  • Session Description: In 2022, BCIT and Providence Health Care collaborated to create a learning pathway for BSN students to transition into critical care upon graduation. With five cohorts established to date, including the successful completion of the first cohort in March and the second cohort nearing completion this September, our presentation will delve into the firsthand experiences of our students on this transformative journey. During the presentation, we will focus on sharing feedback from students, discussing the support system in place, and highlighting the enhanced confidence levels students have achieved in specialized practice environments through this learning pathway.
Saemy Cho graduated from BCIT’s BSN program in July 2022, becoming the first student to successfully navigate and complete the BSN critical care learning pathway established in 2022. Following graduation from BCIT’s critical care nursing specialty program in March, Saemy is currently working at St. Paul’s Hospital’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
Carmen Naujokat recently graduated from the BCIT BSN program in July 2023 and she is in the third cohort of students to follow the critical care learning pathway. She started working in a transition line in the CICU at St.Paul’s Hospital in August 2023 and will be starting the critical care specialty program in January 2024.
