiasts will always be around and they will always respect music history and classics like DSOTM. From my experience about 1/20 people are proper music obsessives who dig deep. Whatever the ratio is, I doubt it changes much over time - it's something in the DNA that draws us to creative music.
A lot of people who complain about modern music are often themselves closed minded. A lot of assumptions are made without really ever wading into places where people discuss and listen to quality music. You can't just turn on the TV or popular radio and expect to be exposed to all the good stuff. Even the classic rock radio is filled with a lot of overplayed trash imo. Every genre has good stuff, and every year good stuff is made - the trick is finding it. Things are a lot more "democratised" now with the internet so you have to go and find stuff for yourself - it won't automatically come to you.
Which Pink Floyd satirized in the album Wish You Were Here, cut "Have a Cigar".
@@halfalligator6518 And anyone who disagrees proves that you are right?
The solo in this song makes my 8yr old emotional, he actually tears up, but he loves pink Floyd
I'm gonna say it's the best guitar solo in history.
That's a really good sign your boy has a deep mind, an especially big heart and empathetically beautiful soul.
@@rubicon-oh9km It's this or the solos in Comfortably Numb.
Hey… I’m 62 and that solo makes me cry every time since 1976, so… l guess your son is just a normal human being… 😉
that is a great start in music for a very perceptive and emotionally developed young person 👏
The 60's&70's was a time of mind expanding, creative and truly expressive music that hasn't been matched since your Grandparents were young people. I can't even explain how wonderful it was. Now I'm 80 yrs old still in SF and still loving PF nearly every day. So much fantasic music came out of that time that is still relevent today. I love that young people today have access to it all.
"it just makes you wanna cry" - you ain't the only one out there, I often say the exact same about this track
Bro you are not alone. This group really knows how to pluck your heart strings. They take you on a personal journey!👍🏻
And on the album it goes straight into "The Great Gig in the Sky" with guest vocalist Claire Torry.
If "Time" touched your heart, TGGITS will touch your very soul 😉
But if you want to see the guys "back in the day" here's a little song about all life on this planet and how we should be better people.
Pink Floyd - "Echoes" Live at Pompeii 1972 ua-cam.com/video/LxksRFZacJI/v-deo.html
Echoes is epic.
It should be illegal to react to Time without Great Gig immediately following!
What a voice she has
Echoes is the best, hands down
@@iantomlinson5316 nothing compares to Echoes.
PINK FLOYD, "TIME". I remember when I first bought this album, in 1973. Would get home from Highschool and shut the curtains, turn the lights off and meditate too THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. A memory I will never forget. Other Classic Songs. Band TRAFFIC, MUSIC "THE LOW SPARK OF HIGH HEELED BOYS",. BAND YES, MUSIC "ROUNDABOUT". BAND THE ZOMBIES, MUSIC "TIME OF THE SEASON" BAND MEATLOAF, MUSIC "PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT" . BAND BADFINGER, MUSIC "NO MATTER WHAT"...
Rich dense arrangements and philosophical lyrics.
No other band in existence has come close to capturing human emotion with music like they did.
There truly is something magical about Gilmours guitar.
For those who do not know where the name “Pink Floyd” came from…… Syd Barrett - original founder of the band had two favorite Blues Guitar Players in his record collection, two older black men both from Atlanta Georgia…. “Pink Anderson and Floyd Council”
Syd*
What makes Pink Floyd so special is that their lyrics are so much more than just a string of words arranged to rhyme.
And their music is so much more than a simple series of notes which follow each other, without provoking any emotions.
I strongly suggest you listen to (Brain Damage + Eclipse) from the same album.
Waters as acclaimed as he is ,he is underrated
Broooo you gotta listen to that whole album in order. Also check out Shine on you Crazy Diamond. Both parts in order.
Holy shit. I listened to Comfortably Numb in the Live Pulse Album from 1994-1995... I wish I was alive to see this concert. They don't make music like they used to.
High Hopes is another gut-wrenching, honest song about life and motion in time of a life. Beautiful music, deep lyrics.
That and Loss For Words both are great together
Loved your reaction. I've been listening to this song for 40 years & it never get's old! "10 years get's behind you" try 30 or 40. This song has been telling me for half a century to cherish every day & do good works!
"Comfortably Numb" live at the Pulse Concert at Earls Court London 1994, incredible performance!
In the pantheon of music, Pink Floyd shines like a diamond....
"... The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older... Shorter of breath and one day closer to death..."
Love that line.
Scary line, a universal truth to us all. Through the passage of youth, into full adulthood and middle age, its a brutal and simple refrain that slaps you in the gut
Feeling every bit of it
Dark Side of the Moon is a true classic, one of the greatest albums ever made. The cover alone (actually taken from a school physics book) is an icon. You've probably seen it on T shirts etc. You should experience the whole album in one go as conceived, it's really just one piece of music with all the different songs melting into each other. Its not that long, around 45 mins, so treat yourself. Your ears will love you for the rest of your life. And you may start wearing T shirts with rainbows on them. That's a perfectly normal side effect of encountering musical genius:).
I’m partial to the wall but that’s just me hey you and comfortably numb alone makes that album untouchable!
Couldn't agree more ... when I first heard it in 1974 (?) I was overwhelmed, flashed, like on a drug. It made me seek for the perfect sound over the span of my life. I have the album in many different versions and listen to it regularly but not too often (!) on my high end stereo system. The part by Claire Torry is probably the part on this masterpiece that touched my soul the most when it comes to music. I also like a lot "Wish you where here" and basically all other albums but Dark Side of the Moon makes the roof and one has to list to it in one go as it is like a big painting that can not be shown in parts.
Don't want to appear picky, but it's a prism on the front of the DSOTM album, not a rainbow. But rainbows are good too. Have to agree with you though, it's one of the greatest albums ever conceived.
Best music ever. There is no better music than pink floyd.
I've been crying to this song since 1973. I just did it again....
Check out Pink Floyd live 1994 Pulse concert for their song "Comfortably Numb"! The end of Comfortably Numb has what most people are calling the best live guitar solo of all time !! Other bands try The Moody Blues song "Nights in White Satin"! Led Zeppelin song Stairway to Heaven! And for a full circle do Pink Floyd's "Echoes" live from Pompeii from 1972 to see and hear what they look like in their 20s! Pointing out songs that seem like the kind you're looking for.
You should actually check out Delicate Sound of Thunder(1988) concert recording of Comfortably Numb. I think it's a better solo from David (I know ,is that possible) yes it is.. It's longer and he does it in two parts. Everyone is stuck on the Pulse version ...just give it a listen and see what you think :)
Meh. Comfortably Numb is popular, but hardly Dave's best.
"Time" is an existential crisis in the form of a song
It really wasn't over. Pink Floyd comes in 45 minute waves. It's always the entire album. Time is so much more fulfilling if The Great Gig in the Sky follows non stop. As with so many other songs by them. Good reaction or should I say "Appreciation."
This song is three parts, the 1st is when you are young and time seems in abundance. The 2nd is middle age were life is busy and time is moving too quickly, and finally old age. nice reaction. Pink Floyd will blow your mind.
I’ve experienced this live twice, once in the 70’s and once I’m the 80’s, mind blowing 😎
Believe me I would accept a high 4 figure USD ticket price to have this experience. There are things in life you can't buy for money. You'r a lucky man!
I’m so jealous, what I would give to have been at the pulse concert
I saw them three times during the 80's and 90's. Best live band ever. I have been to a lot of different concerts, large and small, and Pink Floyd takes first prize every time.
This song still makes me tear up a little. It does just pull on your emotions with the guitar.
Pink Floyd Live is an experience you will Never forget. I had the time of my life seeing them 5 times over the years. Each time was incredible. You should do Comfortably Numb from the Live Pulse Tour. David Gilmore has an incredible solo that ranks as one of the best you will ever hear anywhere at the end of the song. I promise if you listen once, you will go back and listen to it many times. The lights are awesome too. It will give you a sample of what they are like Live, but to be there in person is beyond incredible.
just watch the entire pulse show. make sure to bring an extra pixie stick ;)
Gilmour
Seen them 5 times to
Pink Floyd, "Wish you were here". Make sure you watch the one with lyrics, it has a deeper meaning that is very applicable to today. Good reaction, Thank you!
Other Great bands to check out, in no particular order. Heart, Led Zeppelin, RUSH, The Beatles, Deep Purple, Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, The Grateful Dead, The Traveling Wilburys, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Cream, CSNY, Neil Young, Nirvana, David Bowie, Queen, Supertramp, James Gang, The Eagles, McCartney and Wings, John Lennon, George Harrison, Cat Stevens, Boston, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice Cooper, The Kinks, Leon Russel, The Allman Brothers, The Band, ELO, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and on and on... There are a lot I have missed, but these are some of my all time favorites they all have large amazing, mind-blowing catalogs!!! You can't go wrong with any of them, enjoy!!!🎶👌🎼👍🎵😎
Steely Dan!
It's always good to listen to these guys whilst having the lyrics✌️
I was 8 years old and saw this very concert with an older brother and it totally blew me away and I have been a Pink Floyd fan ever since which was 50 years ago
Nick Mason’s drumming is out of this world.
first time ever seeing your reactions, but i like u...u just know......pink floyd are something special. ive seen a lot of people who react to this song apologising for the long intro at the start etc....but they dont realize its there to build the song and build towards when the lyrics finally start. its designed to get you more invested in the song and put your mind into a certain place....waiting to see what going to happen, with the metronome and heartbeat at the start. the song is aimed at YOU, its not about love or any other stuff that 90% of other songs are made of, he is talking to you. things like "kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown", not my hometown, YOUR hometown. Hes using certain words to make you make your own connectin to the song and realize that they apply to you. Extremely good song, probably my all time favourite tbh.
Killer choice, killer review. This song is 50 years old. Nothing like old school music.
First time I heard this song I had to actually sit down.. I wish I could hear it again for the first time.
Was on the billboard charts, for decades.
Nothing, nothing, nothing is better than Pink Floyd....
✌💚🤍❤
This legendary guitar playing by David gilmore will never ever be matched n when he’s called to heaven him n us will still enjoy his work
A sound that fell from heaven on to us to remind us!
Imagine listening to this as a young teenager 45 years ago!!
To understand this song it has to enter your soul, you absorb its message, take a deep breath and you will see how you have erroneously perceived life all this time.
"Animals" album...start to finish...my absolute FAVORITE Floyd album...no, they're ALL my favorites. Lol.
I used to have an alarm clock in the 70s that had a cassette player buit in. I used to have this lined up for the alarm. Used to scare the shit out of me, but it did wake my lazy teenage ass up. 😂
You have a old soul my friend, let no one take it.
Pink floyd is a sonic blessing...my word
30 years after hearing them for the 1st time, I still cry sometimes listening to them! It's just so incredibly beautiful and it's beautiful watching you experience it!! Much love ❤️
David pulls you in with his style. Nothing else like it
I can confirm that this track, live, is just incredible. No other word for it. Incredible!
Music like this can save the world.
Was blessed to see them in '73 on their "Dark Side of the Moon" tour...

The dynamics of analogue recordings. .. Imagine this being recorded today on a computer, jeez
MAN, great video, now I can only say that an avalanche of people is coming asking you to react to the Live pulse versions, but from what I saw in this video, you should jump right into the discography, side A side B videos, and that's all I'll leave it up, wish you here and animals albums.
Greetings from Brazil.
Ps: Keep the subtitles
NEVER STOP A DAVID GILMOUR SOLO !
Pink floyd On the turning away live delicate sound of thunder tour !!!!!!!
Pink floyd high hopes live pulse concert
Love your reaction . First time viewing your
channel. The emotion you showed is felt by all who hear the music. Pink Floyd is full of deep lyrics and sound.
Enjoy the journey. Keep up the good work.
Love your channel man. I am a drummer in my 40s and love to see you do these selections (80s-90s.)
What a refreshingly honest reaction of real enjoyment. You got a new subscriber my friend.Looking forward to some more from you. And thank you for this one and have a great day!
Thanks just came across your site ( while smoking some medicinal) and couldn’t resist. Put on the headphones and cranked it up !!!
Took me back to the year it came out and was pleased to see today’s listener get the whole package. Not just the brilliant music but the message in the lyrics in fact the whole album . Thanks again
you don't just listen to Pink Floyd. You feel it
The lyric I've always loved in this is "hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way" , yep that's us in a nutshell
You _H A V E_ to listen to it again (on your own, if you prefer), but then let it naturally lead into the next song on the album, _The Great Gig in The Sky,_ and listen to that too. It makes the experience of _Time_ this complete journey.
And ❤️🔥damn❤️🔥-the vocals by Clare Torry are INSANE on it. Amazing and otherworldly. So beautiful.
You should really listen to the album in full sometime, if you enjoyed the song. I never stop being amazed by it each time and I listen fairly often, lol. 💜
I think we have passed by the era where lyrics and music really mean something. Not a happy thought but given the current level of interest in anything but 'Can I be an Internet Star' mentality. Uggh. Glad to be an old coot that was lucky enough to grow up with all of these great songs. Well, not so glad to be old, but oh wow, I got to to be of the generation that took this kind of music for granted.
Young people should heed these lyrics. I assure you many of us old people wish we had heeded them, when they were new.
Love it!!!! Pink Floyd is awesome🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Floyd albums are the greatest books you will ever hear.
David Gilmour- Comfortably Numb live at Pompei 2016. You'll get the WHOLE Pink Floyd experience. David is the guitar player for Pink Floyd. You'll be amazed and he's almost 70
It’s been so long since I heard these classic Pink Floyd songs for the first time. I remember these feelings, I don’t think any other group as deep an effect on me. My introduction when I was 14 and a mate loaned me is Walkman on a long bus trip and I listened to the Wish You We’re Here album. Absolutely changed my life.
I saw them live several times in the 70's.
❤. You got in the right headspace real quick. Great job young man. The Pink Floyd journey is life long. Song's composed and played on this level aren't figured out in a matter of days. Enjoy your young musical journey. I was 13 when Dark Side dropped onto this planet. It excited and terrified me in some ways as a young boy. I've been a better man because of it. Of course most of the world now agree that Dark Side of the Moon is probably one of the greatest composed albums in modern time's.

My favourite Floyd reaction video ever I think. Superb.
PF always set the mood in the intro. Make you aware of time passing by.
Best song of all times!
Yes it is an experience to see that song live . It was May 13 1988 in Toronto Ontario
I heard this song and album the first I ever tripped on mushrooms when I was 19. Still hear that guitar solo and get teary eyed lol
I love watching people react to Pink Floyd more than any other band, it really is a life changing experience. Best band ever imo 👍
NEVER pause during a David Gilmour solo!!! He is simply one of the greatest guitarists of all time. The emotion and soul that pours out of his fingers into the guitar is simply gorgeous and amazing. The man is a legend!
LOL. I was going to say - First rule of Floyd Club: NEVER STOP IN A GILMOUR GUITAR SOLO. Sorry, it's the Rules. I didn't make 'em toy boy, just how it is and has to be. YW.
@@DawnSuttonfabfour Spot on!
I wish some of these reaction videos would dive deeper into the meaning of the lyrics.
That would be something to blow minds.
So, so appropriate for you to listen in the dark,..in the dark alone with PF, and your thoughts,..very, very appropriate, let ot wash over you,..especially the entire Dark of The Moon album,..Godspeed, Peace ✌
Welcome to the tribe! Lol😁
The most iconic and intense guitar solo in the history of music. Never will there ever be one as powerful as this one ever again.
You Definitely need to check out TOOL!!! Epic Songs!!!
PinkFloyd " Shine On You Crazy Diamond " You must !
We need so many bands to come back like in the late 60s through the 90s… I’m waiting for a great rock band with some soul to come around again
Pink Floyd great gig in the sky
You’re on to something. Musicians call it stage presence. Your schtick is genuine and interesting. I’ll be following.
and , of course you started with my favorite Pink Floyd song. hell yes.
The bit "You run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking, racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older; shorter of breath, and one day closer to death." was the inspiration for my first tattoo. \m/
I love how you love the whole audio experience of this music
I have been in the crowd watching Floyd and even the best ever recording you'll hear doesn't do justice to how they sound live and yes that night watching this band made me cry.
I dig your style man 👍
Dude I envy anybody hearing Floyd for the 1st time 😍
Subbed and will be back for all Pink Floyd content. Loved the reaction; keep doing you, man.
Its so great to watch someone your age being blown away by the music that rocked my sole when I was your age.
