Not YOUR mama. I meant the song! 😅

The reason I hit the like! 😂
lol l ĺ😊ĺĺl
as soon as you said it, honest to God, I went for the Subscribe button and then I realized I actually already subscribed recently, but I still haven't took a deep dive into your content. Thanks for the amazing video!
@@mladenmandaric6688 thank you for watching, and subscribing!
but my mama did! 🤣
Funk is where bass really shines.
As a guitarist who also plays bass, and is learning to play bass like a bass, not just a lower register guitar, these videos are great.
I’m fighting the same fight - there’s hope for us with people like Rich sharing such great nuggets!
Like a bass. 🎣
Ha, that’s exactly what I’m going through
@@blessedbygaia6862 I'm a bass player also playing guitar. Using a bassist foundation, cool unordinary stuff came out of the guitar, then I noticed myself transferring guitar stuff back to the bass... cross pollenation is cool.
I don't use a guitar pick, nor any fingerstyle guit technique. I use Claypool's technique. Try that man.
Same!!!
The funkier, the better. Always love how accessible these concepts can be.
Thank you so much for watching!
Never inaccessible, only how much style can you give it ?.
Sometimes you just go "oh is that all they're doing"
I've had heaps of those moments learning the bass.
Funk is located between the 6th and the flat7. Skank is having a minor third
My mama did use that scale during her time at College of the Arts. Most of the time during third period, classical guitar theory.
SERIOUSLY!!! Also, I love your videos your articulate teaching style show us your grace and patience that's one of the great bass players out there today.
That's very kind of you to say. Thank you so much, and thanks for watching!
Got to agree with that. And add a blessed.
yo mama!
Wow thats just about the greatest tip i've ever come across. Thank you!!
I don’t even play the bass & I love the use of this mode
You are not only a great musician, but, you are also a great teacher!! Many thanks !
Thanks, just for being alive! I'm building on dorian RIGHT NOW BABY!!! .....AND the magic? I'm a keys guy. Anybody with a good sense of swing at 30% or 60% can play a funky af D, on only the whites!!!! ....but I beg all of you.... dig down into those other keys, they make use of the black keys! ❤
Love the smile on your face when you play that lick, it is funky! Thanks Rich, I really appreciate your approach to music and teaching.
True, the funky grin! 😊
The light in your eyes and smile when you say Funk, it's priceless.
I really love your playing and how you make a bass sound.
That's very kind of you to say. Thank you so much!
There's some buddha nature in you, Rich, and I appreciate it.
I was trained by George Ortiz when I was 19. I'm 58 and still using the Dorian mode to create awesome lines. Seeing you for the first time today and you're teaching the Dorian scale just blew my mind. I love it. I'm now a fan of yours and I'm checking out your other videos
Any scale, funky, bro. It's all about da playah. You know this. Dorian is just harmonic minor.
Feeeeling foooonky now. I’m in!
Your bass tone is FIRE!!
The phonk is off the charts.
VIBES!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Also, good to know this 👉🏿 5:51
It works! You look at me with that stank face almost every time! LOL!
Digressing; your right hand thumb at the first knuckle from the end allows the end of your thumb to bend back 90 deg. Mine does that on both hands and I often wondered if it made it harder for me to learn guitar. I'm learning bass now and am used to it, I have a long reach due to my height and being in proportion (everywhere 😊) so probably should have started with bass. Loving your instruction, your passion for even the sound of a scale is infectious, and it's like you are with me in my computer room just talking to me. Then you address everyone out there and break the illusion. But, you deserve more people subscribing to your music room. Maybe not enough OMGs or slapping something.
7:39 Man, that is funky. ( Aahhhhh. I've always been partial to the funk.)
As a piano player, you know I can't play bass, so this is helpful, so thanks for that. I'll be thinking about this when I'm recording my next song, so thank you.
That make me want to learn bass...that stuff is very familiar to me James Brown/ Scofield/RnB/ my local Older church musicians ....its like sunshine....always glad to see it.
Louis Johnson....
I only play drums. Musician family
Spot on! As a bass player since the '80s, I have gotten a LOT of mileage out of the Dorian. Also, your phrasing is impeccable.
I play trombone but it easy to translate. I love thay fonk and live to hold baselines. Glad i found this channel
And all in one spot, literally, not too much movement, yet FUNKY. I recall Chuck Rainey saying similar; "There's lots of notes under one hand placing".
Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
the natural minor shows up a lot in heavy metal and hard rock, like the song "little sister" by queens of the stone age. I only mention that song because i was learning it earlier today and they utilize this "b6 - 5 - b3" lick as a lead in to the main verse riff. using that minor 6. Love the dorian too, and your tone is amazing. Great video 👍
Yes my favorite mode of all time!
Awesome!
I can be found at youtube "awesome 5/8 groove". This is a great theory lesson. Thank u very much!!!

I knew that The Funkiest Note in the World was going to be featured when I saw this come up. I like how you tied things together with this one Rich, you're an outstanding instructor.
You nailed it once again, as always, Rich! Beauty (and serious funk!) in simplicity!!

This was one of the most helpful videos ive encontered. thank you
Nice...
Dude, your playing and tone are both so smooth.
"I know I wrote that bass line, but it's pretty funky, I gotta say." You know it is!
LOL! Forgive my shamelessness.
Thank you sir another great awesome lesson Sir thank you
Thanks big bother..... lots to absord here...
I Appreciate You
See, this is why I love the Brown'stone.
Great vid Rich! Your videos are so concise and always eerily adjacent to something I want to learn more about. Started noodling in Dorian on my own last month (accidentally played that major sixth while trying reggae) and this gives me so many more ideas. Got a big grin out of seeing you play that intro theme in there too.
It was veery useful thanks aloot
Замечательно!!!
That riff is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Loved the vid - subbed and have a great day!
My first encounter with this channel, and I'm subscribing with gladness. Great video. Lots of stuff to digest and assimilate.
