Laura, your channel should be over 100K. You are so knowledgeable about cooking healthy, frugal and delicious. Keep it up. I’m talking you up to everyone I know.
This Wisconsinite thanks you for picking our cheese. My family had a dairy farm in northern WI for many generations. My favorite saying is that you can never have too much cheese.
Yes!! I recently went to Wisconsin and tried the cheese for the first time and I have to it was incredible! I agree, you can never have enough cheese 😄
If you like fresh salsa say from like a restaurant the pioneer woman has a fresh recipe using can tomatoes that's soo good and relatively cheap too. Just an idea

I’ve been struggling with meal planning lately and these are great easy recipes! I have a tip for everyone about onions. I would buy the bag of them but not use them up before they would sprout so I research proper storage for them and potatoes. What I learned was if they’re kept out of the light they will last longer and not sprout, but they need airflow as well. I don’t have a root cellar so I found black cotton boot bags on amazon, and on another site a couple of willow wall baskets that are deep and can be hung up. I put onions in the bag (which breathes) then put the bag of onions in the basket (which also breathes). I’m down to two onions from a bag I bought at Aldi over two months ago and they are still good! I haven’t tried potatoes yet but I’m thinking they will be good a little longer as well.
Mrs. dash made my favorite taco seasoning and i haven't found it in years! I made mine based on what was in hers: oregano, black pepper, garlic, onion and chili powders, cumin and ground celery seed (which i also have had trouble finding so celery salt it is).
Oh my goodness, yes!! I used to use that seasoning all the time and then I couldn’t find it! That’s why I make my own too! I’ll have to try it with celery seed. I happen to have some on hand that I never use 😅 Thank you so much for mentioning it!

I love your no waste focus! I'm afraid that many bean sishes in a row would tear up my stomach so I'd probability opt to freeze some for alternating in later. Also, if yoy cook your black beans with a clove of clove it gives a wonderful flavor tweak.
Thank you so much! That’s a great idea to freeze some for later! That would work great. I love adding garlic cloves! That’s how I usually make them and you’re right. It’s so good!
Zucchini boats are a favorite around here. Are you going to grow zucchini this year? Aldi didn't have iceberg lettuce last time I was there. I was sad, my hubby loves it. I passed up the lettuce at Staters it was quite pricey for sub quality heads. I think the rain messed with the harvest this year. The chicken was a great buy. I love thighs. Some great ideas here.
Thank you so much! My zucchini seeds just germinated in my garden so I’m hoping to make it to harvest this year. Last year I had no luck due to powdery mildew and pests 😰

I have to ask (new to budgeting -retired and new to your channel). You use tube turkey a lot. Is it because of price? I recently put it into a cabbage soup I typically put ground beef in, and was disappointed. Now I’m reluctant to use it in tried and true recipes. 🤷♀️🙂
Yes, it’s mainly due to price. It’s much less expensive than the ground turkey in the refrigerated section. I noticed that it’s the perfect texture when I thaw it 24 hours in the refrigerator and then it does require a bit more seasoning than ground beef, in my opinion.
@@LauraLegge Right? I don't have a place to garden and when they're priced right in the stores it seems I'm always too busy to deal with them. No more peppers in the trash, yay!
